I was thinking about picking up some of these but since they don’t come with any accessories I’m out. Hawkgirl needs her mace. And Aquaman needs his trident. Even his basic figure from back in the day came with that.
They kept the same length torso as Hawkgirl but gave her the ridiculously long legs so she'd be as tall as Supes and Aquaman. That might seal it as a "pass" for me on her.
They are 45% off right now basically half off for the set of 8, if you are an in box type for sure a good deal great artwork and nostalgic!...also you don’t have to sign up to DC Universe anymore they are on the regular shop DC site.
Good review JC, I’m a huge Batman and DC Animated fans. I hope we get more figures for this line in the future. I know there’s a lack of accessories for these figures but they have to keep the cost down due to a limited run. I doubt we’d ever get these figures if DC Collectable didn’t make make them.
Hey Jay C. Great video. I was waiting for someone to take a look at these figures. I got my set about a month or so ago. I really like this set. I'm a huge Justice League fan and try to collect as many versions of the League I can. These look great on the shelf. Like you said, DC Collectibles nailed the likeness from the cartoon. Soon as I saw these teased I knew I was gonna get them. I signed up for the DC Universe streaming service soon as it became available. I gotta say I really enjoy it. This figure set was a big reason for me signing up but I would've signed up even if these weren't exclusive. And I'm glad I did. Thanks for the review.
I was about to say it'd be cool to see a few more Justice League characters get the DC Collectibles treatment, but I don't think they'll bother. Counting JLU, there's like a thousand of them, and they've already done a pretty extensive toyline. A couple Static Shock figures would be nice, or maybe some Batman Beyond villains. If they release a Blight figure, I'm buying it.
Aquaman and Flash both appeared in Superman the Animated Series for one episode each. In that show Aquaman had both hands and a more classic look, while Flash had much harder black outlines
I think the lack of accessories and stand turnarounds (even w/the new BTAS figures) has to do with poor sales. This line started to plummet in popularity a few years ago. The track record wasn't good to begin with with breakages, and so many wanted super articulation. I think the aesthetics of these figures is what makes them action figure perfection. But most collectors don't agree, yet DC Collectibles is passionate about trying to get these made.
If Wonder Woman doesn't have a lasso accessory, the would you really call it WONDER WOMAN! TBH WHAT'S WONDER WOMAN WITHOUT HER FULL OUTFIT AND UTENSILS! SHE NEEDS HER LASSO! I am only saying this because the Justice League figures are known for not coming with accessories compared to the Batman Animated Series/the New Batman Adventures (which their figures do come with accessories).
awesome review Jay C, I have always enjoyed your videos, along with Toy Galaxy, The Fwoosh, Pixel Dan and a few others have always been my go to channels on action figure news, but sadly enough all good thing must end, and later this year after the last per orders come in I will be hanging up my wallet, after the last couple of years or so and well over 1000 figures later, I am out of room, I am an opener and displayer. That means everything I buy I open and put on display. and with marvel legends and dc figures, star wars to Neca, transformers to wwe and so many more, I have sadly enough been pushed to my limit and have to call it quits. I have been a collector on and off for 45 years starting in 1976 with the mego Batman, Superman and Spider-man but at the age of 53 I am now calling it good. So with all of that said, Keep up the great job on the figure news. and most of all enjoy the hunting and collecting.
They didn't even do the bare minimum: Lasso for Wonder Woman, lantern for Green Lantern, mace for Hawkgirl, trident for Aquaman, batrang for Batman. Let alone interchangeable head with goatee for GL and normal hand for Aquaman. I love JL animated but won't buy these, also doubt we´ll ever get other main characters like Luthor, Green Arrow, Darkseid, Brainiac, etc...

Total pass. And it griefs me to miss out on the JUSTICE LEAUGE for the animated line. But as basic as they come and as difficult to get, these are not worth the price or effort (especially living in Europe were you have to trade an arm and leg to acquire them on the secondary market). I'm looking forward to the next wave of animated figures, they come with accessoires and all, even some updated articulation. Hopefully DC collectibles tease something beyond even that at Toy Fair. Their essentials line is a joke to my eyes but prity much all they push forward these days. I love their designer series and animated line and hope those continue without such shenanigans as these JL figs.
the quality control is horrible. i’ve continually received damaged figures and kept having to have them replaced. and now i hear they might be discontinuing this run.
DC direct/collectibles needs to do the entire Justice League unlimited team. at least I think so. I would love to get the entire collection. Also, it wouldn't hurt to give them accessories. for example, green arrow could have Arrows and also his bow. you could also make star girl and give her staff to her. you could also make vigilante or shining night or any of them. I think it would be great to do the entire Justice League unlimited team. I love this size of action figure scale so. Oh, it would be just wonderful. if there was a way to get in touch with the toy makers who made these. I would definitely do it.
This was the only reason I considered signing up for the streaming service. In the end just didn't seem like it was worth the money. I am bummed to not be able to purchase these at a reasonable price. Would have looked great on the shelf. Just out of my price range.
I wish they reused the same figure from the animated series Superman one. Because I really want that one and it’s hard as shit to find now and not pay at least $100 for.
Literally the only reason I considered getting the streaming service.. now that I’ve seen them I can say I’m glad I didn’t. No accessories, bad paint, and that same awkward articulation DC Mattel is known for. On a positive note, that money will go towards my Mezco Punisher and Neca Gremlins.. Extremely disappointed with these guys
I wish we could go back to these pre-McFarlane figures. They were just better in every way. EDIT: Well, except for Wonder Woman. The proportions look way too off.
Great looking figs. which should be around $15 considering the zippo accessories & no display stands. Weak effort by DC Collectibles to not at least include basic figure stands for figures that for the most part don't stand on their own. Price for each is > $30 with tax & shipping which is a Ripoff IMO. I've also seen other reviews of these figs noting various QC issues on paint apps, chipping, etc. so order at your own risk. Also ridiculous you have to subscribed to DCU to be able to get these so, as a result, DC Collectibles loses some goodwill points on my rating of OEMs. Thanks for the review.
@@riseofloganxlogan4230 What difference does that possibly make? If anything they sb cheaper since DC Collectibles is ripping off customers already by requiring a streaming subscription just to be able to purchase these figs. Like I said in my original comment - Ripoff IMO.
No, I'm not planning on signing up for the DC service. I want to watch Young Justice, sure. That's about the only reason I'd sign up for that service (though my mind may change some day). The only figure I really want is Superman, so again...not worth signing up for the service. I feel these figures are the bare minimum of what DC Collectibles can do. That's a shame given their history with the Batman TAS line. I'll seek out Superman second hand at conventions. I'm not paying the full cost for just a figure and a bunch of packaging.
I consider the animated series line as one of my two favourite lines ever..but DC Collectibles has gotten lousy the last few years. With the exclusivity of these figures that, with no extra hands, no turnaround stands, no accessories to think of. Then the last four BTAS figures....no stands. I know there excuse would be keeping the cost down, but other lines don't suffer. Or why not charge a few dollars more so we can get the stands all our other figures are using.
I don’t know why you would give kudos to giving them a gripping hand with no accessories. All that says to me is that they knew they should’ve come with something and then they didn’t give it to us. Cheating out doesn’t deserve praise.
No accessories and the Wonder Woman figure's face looks awful. When is DC going to stop mass producing mailed-in crap and actually give us some quality figures

They included the grip hands because accessories were eliminated. I know Aquaman at least had an alternate left hand at SDCC.

Awesome review. The only one I'm intrested in is the Superman. Its broader look makes it perfect for a custom animated Kingdom Come figure.
