Don't worry man, you're not the only one. Used to when I played it I never even thought to leap over cover and trigger ARS during it which is actually incredibly useful. I didn't know you could flipkick an enemy and blast them while still in the air either. Sometimes it pays to watch how others play to see or learn things you never thought of doing. I went back and played through it again after seeing all this new stuff, it made it much more enjoyable.
Justxcaz basically. a real hidden gem solid gameplay, solid story, and pretty fast pace and different from other games during the time but also had its own fluid flavor. so basically its their own game.

I championed this game way back when it released when "Mahalo Games" was still a thing. And I just replayed it on my PS3 and can reconfirm that it is, indeed, an incredible game. It's extremely challenging as well, even on normal difficulty. I truly wish they would take out a sequel, as this is one of my favorite games of all time, underrated or otherwise.
lol! Especially the story and cutscenes!? So you are saying the best part of the game is not the game play LOL Ok, if that's what floats your boat but my boat floats with game mechanics.
This game was so much fun on 360. I just bought it on PSN for like $13. I have it downloading now and I can't wait to play when I get off work tonight.
In my mind, for class run action game Vanquish is top 10. on same level as Nier Automata, Metal Gear Rising, SpOps The Line, Binary Domain (Sega too) , Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1-3, Baldr Sky, Call of Duty (MW) and Titan Fall
Apologizes for the errors. Was up late at the office working on the video so I ended up not proofreading the description as much as I should. Been fixed :)
Alec Wilson I have the game myself .. I played it many times... It was praised for its stable framerate of 60fps despite how many goes on on screen ... Believe me... It was always 60 fps
binary domain was a good surprise to me. Probably got the same fate than Vanquish for the same reason: looks stupid. Games that look dumb normally have bad sales.
except binary domain actually had good story & gameplay doesn't compare to vanquish in gameplay, but story wise, its the best terminator like story ever executed and the design are also cool & human character have rich face expression
God, I hope so. Such a fantastic game and some of the most fun I've ever had gaming. Also, that game still looks good for a 'last-gen' title. I couldn't even imagine how incredible a sequel would look on modern consoles.

I got his when it came out thanks to NOOBTOOB, an old game review podcast that was on TH-cam back in the day. Tobin and Yuzo gave very honest reviews and Tobin's taste in games was a lot like my own. I never heard anything about Vanquish anywhere else but both hosts raved about this game. If it wasn't for Tobin and Yuzo's review I never would have discovered it even though it's one of the sickest most exhilarating games ever made. It's a super futuristic third person shooter like a tuned-up, ultra-hyper version of Gears of War. The stylish, tight, fluid wrecking sprees you can pull off are so satisfying. So many great mechanics like turbo sliding, Matrix-like time manipulation, insane boss fights, really cool guns, crushing death-blow melee attacks, and unique super devastating finishing moves. Vanquish 2 was planned years ago but never panned out. This NEEDS a sequel NOW! With our current graphics and processing, Vanquish 2 could be potentially mind blowing if they did it right like they did the first time.
The game really hits its stride on PC. Consistent 144fps with snappy, reliable controls combined with combat that relies on creative but aim-intensive shootouts result in something that genuinely feels like Gun-Fu.
This is why the Steam Deck is the best thing ever. Steam has a Bayonetta/Vanquish bundle on sale rn and I’m able to play games that I never had to chance til now.

probably because it didnt have ridiculous marketing budgets. think $100m+ plus marketing budgets for typical western titles, many of which are boring AF 70% cut scene games
I reviewed Vanquish way back when for a website I was working for. Amazing title. Also, I'm pretty sure 'ARS' stands for 'Augmented Reaction Suit', not 'Reality'. Also, it means you can comment on how much time Sam spends sliding around on his ARS.... :)
This game has the best 3rd person shooting I've ever played. As someone who's favorite games are mostly character action games, getting a 3rd person shooter that plays like a character action interpretation of the 3rd person genre is extremely fun. It feels wholly unique and exhilerating with it's brilliant mechanics and fast pace. It doesn't boil down to mostly hiding under cover and peaking up for hits. It actively encourages you to fly around the map and destroy enemies with speed and skill in the same manner DMC and MGR do. The perfect fusion.
I bought this game at Gamestop years ago not knowing a damn thing about it, but just thinking the cover was really cool and being intrigued since I love sci-fi shooters in general. Hell my cousin even tried to tell me not to get it because it wasn't a good game not having even played it, but after I started playing it, within like just 5 minutes I was already enjoying it. I had him sit down to watch me play and I go "Ok explain to me how the hell you thought this was a terrible game when as you can clearly see, IT'S FUCKING CHAOTIC AND AWESOME!" All he could do was say he was wrong, he was too amazed by what he was seeing just as much as I was. I made it very clear that I was glad I didn't listen to him and miss out on this.
Such an underrated game, the fun I had (and will get to have again soon) in effortlessly zipping and flipping around while switching out guns to creatively take out baddies never got old. In my opinion, this has yet to be matched by any recent fps. Once you get a taste of well-done and controllable speed and agility, it's hard to go back to the five second sprint and half-hearted jump.
This is one of those beautiful underrated gems that was out at that time, like Binary Domain, and Asura’s Wrath. Can’t wait to dive back into it on Xbox(it’s one of this months free games for gold).
Top notch gameplay, extremely rewarding at high levels of play, spectacular visuals and sound.. the fun never ends. It was ahead of it's time during the original release and still hasn't been matched after all this time. Can't believe the game hasn't gotten much more popular by now.
i must have finished vanquish at least 8 times .. i absolutely love it and really really hope there will ever be a sequel. vanquish is a feeling .. i feel vanquish!

It apparently could've been better. Its engine was eventually used for resident evil 4. The resident evil 4 development snarl is so insanely interconnected with the third person shooter genre and the character action game genre, it's absolutely nuts
whoa, this looks so good, and way ahead of its time. i am sad that i never heard of it till now. Like to play this remaster, or remake. where is the sequel for this.
I just picked this up again on Steam last week. I beat it on the 360 back when it came out. It is so fun. Also playing it at 1440p max settings at 144hz was great!
Valkyria Chronicles Remastered came to PS4 less than a year and a half after its PC release, I'd bet that both Vanquish and Bayonetta will make the jump in six months or less.
When I first saw it I expected it to be like a normal shooter, but wow It's a game I had a blast playing and completing! It's free for the month of May (Gold Users) and you'll regret not downloading it and playing it! I haven't had this much fun with a game in a while! A very underrated game
If Vanquish receives love from PC users i would really like to see more crazy shit like this from Platinum Games, besides Bayonetta wich is a fucking masterpiece on his own
The gunplay and movement feel fucking amazing. Mechanics too. Some online mutiplayer and coop and this would-be an all time classic. Still some of the most fun I've had in a single player shooter.
Amazing game. Hopefully it will get some sales this time, and maybe we will see a sequel. I wouldnt care which platform it appears on aslong as there is another installment.
Did you miss Vanquish when it was originally released? If so are you planning to check it out?

that titanfall 2 clip fucking killed me

I was thinking the same thing, they probably chose the least exciting clip of the entire game
This game needs a sequel, hopefully the 10th anniversary edition with bayonetta can sell enough to make it happen.
Totally agree, I still have it installed on my Xbone 👍
Aye I bought that bundle on sale. Great purchase

Warframe.

100 frames and 21:9 aspect ratio for me (hopefully)

at best we hope he return to make video game again... been 3 year since he even direct or do anything
say, if someone were to start a petition, do you think it would make its goal? I can't do it, I don't know how, but still....
Games like Vanquish, metal gear rising revengeance. definition of a fun action game

Yay, non stop action. As if there aren't enough games out there with non stop action.
Non-stop action in Platinum games are definitely different and better done than, say, the non stop action in Call of Duty and the sort.

When I first saw it I expected it to be like a normal shooter, but wow It's a game I had a blast playing and completing! It's free for the month of May (Gold Users) and you'll regret not downloading it and playing it! I haven't had this much fun with a game in a while! A very underrated game
If Vanquish receives love from PC users i would really like to see more crazy shit like this from Platinum Games, besides Bayonetta wich is a fucking masterpiece on his own
Did you check out Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and NieR: Automata?
I played the shit outta this on ps3, I bought it three times.
Thank you for mentioning this. If it's still on PSN it means i might have a chance to still download it (^^)
The gunplay and movement feel fucking amazing.
A fast pace shooter with a cool protagonist. Great challenge level and a ton of fun... Oh boy this game deserves a sequel.
imagine all this gameplay with hard rock music, man
abhinav pal I'd imagine it more with neon punk or something like that.
Carpenter Brut etc
This was the John Woo meets the matrix... everytime i play this i straight finesse that shit. Love this game.
