      Hi Paulette, I'm trying to develop a build a machine, like a coffee machine, so that people can make soap at home easily, and I was wondering if people buy these soap making kit to make soap for themselves or to sell the soap. It would be great if you could offer me some guidance on that matter.

    Love making soap. Been doing hot and cold process for years. I love Bulk Apothecary for my essential oils but plan to check out Lone Star due to your reccomendation on several of your tutorials.

    What would be a cheap substitute for the expensive dyes?

    after you make the soap, how long do you wait until you use it?

    • @TimberRidgeGifts
      @TimberRidgeGifts  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use it right away. There is no cure time for melt and pour.

    I would assume that melting the initial soap would also work in a pot on stove top?? Yes or no??

    • @altsummoner3630
      @altsummoner3630 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes you can use a double boiler method on the stove a big pot with water in it then a smaller pot on top off the water with the soap base in it

    It's not similar. Maybe melt and pour, but, that's not soap making. You actually make your amazing candles.
    Remember, I'm a soap maker... Not a candle maker. I watch your tutoriasl to learn how to make candles, so I can make them as gifts one day. So I guess I can tutor you about soap making.
    Melt and pour is NOT making soap. It, by law, can NOT even be labeled homemade. People do put handmade on it though.
    But.... If you and your family would like to learn how to make soap.. let me know, and I'll gladly assist you.
    I'm the person that headed the 4 year FDA study, (finished it In October 2017) on soap, as part of my biochemistry masters study. I've aldo been making soap for over 35 years. I might have a little info to share on that subject. 😁😀😁😀
    I still haven't braved a candle yet. I did melt, color and scent a wX melt, just to see if it came out ok. The shape and scent, yes. Not the color though. Lol

      I would say melt and pour is actually the closest thing to candle making in the soaping world as candle makers are not officially making their wax...they melt, add color, and fragrance. Of course the wick poses some interesting issues that you don't find an equivalent to in melt and pour.
      I've seen some incredible artistry from people who do just melt and pour soaps. So melt and pour is a perfect first step into soap making for someone that makes candles
