Back with another "STUDIO vs LIVE" video, this time....featuring the Disney VILLAINS!
The Disney Villains, as spiteful and evil as they are, have often received some of the most iconic tunes to sing. From the insanely climactic Hellfire, to the devilishly sinister Be Prepared and many more....these are songs which have stayed with us just as much as the Heroine or Hero songs. Now how do the singers behind these songs, the voices behind these villains fare when they're pit together with their studio recording on one side, and a live rendition of it on the other?
Would they be convincingly evil in both? Or would they surpass their antagonism in the live performance? Or well; perhaps their black magic only works within the closed walls of a studio? Let's see how do these following artists, which are featured in the video, fare :-

PS - For Frollo and Tamatoa, I sadly didn't find the live performance of the original English voice artists; hence I used international voice artists' recordings (Hungarian and Hindi respectively) so that these two iconic villains don't get left out from this lineup.

A few things to clarify:
1. Two of the villains featured in the video, *Frollo and Tamatoa* DO NOT have their English voice actors in here simply because they don't have any live performances available as of now.
2. A few villains like Dr Facilier are missing in the video because for them as well, I couldn't find any live performance on the internet.
3. Jeremy Irons is indeed Scar's voice, but his voice was only featured for the first half the song, the second half being pulled off by Jim Cummings, who is hence, ALSO the voice of Scar, and is featured because he performed one line and a laugh live. Jeremy doesn't have any live performance of "Be Prepared" available yet so it's impossible to add him. Sorry.

Technically because that's the only line Jim Cummings did in the whole song. Jeremy Irons wrecked his throat from the rest of the song so they had to pull in a voice double... who happened to be Jim Cummings, who also does Tigger and Winnie the Pooh.
I met Jim Cummings in Florida at Downtown Disney in 1998 or 2000 (surprisingly there weren't many people there, but he'd just started a meet and greet in the shop that sold lithographs). He was a nice bloke and had wild hair that matched the personality of tigger - he did the voice for us too

Jeremy could only ever actually sing the song once because of his throat injury. In other words, you wont ever see or hear him sing the song, poor dude probably still has trauma from it x)
Jim Cummings was also on hand cause he voiced "Ed"....He also voiced Scar in Simba's Pride.
Look up his wiki...you will be blown away by the voices he has done....
If they ever decide to do a live-action remake of Tangled I really hope they pick Donna Murphy again for Gothel. She looks a bit like Gothel, she is the voice of Gothel. If she can also act (not sure if she does acting or not besides voice acting...) then I think she would do great.
She's done Broadway musicals so I bet she could do it!

I think Eden Espinosa would also be amazing. She was Cassandra in Tangled the Series.
The animation process these days means characters often look and act like their voice actors, because the animators can actually sit in on the recording sessions. That's why Elsa's mannerisms match Idina Menzel's stage habits.

I figured that Jodi would voice Vanessa since Vanessa is using Ariel's voice but it still shocks me that she voiced a villian and sang as a villian
If hearing Gothel's voice wasn't enough to develop at least a little crush, you only need to watch Donna Murphy doing her song live to completely fall in love. She is gorgeous!

Am I the only one who noticed that when Hans says "I've been searching my whole life to find my own place," he seems to be singing a song about Anna, but he motions to all of Arendelle? Subtle foreshadowing, very cool.

I like how the voice actors both do the regular voices and the singing voices, because they used to have two different people for each character if they sang. One for acting, and one for singing. So yeah I like that they went the route of finding people who can act and sing, it makes it more believable.
In some cases they still did though. The only one I know for sure is that Scar's speaking voice was done by Jeremy Irons.

Bobby Buehler sams with Nightmare Before Christmas, Danny Elfman sang all of Jack Skellington’s songs, even though Chris Sarandon spoke his dialogue
I'm sure there's a few that only had one actor for both parts, I just find it more the other way; with there being one for each part. I think having one actor for both parts makes the character come to life that much more.

I went to Comic Con one year and met Oogie Boogies voice actor and he was the nicest, most humble man. "Come take a pic with me darlin" he was so sweet!!

As a Hungarian, who has grown up on these Disney movies it was such a nice surprise to see (and hear) Szvétek László in this video. Never thought any "foreign" youtuber would know and also use the Hungarian version ever. Guess world is changing. :) Anyway thank you for bringing up my good-old memories, loved the compilation!

This is how iconic in my mind Scar is as a character - the amazing Jeremy Irons blew his voice out singing Scar in 'Be Prepared' so another iconic actor had to step in to finish the song - Jim Cummings. I will never get over how well done the animated The Lion King was done

Dang Jodi Benson did an amazing job capturing Ursula's natural voice, it was years before I knew that it was her as Vanessa and even then I wasn't really convinced until I looked it up.

A curious fact is that Ursula is inspired by Divine, a Drag Queen and I even think that Disney wanted her to do the voice of Ursula but unfortunately she passed away, so Pat Carrol was in charge of doing the voice of this great villain. But the funny thing is that the one who voiced Ursula in the Mexican dubbing for all of Latin America and Spain was the Mexican actor Angel Garza, better known by his stage name Serena Olvido, a Drag Queen. And his performance was 10 out of 10

A little bit of trivia- the man singing the song for Frollo has the last name of Laszlo. The actor who voiced the English version (speaking at least, not sure if he also sang) was in an episode of “Golden Girls” and his name was Laszlo 😁 idk why that makes me so happy. This is a great video. I love how the animators most times incorporate the voice actor’s looks into their drawings. One final note, I was lucky enough to get Jodi Benson’s autograph at Epcot a few years back and she is the epitome of a true Disney princess! She is so sweet and patient.
