- China has proved its commitment to Africa over the years when it comes to infrastructure across the continent. In East Africa, the Standard Gauge Railway project is one of the most ambitious - aiming to eventually link up the entire region. And in China - another kind of rail revolution is underway. Jane Kiyo reports.

Thank you China for helping Africa to develop. Despite the priviledge britain and france had over the continent resources,they left Africa bared as if it has nothing to deserve notable infrastructure.
At last Africa have meet a friend who sees the continent as partner than colonial mentality spew by the britain and france when they arrived in their boat on the Africa shore. China infrastructure projects across Africa is a marvel to behold,from athiopia to kenya and to southern Africa, from Congo to Nigeria and to Senegal. What a good friend of Africa .

I am a Chinese, You know what, even in my country, all the government from province to countryside call for a words “build road if you want get rich”. China is output its good experience to African by invest in infrastructure. Of course, China government also will get benefits from the project. African people is wise enough, once you have infrastructure , you can use it to communicate more with external world, you get rich, you get your children to accept education. And your country gets strong.

I’m Chinese. I went to Nigeria in 2016. There are so many nice and amazing people. I met a swimming coach in the hotel swimming pool. Oh my god. He’s like a super muscle god. I told him, you could make so much money in any place of the world as a trainer. He said I can’t afford a plane ticket…never. we visited local official’s house. And the light went off 3 times because lack of electricity. It’s just the country is still too poor for people to prosper. Out team gave all our cheap phone for local communication to the hotel staff. I also gave them some money. I’m so so so angry when some evil people say this is debt trap bla bla. How can people really become rich and live a good life when roads are still mud and there is no rail and enough electricity?!!!!!! They are treating African people are fools and trashing African people’s IQ.Run, Africa, run! Beat the evils who enslaved you and sold you to another continent. Love you.

In 70s-80s NGO prefer giving African Countries food, medicine or education, but it really not help much in long term. For food and medicine it is one-off so the reason is clear. Compare education and infracstructure, why the later is better? Because everyone wants better place for better life. Once the people were highly educated, they will fleed to more convinent place for better life. Countries without good infracstructures cannot retain high-skilled people, thus never get rid of poverty.

I am glad you said it. Chinese people win their respect/position by working harder than others. Thus they don't need to cheat or steal to be successful. When they promise they will deliver. Of course there are exceptions and bad apples but one thing for sure you will not get rip off by the Chinese, especially when the Chinese government is involved.
