Thanks for the demo. We just ordered it. Many years ago we wanted a Parker Fly Mojo, but never pulled the trigger. We are glad that we didn't as we have the Roland GR-55. We are eager to utilize this great tool.
Hi Kennis, thanks for doing these demos brother, I just ordered a brand new, Godin XTsa yesterday in Dark Transparent Red and it arrived this morning. I will be using it for The Fillmore Pedal Company effects demos. You explained all the features very well. They are assembled right here in New Hampshire by the way though the company is based in Quebec. Thanks again you helped my make the right choice. You have a knack for explaining it very well and clearly. Bill
Thank you Kennis so much for the detailed review. I just had sweetwater ship me the Xtsa (Trans black), a Fender bluesman III amp, and the Roland G4-55. My head is swimming. Have played acoustic for about 25 yrs and a bit of electric as a youth (was luck to have had a Gibson Les Paul back in those days!) and I love this new Godin and cannot believe the quality and craftsmanship for only $998!! I'm confused a bit with the Synth but am sure it will come with time and practice. Happy Holidays
I gotta tell ya, this is one of the best reviews of a guitar I've seen and I've looked at hundreds. I am a strummer myself and this is very refreshing because a cheap guitar can sound OK fingerstyle but NEVER strumming. Most reviews do guitar licks or a bunch of bar chords up and down the neck. Great job and thanks. I like the Godin.
I just got this guitar today! Was having trouble finding any real quality information on it, as far as how it works and it's features. Then I stumbled upon your new video. This is awesome! Thank you so much! Really fantastic!!
So glad I came across this review. I also play in a Worship Band and I have been searching for a guitar to do all the things you mentioned. I truly appreciate the review of the guitar. Very well done.
I have entered into a layaway on a trans red XTSA... your video demo was a big part in nudging me into the decision... I also play praise and worship music...
Hi there Kennis - I really like your review - well done - I also really like how you respond to uncouth people who are rude in the comments page - I wish more people in the world would cultivate such endearing humility - I don't know what faith you follow but you are a credit to the spiritual path.
Thank you for this great review. I'm a P&W leader and this is the guitar I need. I ordered one and it will be here tomorrow. Gr-55 IT'S IN THE NEAR FUTURE !!!
Bought one a year ago and was sceptical, however, it is my favourite guitar. Excellent in every aspect. Quality of craftsmanship is outstanding. Any sound you want, this guitar will give you it.
Am also a praise and worship musician and really been thinking about this guitars for a vary long time and after seeing your video i am totally convince this should be my next guitar. God Bless...
Great Video. I also own a Godin xtSA. Really beautiful guitar, I truly love it !!! Just a Note - RMC Pieso Acoustic Pickup is a ACTIVE PICKUP. If the cable is plugged in, it will drain the battery. The guitar manual doesn't say where the battery is LOL . The 9v battery is behind the EQ compartment. You need to un-screw it to change it. Hope this info helps :)
Bless you man!!! Nice job on the review/explanation. I too own one of these and they are TRULY awesome guitars on that alone. I used the three outputs simultaneously and it it friggin' HUGE sounding. Keep doing what you're doing! God Bless Bud.
I became familiar with this particular model guitar first hand, as my acoustic guitar teacher, also owns this model. It was really nice being able too see it personally before purchasing. Although, I had never really asked too much about it, as I wasn't in the market at that time, for an electric guitar. Once I did decide to buy, the Goden seemed an easy choice. I however, was struck by the lack of easily obtained information, concerning it's many features. Your video came at a perfect time!
How have I not noticed these guitars before??? Wow... I also do praise and worship music at my church and this demo video of yours really highlights this incredible instrument. I was very impressed, especially at (atound 15:00) how realistic the acoustic guitar sound is. And when you hit all three... electric pup-acoustic piezo-synth... wow... something moved inside of me through this video. Thanks you...
I watched your excellent review and was so impressed I bought a xtSA . It is even better than I expected .So an handshake for your assistance , and a ( virtual ) beer.
After thinking about getting a Guitar with synth capability and seeing your review of the Godin ATSA, I went ahead and ordered one along with the Roland GR-55 guitar synthesizer. Should receive it next week. I can't wait. Thanks for this in-depth review.
Good concise review. I was deliberating between three or four guitars, but thanks to this review, I've ordered a lovely Godin XTSA. Fits in a treat with everything I need. Well done.
Thank you. There was no manual to read. By watching your video, I know how to operate this awsome guitar. Precise and clear directions as well descriptions. Thank a million.
Your review of this guitar and your review and demo of the Roland GR-55 are, in my opinion, the best on youtube! I recently ordered the Godin xtsa. It's on back order but I should get it by the end of July if all goes well. Once I get it I'm plugging it right into the GR-55! I'm gonna be looking at your videos a whole lot once I get everything set up. Thanks for putting up such informative reviews!
Such a high quality piece of hardware. Just ordered a Koa one. I've a Passion series aswell. My brother has an Icon convertible and it sounds even better than my LP. No idea why more people don't praise these guitars. They're so well built and designed. They do the best fretboard in the business.
I LOVE GODIN GUITARS! I have a redline1 I bought used at guitarcenter for $299(org $529) and couldn't be happier.Ive been playing mainly Fenders and Gibson for the last 17 years but fell in love with this gem.Whats great is you can find Godins used or on Craigslist for a very good price.Excellent review, very detailed.
@Hocus Smokus Not 100% positive, but 99% sure that there is not a Godin XTSA that is just a regular guitar. I know Godin pretty well as they are my favorite guitar makers. The SA part of that lettering stands for Synth Access
Great detailed review, thanks for taking the time to do this brother. I am now on the way to demo this guitar for myself and most likely will buy it after a week or so. I have always been a Les Paul kinda guy, I have 3 Gibson Les Paul (great guitar by the way) but real heavy. God bless you
Great demo! I love Godin products - great value, great quality! I have one in Koa and use it for worship as well, in conjunction with the Roland synth. God bless!
Super cool sounding guitar. The pickup/output combinations fill in all of the empty space that you won't get without a lot more instruments playing. I want one!
Great review brother - I just bought one the other day, should arrive in a couple of weeks... I tried it out against the Koa XTSA and the LGXT (which I was originally going to get), but decided on the same one as on the vid. Although I wanted it primarily for the acoustic and synth for studio stuff, I was really impressed with the stock pickups that came with it. This will be the second Godin that I'll have owned - they really make great stuff... can't wait!
+Kennis Russell ... I've been playing an xtSA since 2006 ... wouldn't trade for anything. I use a GR-1, had a GR-20, and upgraded that to a GR-55 ... use a 13-pin MIDI splitter to drive the GR-1, the GR-55, AND feed a GI-20 to an Roland XV2020 synth module. It's an EXTREMELY versatile guitar ...
I am a big fan of yours. You've taught so much on the GR55. I have been looking for the right guitar. Based on my research and your video I have decided to get the Godin xtsa. I'm going to name mine the Godin-sidemyheart.
I had a GR1 synth way back when, and I was looking at what it would take to upgrade my old Ibanez to do what I wanted it to do. I was somewhat dismayed as I started doing the math and the numbers kept getting higher and higher. Then I got a catalog in the mail (shows how long ago this was) that featured this - for just a little more than retrofitting my old Ibanez, I could have a brand new one. And like you, I found it to be a fantastic instrument. What you didn't mention was how comfortable that neck shape is on the hand - I used to play until my left hand went numb, but this thing didn't do that to me at all. Now, there is one little drawback you failed to mention -- this thing is HEAVY!! I'm talking bricks hanging from your neck. Nothing else I have ever played weighs as much as this. So keep that in mind. Also, apparently the new ones are using richlite instead of ebony for the fret boards - just in case that's a deal killer for you (although I don't see why). Now, if I could only scrape up enough money to get an A4 Ultra (since I'm playing bass now)...
This is the best guitar review I have seen - Fantastic Job! I have had three Godin's all of which were great. I have one Multiac Nylon SA now, and am considering one of these, with an upgrade to the GR55 from my GR20. Many Thanks for putting these reviews up. Going to watch your GR55 review now. Big Ron
Thanks, that was really informative. I'm wavering between an SG Standard and this guitar which are both roughly the same price. (I notice you have an SG special on your wall). You might have tipped the balance to Godin here.
Very thorough review, thank you so much. I realize this is getting to be pretty old now, but both the guitar and Roland synth are still for sale. I guess that speaks to a winning formula? Anyway, thanks a bunch. I was dreaming of modifying a Squier strat with the Graphtech system, but I think for a grand or so, this is a much better choice. I didn't realize this option was available, so thank you for being so thorough.
I'm a professional musician and i'm touring with some pretty big names and let me tell you, this is an amazing sounding guitar, Godin makes incredible instruments, i already a Godin Progression Boutique and i fell in love with it, this one it's coming very soon!!!! God Bless you Bro' Cheers for these v
Great review on this instrument. I have a Godin Progression and a Seagull Artist Mosaic....big fan of this company. The XTSA jar is a very interesting combination. The only way I would consider the complex array of electronics and controls is by knowing the quality processes of the Godin engineers and craftsmen. Cheers Kennis, I am now a subscriber!
Man that is a great video. I have owned an A6 Godin for a while and put an GK2 on it with a GR Roland and there is latency issues. I watched your video and pulled the trigger on a XTSA just like yours, coming in soon. thanks.
A quick thanks for your review as it persuaded me to buy. Yes it IS a great guitar: I have the same colour as yours. The unexpected bonus is the great jazz sound that I can get with the neck pickup and a little acoustic mixed in. Thanks again!
I have this instrument. I really like it. The one thing though is the neck is more like what would be on an acoustic guitar and was a bit of a surprise when I got it. However, once you get accustomed to it, it plays great. Buckers have more of a smooth compressed sustain but using less gain than you might with other guitars you can still get 'bite'.
Very Professionally presented with a nice tonality and allure to keep the audience interested! :) And then the guitar sang in your hands putting everything together beautifully! Thank You my Friend. I liked and Subscribed, Cant wait to see some more awesome content! :)
Excellent review Kennis. I wondered how the Godin guitars sounded before and must say, I'm quite impressed with the range of acoustic tones the instrument has. It's the most acoustic sounding solid bodied electric I've heard to date. Kudos to you for a thorough and objective review the few haters try to trivialize.
Great demo. I had been only considering the GC-1 Strat, and the Carvin midi access guitars. Very impressed with Godin. Would have liked to see a demo of the GR-55 sounds too. Thanks.
Yes, great review! A friend just got the Godin LGX-SA and he said it's his number one guitar now! Thanks for the review definitely my next guitar Now I have to choose between the the "whammy bar" one or the non-"whammy bar". The non whammy bar you can spilt the coils. So, that's the thing do I want to split the coils, also I like the whammy. I use it just for colorization of notes, not for "Dive-Bombing" LOL! Again thanks for the review! Cheers, Rob.
Hey great review. Thanks. You have sold me on this guitar. I've been looking at various piezo electrics ... but this one seems so versatile. Can't wait to get it. And a great Canadian company. I guy I work with is a cousin of Godin, so its now become a no brainer to get this. Ha. Thanks. Great videos on the Roland too. Thanks.
Thanks! Great review... Just been looking at the Rosewood Limited in the XTSA... All but ready to make the investment! I was surprised how well it played through my BOSE L1 COMPACT small PA, no need for any in-between pedals to alter the otherwise high frequencies. There just weren't any high frequencies. Anyway... The versatility and great sound seems to make this guitar a no-brainer.Also, thanks for providing the sound clips from a dry or clean amp, makes getting a sense of the true guitar much easier.
Just bought this guitar yesterday. It's pure, straight, awesome. Just using it as an electric for now... but I'll keep my eyes out for a guitar synth down the road.
Best review ever bro of Godin xtSA! Would definitely save some money to have one. Thanks a lot bro for a great review. It would be a fantastic guitar to glorify God. :) God bless.
Oddly enough, I live in the South of Ireland and the local guitar shop (there's only 1 :)) saw godin guitars at their first European trade show and became a buyer. So there's a disproportionate number of Godin players where I live as we've all had a few years to compare the price and quality difference of US Strat versus Godin LGXT etc. He sells Gibson, Fender, Jackson, Ovation & even PRS but Godin are the most popular. They're just better value.
I bought this guitar almost 3 years ago. I'm very pleased with the sound, although I had some pick-up problems with one of my humbuckers recently. I'm still saving up for a guitar synthasizer, though, they are quite expensive
Nice good review. I got an xtSA too and I like it very much (I use it in my uploads most of the time, very versatile...). I like to combine high piezo with lower neck humbucker, but also add in a slight synth... All the best, Ton
Great Review and Demonstration. I have been looking at these for quite some time and have wondered how the acoustic sounds were. For what the pickups are, they do sound pretty good and think I am going to pull the trigger and buy one! If only you could get commission!
Great. Thanx a lot. Now I'm gassing for a Godin. I play worship with an Ernie Ball Petrucci Jp-6, and I agree the Piezo and mag pickups together is fantastic. I do a similar setup, with the piezo straight to the house and the mags through my effects board. Now, I'm thinking the midi would be great if you're down a guitar, or the keyboard player doesn't show up. Thanks for the great review. Man, if I can just get my wife to think it's her idea to buy the new guitar...
Very cool - I might get one some day but I already have a guitar with the GK-3 pickup. Our worship team doesn't have a drummer or bass player so I've been pre-recording backing tracks and loading them with a USB thumb drive into the GR-55. I use the Reaper DAW and besides drums and bass, I can use the GR-55 to add strings, horns, and acoustic guitar. New horizons have opened up. Psalm 150 - Praise Him!
I'd love to see a comparison of this guitar and the Roland GC-1. A side by side review. I'm thinking about going with the GC-1 Roland Strat + the GR-55, but after seeing this Godin synth ready guitar I'm torn. It would also be nice to hear this guitar playing some other styles of music (hard rock, rock, Gilmour style, etc). Thanks.
Thanks for your review..... You should get if you don't have already ... Roland's VG-99 or Antares ATG-1. These all work off the 13 pin fantastically. Both these would offer the ability to have a guitar that can instantly change tunings digitally to play any cover song you would come across. *** Either of these would offer more than tunings, but that alone makes it worth it for learning and playing various cover songs. There are virtual guitar models such as 12 string acoustics, Fenders, Gibsons, or even capo or whammy controls via controllers.
+Kennis Russell - I am actually considering buying that guitar.. from Sweetwater Music. I like what you said about this guitar. I was already considering buying it, and was cruising TH-cam for reviews on it. The Antares ATG-1 is really pretty close to what you already own in the GR-55. The only thing the Antares ATG-1 offers which is different, but pretty awesome is perfect intonation throughout the entire guitar. It would not offer the synth sounds, but would offer about 10 modeled guitars with perfect intonation throughout the whole guitar. So why consider the ATG-1? *Unlike my VG-99 and your GR-55, you would not be confined to the sounds in those devices or need to use those devices to take advantage of tuning and guitar simulations through other guitar or midi gear. * Your guitar would also be in perfect tune at a touch of a button in any tuning you prefer. You never need to stop and tune between songs, or worry something is slightly out of tune recording etc.
Thanks for your time. This will be my next guitar.
That my friends is a review and demo! Great job! The acoustic was amazing, wasn't expecting that.
Wow, very accurate description of the guitar and all of its capabilities. Well done.

This is an example of a review you took your time on had the right strategy and did an excellent job on nice
I just got this guitar today! Was having trouble finding any real quality information on it, as far as how it works and it's features. Then I stumbled upon your new video. This is awesome! Thank you so much!
Really fantastic!!
This is the best review of the xtSA I've seen, it was worth the wait. Thanks for taking the time to do it Kennis. Be blessed.
So glad I came across this review. I also play in a Worship Band and I have been searching for a guitar to do all the things you mentioned. I truly appreciate the review of the guitar. Very well done.
Kennis, wow that is such a comprehensive and well performed demo-review. You are Godin's #1 salesman!
Hi Kennis,
I have just ordered an XTSA mainly due to your excellent review.
Thank you!
I have entered into a layaway on a trans red XTSA... your video demo was a big part in nudging me into the decision... I also play praise and worship music...
Best review ever - you put a lot of work into this and it shows - excellent job! I have this guitar and love it.
Hi there Kennis - I really like your review - well done - I also really like how you respond to uncouth people who are rude in the comments page - I wish more people in the world would cultivate such endearing humility - I don't know what faith you follow but you are a credit to the spiritual path.
Thank you for all the important details on the knobs and controls - UPS brought my XTSA today. I was bewildered until I viewed your video.
Thank you for this great review. I'm a P&W leader and this is the guitar I need. I ordered one and it will be here tomorrow. Gr-55 IT'S IN THE NEAR FUTURE !!!
Well man, really nice review indeed!!! This might just be the gem I've been looking for for so many years...
Bought one a year ago and was sceptical, however, it is my favourite guitar. Excellent in every aspect. Quality of craftsmanship is outstanding. Any sound you want, this guitar will give you it.
Kennis, thanks for going through with the xtsa review. Thanks for your patience with my constant badgering to do this.
Am also a praise and worship musician and really been thinking about this guitars for a vary long time and after seeing your video i am totally convince this should be my next guitar. God Bless...
I didn't expect the acoustic to sound so good
It doesn't, if you're a typical acoustic player
Dude, this is such a terrific review. Tells everything a person would want to know. Way to go!!

Thanks Kennis - really useful! I already have the Roland GR55 and this looks like a real contender!

best review on xtsa ever, got mine, thanks. it is great piece of art
I just bought one of these today for $150 (slight crack in the neck, easy fix). Had no idea how to "work" it, thanks for the education. Very good btw.
@whatthe Right? It's a 1100 dollar guitar
@Hocus Smokus Not 100% positive, but 99% sure that there is not a Godin XTSA that is just a regular guitar. I know Godin pretty well as they are my favorite guitar makers. The SA part of that lettering stands for Synth Access
Another *great* review. Thanks for the time and affort you put into this, Kennis. Keep up the good work!
Great review, I had to go out and get one for myself. Glad I did. I also lead worship and the added sounds really make a difference.
Very good review! I like the honest, long explanation and the editing. Keep it up.
Buying one of these guitars. Ordered it last night, and I'm excited when it comes in the mail! Thanks for the review, Kennis!
Guitar + mail? I'm not there yet...
Great review, very thorough. Love how you can mix/match acoustic, electric + synthesizer tones, very cool.

Nice job. I took your advice and bought one. Just got it but so far it sounds better than my Parker Mojo Fly.
Very professional review! Really spot on information and sound examples.
Thanks a lot!
I bought the exact same guitar, it is a nice versatile guitar for the price.
Sustain was fair, overall I'm happy with it.

Very compliments! You're very professional and this video is really well built! High quality!

Buckers have more of a smooth compressed sustain but using less gain than you might with other guitars you can still get 'bite'.
Dude- excellent demo, thank you. Good job.
Very professional review + nice playing ...N of course this guitar is mind blowing !!!!
Just bought it yesterday, what a pleasant surprise and wow it's good!
First new guitar after 10 years and your review added so much more. Cheers!
The acoustic/center pup combo was very nice!
Thanks.
Each pickup and piezo mix really well! I think I like the middle pickup the best...
Excellent review. Thank you very much for posting.
YEAH! i play a Godin NA in church through a GR-20 adding acoustic upright bass or trumpets or pianos and keyboards, the RMC pre- amp is marvelous!
Fantastic review...thank you for taking the time...
HE'S BACK BABY!
Yes I am! Good to see ya Jim
this is a really good informative video, thanks for all the detail!
Hi Kennis, Thank you for this great review!
When I heard that acoustic sound I was like "wow!". I didn't know an electric guitar could sound like that.
IT is very very helpful review.... I was looking for a guitar and YOU convinced me so much :)
Thank you
Excellent job on this video!Thank you!
Godin make the best guitars in my opinion. That acoustic sound is incredible!
Thanks.
amazing review fella..you clearly love the guitar and we can all see why..I m very tempted. I mgonna blame you when the missus goes mad though!
