It was like the turning point for the expansion, it went from a fun expansion, to the most human and emotional story
The sorrow is palpable through the very notes that play
i didnt expect mortality, the pain of loss, and the need to be able to let go and move on when the time comes to be themes for dawntrail when we just had "hope in the face of existential despair and nihilism: the expansion", but you absolutely wont hear me complaining
Absolutely the turning point. This song is just incredible in how it captures two completely different ranges of emotion simultaneously.
all being weighed down on Bakool Jaja's shoulders. A burden and sorrow as deep as the sky.
I should have known the Summer Funtime Adventure in Tural would turn the moment I heard the dungeon endboss theme. I should have. I should have known Summer Funtime Adventure in Tural would turn when Bakool Ja Ja told us how Blessed Siblings come to be and the cost it has to the people of Mamook. I really should have. Skydeep was close, it certainly should have been the turning point.
For me, that was Heritage Found. The sudden, irreversible loss that it represents after the absolute hype that was In Fulgur and Fire (Vanguard) making me feel like a hero finally doing what heroes do: breaking through the enemy to save people on the other side. I didn't get to. Skydeep warned me things would turn, and I still was not ready.
@@TransientWitch that was absolutely chilling. What we found on the other side of the wall. I remember quitting for the night just after that dungeon, and I was scared to start up again the next day haha
Such an amazing musical duology. The hope of finding the Golden City...paired with a piercing, endless feeling of loss and sorrow.
i like how they used this track for the cutscene before the level 99 trial, because as different as his circumstance was, his complexes and madness were just as closely tied to the idea of "blessed births" as this dungeon was. placing massive expectations on someone simply for the way they were born never ends well for anyone involved, even if the only one holding them to that standard is themself.
Seriously, I love how they used this tune in cutscenes. The parallel you drew here was so cool, I didn't make that connection!
The whole 99 trial was wild, like you can tell what's been going through his head and it made me wish we could have helped him somehow, even though it's way too late by that point.
This is the song, THE SONG, I will remember most from the MSQ. It hit just right.

Easily one of my favorite tracks from Dawntrail. Amazing cover as always!
This track is such a great example of what the FFXIV soundtrack does so well with its use of motifs (I thinfk thays the right term), we hear it in the zone music during the day in the happy sung melody, a more chilled but still happy version during the night version and the sad, emotive version in the dungeon music.

I'm not crying!! You're crying!! Absolutely phenomenal sound in this one, great math rock/Intervals feel (please accept this as very high praise). Was discussing with a friend how EVERYTHING music-wise in DT is overwhelmingly good and I am SO pleased we have such absurdly talented members of the community here to make content like this and constantly remind Soken how much he and his work are adored AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
This song had me all emotional in game.. this got me all in my feelings
I know Dawntrail isn't perfect, but nothing is. Just like Bakool Ja Ja, it's not defined by its flaws, but by what's hiding deep beneath it. This moment was Dawntrail's Amaurot, its Elpis, the moment in Heavensward when we found out what really started the Dragonsong War. It was the point where the story pivoted towards something more meaningful. I feel like people miss moments like this when they judge the expansions in this game.

This song is, hands down, my favourite song in Dawntrail. It carries sadness for lives lost, yet amazement and wonder in what lies hidden in the deep. The story arc for Bakool Ja Ja is also one of my favourite arcs in DT. I see this song as much about Bakool Ja Ja as anything else this song is about. To me, this is Bakool Ja Ja's theme.
Except for the part where we just forgot he attempted mass murder via Valigarmanda. But I guess he told his sad backstory so he's a good guy now.
@@Jontman42 Oh, don't get me wrong. We know he did wrong. As Wuk Lamat said, he still needs to be punished. But that's sort of the point of his story: that people can do bad things in the name of what they feel is a good goal.
Absolitely stunning! Especially that part at 2:38, the two tones, almost like two heads at harmony, yet distinctly indivuduals.

I always say that I wouldn't be surprised by what Soken brings us because he always delivers, but man does that guy knock it out of the park, and then we get an amazing arrangement from Husky and then it's double the treat! Keep up the amazing work!

The first time I heard this theme, I couldn't help but think that it sounded very similar to David Wise's work (Donkey Kong Country composer), which made me love it even more

Absolutely my favourite, most standout piece this expansion for sure. It is the biggest moment in Dawntrail for me. The story revelations going on with this playing had a real 'transcendence' moment to it, incredible.

Due to FF16 raising my CBUIII music standards irrationally high, I was getting bored of DT music... until The Skydeep Cenote came along.
Your cover emphasizes the bits about the song that I love! The tempo, for one, is my favorite tempo, and making it rock just hits my preferences all too well. It kinda has the same tempo as Close in the Distance Primals version. The drums in the last before it loops back kinda reminds me of some of Sawano's music from the early 2010s. Lovely stuff!
