Lyrics Here in my place and time And here in my own skin I can finally begin Let the century pass me by, standing under the night sky Tomorrow means nothing I was only a child then Feeling barely alive when I heard a song from a speaker of a passing car Praying to a dying star, the memories fading I can almost remember singing( La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la) (La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la) We watched the end of the century Compressed on a tiny screen A dead star collapsing and we could see Something was ending Are you through pretending? We saw the signs in the suburbs You could have never predicted that it could see through you Kasparov, Deep Blue, 1996 Your mind's playing tricks now Show's over so take a bow And leave it in the shadows (La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la) (Oh, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la) Hey Put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? And hey Put the laptop down for a while In the night there is something wild I feel it, it's leaving me
Awesome film. Awesome music video. I see you got that rolling dolly too. I can't ever make my shots while using it turn out as good as you did here though.
These kids are all so consumed with their personal lives that they forget to look around once and a while and notice all the wonderful stuff that's around them. They dont know what their missing out on because their distracted by everything in their own lives. This song is like a wake up call to tell people that their missing out on so much. (Hence them shutting peoples laptops) and once they see everything that they've been missing out on they learn to appreciate it. Just my interpretation :p
I would have been really cool to see, maybe a CGI effect of an aureora borealis(northern lights) at the end, right on top of the sea. The northern lights could of have represented the LCD panels in a natural way. Turning all white and black gangs into one different color
Awesome. Only thing I would have added was some footage of police driving around in the same city to sort of carry on with the police state theme that is in their video for suburbs
Whatever kids feel this way, at least they are attempting to express it in a legitimate and artistic way. If you are going to argue that existential problems don't plague the majority of today's youth then you are wrong. Take your judgement somewhere else.
***** Yes! Had the same effect on me the first time I heard it, so committed the chord progression to memory: i - bVII(4-3) - III - VI the first time round, and i - bVII(4-3) - III - (V7c or viio7b)* - i the second, and * is the hair-stand-on-end chord, either a dominant seventh in 2nd inv. or a dominant minor ninth in first inv.
No. Not these kids. Watch the video again and listen to "Rococo" again. It's quite evident that the kids of "Rococo" were not of the level of understanding of the kids who made this video. I have respect for Arcade fire; I have respect for the makers of this video. I don't have that respect for the kids of "Rococo." Likewise, the realization of the characters in the video would render any attachment of the "Rococo" label towards them as unjustified.
I think you used way too much steady shots for an arcade fire song and also you could do a better job of keeping the rhythm in the editing process. But after all nice work in that sort of lighting situation.
I was so happy when this song was at the end of boyhood
I'm of the impression that you can put literally any clips to an arcade fire song and it'll still come out artistic-like. But maybe that's just me.
You're right
One of my 10 favourite songs of all.
and the others ? i'm just curious.
Same
Same here.
every since I started listening to arcade fire... my life changed. 6 years a fan #arcadefire

Here in my place and time
And here in my own skin I can finally begin
Let the century pass me by, standing under the night sky
Tomorrow means nothing
I was only a child then
Feeling barely alive when

Praying to a dying star, the memories fading
I can almost remember singing( La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la)

Compressed on a tiny screen
A dead star collapsing and we could see
Something was ending
Are you through pretending?
We saw the signs in the suburbs
You could have never predicted that it could see through you

Show's over so take a bow
And leave it in the shadows (La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la)
(Oh, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la)
Hey
Put the cellphone down for a while
In the night there is something wild
Can you hear it breathing?
And hey
Put the laptop down for a while
In the night there is something wild
I feel it, it's leaving me
This band changes life's perspective

Unforgettable music. Great video.
Awesome film. Awesome music video. I see you got that rolling dolly too. I can't ever make my shots while using it turn out as good as you did here though.
We used a car mount because the pavement was to rough for us too.

This is, like, the most official unofficial Arcade Fire music video ever.

Damn this is good. The video is good, nicely mixing with the lyrics. Consider this liked! :)
So glad Boyhood brought me here

Why is Arcade Fire just the best??
i was only a child then
feeling barely alive when
i heard from the speaker of the passing car
the memories fading
i can almost remember singing lala
Makes me want to take a cinematography course.
Wow great video, fits perfectly with the official suburbs videos.
Awesome. Only thing I would have added was some footage of police driving around in the same city to sort of carry on with the police state theme that is in their video for suburbs
Песня дающая энергию. Мёртвого поднимет.
this is reallllllllly cool
i love this song and all that it stands for. but im watching this on a smartphone while browsing Facebook on an imac.
the irony.
A fotografia dos clipes do arcade é ótima.
Acho que esse clipe foi feito por fãs. Mas, foi muito bem feito!
this is awesome
what a great song....the vid goes well with the music :D
Congratulations guys!!
amazing song!
this is great!!!
I hope Arcade Fire have seen this
Look pretty normal to me. Just because they aren't the beautiful people who are in most videos doesn't make them ugly.
BOYHOOD
Nice job.
Nice video!
it makes me remember skins..:)
Equis, suena bien.
Belíssimo clip.
this feels like the perspective of a dog
this is so fucking amazing!
What a film?
I like your video :D

Cuando tengan una banda fregona, si critiquen.
@OMFGSayThisNameIs Ha, Rococo was aimed at these kids
What kind of camera is it?
that beautiful ladie in the black past her mark bcuz she was blind lol 1:12
nice product placement apple...
Most of the shots were good, but you needed a better editor. Hot damn...
Boyhood.
This is the type of song Arcade Fire do best. The whole electronic side hasn't worked for me.
crystal castles vietnam?
To who then?
they were hipsters way before you even know the meaning of the world
*BOYHOOD*
@Oroyo122 haters gonna hate
I don't understand the video.

Naruto Opening 2 at 3:00
lenka cover is good too
Rococo and Month of May are both written to call out how much the hipster mentality of this generation sucks
+3 =2 -1.
not really.

Go back 8 years and buy me a camera dolly. Thanks!
Mostly mediocre with one or two scenes that are actually interesting. Nothing terrible though.
Que intento tan pésimo de: "Scenes in the Suburbs"
Cool song
