I'm a huge Wage War fan, been once since day one. I knew they'd blow up fast, now they're in the spotlight as on of the newest successful metalcore bands in the scene today. Is it just me now noticing or have they always done live shows with a backing vocal track? This is a performance standard that bothers me a bit. I understand playing to an instrumental backing track with drum programming or synth parts, but a vocal track? But is it really that bad if people like Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, and Beiber lip sync? If this is the standard within the music industry, then is a metal band using a backing vocal track now acceptable? Thoughts?
It creates a bigger overall sound mix and makes the live show sound more fluid. Also it's very difficult to hit every single note and line in the song during a live setting so having a backing track allows the band to continue playing through the song with no awkward silences

There are so many bands and they don't wanna create any hassle for the other bands to set up. At least that's what I think. They seem really cool and professional! I can't tell you how many times bands have had to rush and get a very minimal sound check then have technical difficulties because the previous band would go over their alotted time.

Even though I hate push pits, I accept that and deal with it. They never go after me, target me or "kick my ass."

I went to a killswitch/anthrax show here in jersey and during the entire anthrax set, i couldn't tell you how many flying grandpa's i saw/helped get up and over. Dudes with full heads of grey showing they still got that spark in em. Shit was fuckin great.
