The thing about Bangchan's position as leader is that he is not only the support, but from the beginning he was in charge of the formation of the group. Every aspect related to SKZ's identity comes from Bangchan's ingenuity, from choosing the members, the name, the logo, their music, etc. This is where the delegation of work with the other members comes in, and that it works both as individuals and as a team. Which leads him to be a very good leader.

For BTS, RM is the logical choice for leader because BTS is built around him(1st member), he has a genius IQ and he’s fluent in English and Japanese. However, the entire Hyung line steps into the leadership role to assist RM when needed. For example, Savage Suga fields the controversial and adversarial challenges and questions from reporters and haters. Jin is the Crown Prince(eldest brother) of BTS, so he commands the most filial authority in the group! JHope is the dance leader, assisting the choreographers in every aspect of BTS’ performances. Also, the Maknae line steps into the leadership role often as well. For example, V is the leader in BTS branding, creating their signature Color and phrase “Borahae (We Purple You)! Leeteuk, best k-pop leader ♥️. To be honest, I always liked the role of a leader in k-pop groups. I think it's not an "I'm above you" type of role but I think it's important that groups and the fandom have someone they can trust and talk on behalf of the group and even fans in certain situations. Also a clear leader creates a more tight group as everyone knows their role and no one will try to take power or the group being divided. It most be hard tho, because other members actions it will be automatically their fault.
Agree. His attention to details of each of his members and his manner.. And many said Leeteuk is a big reason Super Junior survives as a group. Leeteuk put a high bar for leadership for me But I cant denied that also put a strain to his mental health. Leeteuk is the oldest among SM trainees. He is official Super Junior leader and unofficial SM artist leader. Very few people he could lean into. Thats why even though Leeteuk is the best leader, I think RM is more ideal, because he still have members above him who support him and he could take comfort from
I agree Leetuek is one of the best leader in kpop he is willing to sacrifice his well being just to make sure his members are good. for example during their car accident he prioritize Kyuhyun over him self while he him self is bleeding so much.
Onew shows the greatest strength a leader should have after losing Jonghyun, a beloved member. It wasn't just SHINee who suffered a huge loss. That was the darkest period in KPop history full stop. I don't know any group who wasn't affected by that tragedy and all fandoms were mourning too. You can have a leader that is strict or driven but they also need compassion and kindness as well. The mental stress these KPop artists go through is no joke. They need leaders who listen to them and support their goals. They also know how to work with each member by understanding them. Personally, I don't care much for RM as a leader just because BTS is the top group in KPop. That has nothing to do with real leadership. Anyone who acts like a big boss is not a real leader. Most fandoms can't tell the difference.
But RM has displayed great strength as a leader. He knows when to let the members solve their problems (arguments), themselves, without intervening and when to intervene. He ensures that the members opinions and feelings are valued, equally. He listens, helps and gives advice when asked to and he tries to ensure that the fans know they are valued. The members have spoken about how RM has helped or influenced them to become better. He lets the fans know he would rather they have their own lives through his lyrics and that he hopes BTS does not become their everything. I know you might not care for RM, but please, do not undermine his value to BTS and the fandom and his leadership skills, just because BTS is big in the world.
Leaders are usually the important role that acts like the bridge between the company and the members. So it's very important to have a good leader. With that being said: I think B.A.P Leader Bang Yong Guk is a great example of a great leader that feels responsible for all the aspects of the group. He makes sure that the music quality is monitor. How the business side of the industry effect their fans, ask us not to buy overpriced merch, tickets or (bulk) albums. He is a great role model for fans and the members. He cared about being a good example for the fans, because he is an public figure.
No mention of B.A.P's leader Bang Yongguk is such a crime😢 B.A.P suffered so much under TS Ent, BYG being the eldest n longest trained was naturally chosen to be their leader even tho hes such a super Introvert. BYG being the strong pillar for the members when they sued TS Ent. Hes also the producer for almost all of their songs which is my BJYM can still use their songs even after leaving TS Ent now
I was about to mention this one of a kind leader Mr Bang Yong Guk. For me he is hand in hand with Leeteuk as the best leader of Kpop. They do everything they can to protect the group and ALL members. Everybody can say they have the best leader, but to know if it's really so, it's up to the members that are being lead by their leaders. Both groups really RESPECT the leader not only as their leader, but as a HUMAN being. The leader himself is a very down to earth hard working man. They have been through real poverty together as team with nobody step out. They stayed together through thick and thin.
I think having a leader is important. They also operate as spokesperson to the company. Groups with few members like blackpink, can work without one, but for bigger groups onr is definitely needed. Its a lot of responsibility and pressure, but its something that needs to be taken care if within a group. Thats why managers exist in normal jobs. And yes the groups have managers, but they main interest lies with the company and not the idol group. That beeing said i dont think a leader needs to take all the responsibilities alone, and that different tasks can be handled by different people (just like their are dance or vocal leaders). Its just that there needs to be a structure within the group that holds them together and works for their own interests alone.
Treasure now is going to have rotational leaders, every two to three years the leaders will change. It will help with the member's growth and also influence treasure's music going forward. Starting January of 2025, Junkyu and Asahi will be leaders.
Every team must have a leader. One point of contact. Someone who protects the members, handles issues, ensures the team has what they need for success, handles conflict resolution, keeps the team focused on the mission.
I think strong leaders will give groups a certain color. Think of the most known kpop groups. SNSD group leader was charming, innocent and fun. Big Bangs GDragon defines the experimental side of Big Bang. Can you imagine 2ne1 with BOM, Dara or Minzy as leader….cant see it, only CL has the aura needed. BTS cannot have another leader he defines the group.
I think having a Leader for a group is important that helps to guide the group both musically and on a personal level. Without a leader, in theory "everyone steps up equally bringing something unique" but I think in reality thats never how it's viewed to the public. Even with a leader this happens, so i think not having a leader can make this worse, especially since I feel like these days the amount of "fans" who only likes one person in a group and constantly urging them to leave the group to go solo is more than it ever had been in the past. Also having a leader low key always makes sure the other members have in the back of their mind a reminder of the responsibility for the entire group, otherwise it makes them more cognizant of just themselves. G-dragon as a leader did incredible things for Bigbang, he is the backbone that writes and produces all their songs, they couldn't be the Kings of Kpop without him undoubtedly. Even after all the drama and setbacks the group went through, he still wants to continue forward with them despite being at the point of his life where he can just be solo or not continue music at all. Just shows how much the group means to him. And CL is literally one of the greatest leaders in all of Kpop in my opinion. All the responsibilities she takes on while they were together, the responsibility and blame she carried with her when they disbanded when it wasn't her fault. Yet even after disbanding, any opportunity to bring the other members along for the ride despite everyone being on their own goes above and beyond any type of contractual leadership role. She gets invited to perform at Coachella, her first move to to share the moment with all of 2NE1, which she did. 2NE1 having an anniversary and CL meeting up with YG in secret leading to a reunion tour and now a possible album after 10 years ?? She really took on that role with her entire heart and and always steps ups when she needs to
Group leaders aren’t there to take charge of the group as such. They are there to be the intermediary between the group and the company. They have meetings between the members where they discuss company and group issues. They are also seen as the mouthpiece. That is why the group leader is not always the oldest member, it takes a certain personality to do the job. When they go to outside activities someone has to be in charge.
I feel like leaders are necessary depending on maturity of the group as a whole. SKZ, ATZ, Day6, BTS, and Seventeen wouldn’t be the same without their leaders (which I’m sure goes for the other groups too) but there’s always one to help the leader. If the oldest isn’t the leader (RM or Cap for example has Jin/Suga and Seonghwa respectively) to be mom to their leadership dad mode or if the leader is oldest (Chan/ S. Coups) has the second oldest as “mom”
i strongly believe the leader position is needed, specially if you are more than 4 people. Leaders (good leader of course) makes the difference. They are needed everywhere in a company, ina country in a household. We need the figure of guidance, support, empathy, understanding and unbreakable character
In my opinion Rm, Soobin and Bangchan are very good example on why the roll of the leader is important. leaders in groups are still a necessity. Someone needs to put their foot down if they have to, having a leader resolves issues and no one would have to beat around the bush. There are only some groups without leaders that manage fine. But most of them struggle. There’s gonna be moments for kpop groups when they’re put in a hard situation and most likely the members would feel overwhelmed, so the leader would be good at thinking rationality in that moment and supporting the members so no one folds. Someone needs to be all eyes and I think that’s important because I think if there was no leader and all the members tried looking after each other it would become overlapping. There’s even moments when one or two members would get into an argument right before something important, someone needs to be able to break it up. It’s like kpop groups being at interviews, it makes it a lot easier when the interviewer knows who the designated speaker is, some groups it’s not even the leader but the member who is good with speeches. It avoids awkward silence. But hey that’s just my opinion🙂
without bangchan there is literally no stray kids AT ALL!! he is the heart n brain of the group. i dunno why but he reminds me of mike shinoda from linkin park.
Some groups might work perfectly without any leader and some might not. I'd say it all depends on the group's dynamic. 8:40 Opinions about treasure's leader changing situation rn It's announced that starting from next year treasure's leader will be changed from Hyunsuk and Jihoon to Junkyu and Asahi... just after hearing this many questioned if it's right choice for YG since Hyunsuk and Jihoon are litterally the pillars, the parents of treasure like they can be a prime example of PERFECT LEADERS of a group... and i see many ppl are against it until now saying it's stupid and yes it's okay to be frustrated as it never happened to any group before so fans couldn't get a grip of it... I do agree that leadership quality isn't something a person can just have or can be forced but if we see from another POV we're so used to Hyunsuk and Jihoon being the leaders that we just can't see the potential of other members... If you're a real teume than you can see that Junkyu and Asahi also has the potentials to be leaders too as they're members involved in writing and composing their songs and every song they've produced screams the colour of treasure...and hyunsuk and jihoon also said that it was a mutual decision decided together with the whole group so there's nothing to worry about and more importantly as their music direction for their next comeback will be changing from their normal sound which is kind of intense hard hitting beats(which kinda matches the vibe of hyunsuk and jihoon) to less intense softer music (which suits Junkyu and Sahi more) it's a great Idea so rather than thinking that their leader position was snatched let's think of it as parents stepping down to give their children opportunities to shine or handle things in their own way. If it was during their debut days then nobody had the potential to be leaders other than Hyunsuk and Jihoon but considering the current situation Junkyu n Sahi has the perfect potentials too. Jihoon and hyunsuk did so great for the past 4 years they've sacrificed alot for the group so i think it'll be great for them to catch a break from the responsibilities. As long as they're happy and together nothing else would be a matter right? This situation might work for treasure but not for other groups so like i said earlier I think it all depends on the group's condition to have leaders or not...
You said so little about Bang Chan, even though he's the one who chose the members, drew Stray Kids logo and made all those decisions that led Stray Kids to the top.
I believe group leadership would depend on the group itself whether they need one or not, or who could fit the role in case the do need one. If all membersare well roulded there's no need, but if some members need encouragement, guidance or still in development as artist, then a role model would be necesary. So I belive it would all depend.
Personally I've never really cared to look into the other leaders of groups in kpop, I've always looked into RM as I'm an army, but even with that I can see how much he does for the group the pressure he endures and how he is the one that maintains the peace, stability and image of the group. I believe leaders are very much needed in groups, even on projects in school, universities or work a leader is need to guide how things will run, even if groups say they have no leader but I'm sure there is that one person who speaks up for them or they go to for advice it's very hard to make it without that one person. It's just my opinion though
Why ignore TXT and Emhypen? TXT is certainly one of the most popular K-pop groups and strangely no mention. I legit never heard of any of these groups mentioned except one or 2.
not talking about it it's not ignoring 😭 u can't say that to every thing that doesn't involve your faves or have u never heard of BTS, Blackpink, Stray Kids, Seventeen, Le sserafim or EXO?? 😭
Cause they're not a top 10 kpop group nor are the leaders heads and shoulders above other leaders in kpop. No offense to soobin and jungwon but they're very avg leaders compared to rm, bang chan, scoups, etc. For the most part they act more as a leader in being a spokesperson. You can see they're controlled by the company and do ehat they want instead of going against the company, leading their members and making hard decisions for the members, no matter if it's in opposition with the company. They're great leaders ofc, but nothing special.
Jungwon of Enhypen is an excellent and different kind of leader. He is the calm emotional center of the group even though he is the next youngest. He is the one to voice concerns for Engenes and members. Using his firm but quiet voice he gets things done like making sure that fans were taken care of when he found that Engenes going to music shows didn't have places to sit while waiting outside in the cold during music shows. He also helps to organize the treats and snacks for Engenes. He is the one who also changed the way v lives happened so that more than one member could share the same v live. Members talk about how Jungwan always takes care and supports them when they are doing solo projects. He did all of this starting at the age of 16. As to Enhypen not being an important group I don't think that's true. They are very popular internationally, especially in the USA. Japan and Southeast Asia
Not including GOT7 Leader JayB to this video is a disrespect to what he has done and accomplished for the team, Jay B wanted GOT7 to own GOT7 after leaving JYPE so he prepared for more than 2 years of all the legalities, distribution, trademark etc. ENCORE & GOT7 EP comeback were released after he studied all contracts of the members w/ different companies.
They are all grown ass mature people, why need a leader, unless U think they will act like children, and yes sometimes they do, isn't that what KPop fans like from them, they all act like they are kids in front of them and that's why you always call everything they do "Cute" 😂😂😂 I saw that when they even sneeze, you call it cute and even Fart will be cute too 😂😂😂 why have a leader? I see that they are all mature enough to be responsible. I see that group BP made it way easy and they seem to be fine, they managed to be in each other's support
@randomuser-nt9if so they are still children? And I saw some Trans and some are transforming them into girls too 😂 I see now, they are still kids indeed 🤣😞
I am sorry Try bringing 7 kids oldest 19 youngest 13 to listen and work together Its like not having a team captain have u seen football teams a captain is a must Again a leader is also tbe spokesperson I do agree that kpop fans do call them cute a little too much bit no haŕm is done so . . .
@@rlrk79991. i wiil assume ur not a kid as ur acc is very old Be mature. As a certified football fan i will say this. Bring cr7 to come sing dance and coordinate for 4hrs straight and i will say in this comp he isNOT THE GOAT 2. Make up guys look pretty and make money U are hiding behind a screen writing hate comments Show me atleast 5million dollars in your bank acc( which i doubt u have as u wouldnt be here) and atleast a good job to keep u OCCUPIED or else f*** off🙄😒😁😁😁
You talked about blackpink twice but didn't speak about how even though there's no leader, sometimes jisoo is the peacemaker of the group. there are so many videos showcasing her ability to make a situation right.
Only group leader u know that Really leads countless footage and evidence. No fandom hear say numerous footage of problem solving and the reason why the choreography is Always perfect. Yeah other groups can do a one take but Not All the Time . XG Jurin oh wait the a reason why they can’t be K-pop
People have wrong belief of the importance of leader role because they are still stuck in the history. Newjeans and Riize are the best examples of no-leader mz gen.
All the leaders mentioned in the video are the reason why group leaders are so important
^^^this ❤

GOT7’s Jay B deserves recognition after all he’s done to make sure GOT7 kept going after leaving JYP
Yes, he was the one who ensured they kept/owned the name GOT7 - first in kpop after a leaving a company as individuals

Leeteuk put a high bar for leadership for me
But I cant denied that also put a strain to his mental health.
A leader is needed. Even in groups where they don't have a leader like riize, has a acting leader and a vice leader. Jisoo for blackpink too.
Seventeen
No mention of B.A.P's leader Bang Yongguk is such a crime😢
B.A.P suffered so much under TS Ent, BYG being the eldest n longest trained was naturally chosen to be their leader even tho hes such a super Introvert.
3:06 Yes RM Aand Scoups are the best leaders in kpop no cap
Leaders are basically the captains of their teams like in sports
Most successful groups have great leaders so yes I think it's just as important as main vocal/dancer/visual.
Treasure now is going to have rotational leaders, every two to three years the leaders will change. It will help with the member's growth and also influence treasure's music going forward. Starting January of 2025, Junkyu and Asahi will be leaders.
You mentioned the most important leaders in the kpop industry help😭😭🙏
Treasure is no longer a 12 member group, they are now 10. And yes, they have 2 leaders but they also use rotational leader every 2 years now
Every team must have a leader.
She really took on that role with her entire heart and and always steps ups when she needs to
Suho thank you for always protecting your members and being an ray of hope to exols. Saranghaja ❤
Rm is really the best leader
i strongly believe the leader position is needed, specially if you are more than 4 people.
I’m so glad that Hongjoong from Ateez is mentioned here, he is the most bravest leader that always fight for justice and peace, truly a LEADER❤
without bangchan there is literally no stray kids AT ALL!! he is the heart n brain of the group. i dunno why but he reminds me of mike shinoda from linkin park.
Imo. Having a leader is very important!
I think leaders are important to have in groups with a lot of members
Respect all the leaders
Having a leader is very important. I hope they can continue to have leaders.
Agree
HONGJOONG mentioned 😍🔥
scoups is one main reasons why seventeen so successful , he best leader
My dear you forgot about Jang Yunguon and Subin ENHYPEN and TXT respectively 😮
Some groups might work perfectly without any leader and some might not. I'd say it all depends on the group's dynamic.
8:40 Opinions about treasure's leader changing situation rn
It's announced that starting from next year treasure's leader will be changed from Hyunsuk and Jihoon to Junkyu and Asahi... just after hearing this many questioned if it's right choice for YG since Hyunsuk and Jihoon are litterally the pillars, the parents of treasure like they can be a prime example of PERFECT LEADERS of a group... and i see many ppl are against it until now saying it's stupid and yes it's okay to be frustrated as it never happened to any group before so fans couldn't get a grip of it...
Soyeon ... best leader
i respect all the leaders
and i am happy that JIHYO the leader of my favourite group twice is still standing strong
Your lying if you said you’ve never heard of BTS especially when txt and enhypen constantly talk about them being their inspiration 😂
We don't care about them
Group leaders had to sleep with the CEO to debut .
3:05 "Stray Kids disband? Hah. Yeah, dis band called Stray Kids is a pretty cool band!" (c) Bang Chan
EXO Suho really struggled a lot 😢❤ respect him ❤
Some groups also have changing leaders.
When EXO's 3 member left EXO, suho maintain whole things alone 😢 respect him ❤
Not including GOT7 Leader JayB to this video is a disrespect to what he has done and accomplished for the team,
Jay B wanted GOT7 to own GOT7 after leaving JYPE so he prepared for more than 2 years of all the legalities, distribution, trademark etc.
ENCORE & GOT7 EP comeback were released after he studied all contracts of the members w/ different companies.
Also, he's still fighting to get GOT7 SNS and TH-cam account back.
5:54 Sorry but you got the year wrong here... not 2021
Thank you for the correction :)
I love the video but you got Shinee JongHyun death wrong he sadly passed away in December 2017 5:50
Thank you for the correction 💜
They are all grown ass mature people, why need a leader, unless U think they will act like children, and yes sometimes they do, isn't that what KPop fans like from them, they all act like they are kids in front of them and that's why you always call everything they do "Cute" 😂😂😂 I saw that when they even sneeze, you call it cute and even Fart will be cute too 😂😂😂 why have a leader? I see that they are all mature enough to be responsible. I see that group BP made it way easy and they seem to be fine, they managed to be in each other's support
cause they wouodnt have direction even grown ass people need some direction and guidance in a group of other people.
@randomuser-nt9if so they are still children? And I saw some Trans and some are transforming them into girls too 😂 I see now, they are still kids indeed 🤣😞
I am sorry
Try bringing 7 kids oldest 19 youngest 13 to listen and work together
Its like not having a team captain have u seen football teams a captain is a must
Again a leader is also tbe spokesperson
I do agree that kpop fans do call them cute a little too much bit no haŕm is done so . . .
@hanaa-nm7bk You really comparing an Athlete (Real Men) to these make-up Idols? 🤣 😂 😂
@@rlrk79991. i wiil assume ur not a kid as ur acc is very old
Be mature. As a certified football fan i will say this. Bring cr7 to come sing dance and coordinate for 4hrs straight and i will say in this comp he isNOT THE GOAT
2. Make up guys look pretty and make money
U are hiding behind a screen writing hate comments
Show me atleast 5million dollars in your bank acc( which i doubt u have as u wouldnt be here) and atleast a good job to keep u OCCUPIED or else f*** off🙄😒😁😁😁
You talked about blackpink twice but didn't speak
about how even though there's no leader, sometimes
jisoo is the peacemaker of the group. there are so
many videos showcasing her ability to make a
situation right.
Only group leader u know that Really leads countless footage and evidence. No fandom hear say numerous footage of problem solving and the reason why the choreography is Always perfect. Yeah other groups can do a one take but Not All the Time . XG Jurin oh wait the a reason why they can’t be K-pop
Be strong all the time is 'ot z quality of leadership
People have wrong belief of the importance of leader role because they are still stuck in the history. Newjeans and Riize are the best examples of no-leader mz gen.
Dumb ideas
THE LEADER WHO DIDN'T GO TO THE ARMY YES OF COURSE
