This scene traumatized me as a child and to this day I refuse to even go near a running tractor to this day. I attended a Christian school from ages 8-9 and for some reason they showed us this movie (we were all ages 12 and under btw) and this scene traumatized the lot of us.
Not even for a farm child, but parents shouldn't even allow their children ride double on smaller riding mowers because they could slip and get their feet cut off. There was a young farm boy I heard of in the news who fell of the back of his tractor and lost both his legs from the attached mower implement and in just a week or two was back to driving the tractor with his prosthetic legs like it was nothing. He had no fear of the thing that very nearly killed him and just shook it off.
The death of his nephew could have interrupted the relationship btn him n his brother, but thank God that the kids got the permission of their father to go with Angus, and Good enough they believe he has gone to be with the lord
When I first saw this I thought of how I never could keep the faith if this happened like it did in this movie. (Film is based on real events) and I would have turned my back on God and blamed him. There are actually two ways to look at this. The first way should be the logical way in that there were far too many people on the tractor together and it was a recipe for serious consequences. No children should ride on any kinds of tractors or mowers or anything like that. Even if the boy didn't get caught under the wheel, he could have still gotten really hurt or even killed from the fall alone. The second more conflicting way I see this is how God may have already had that child's day numbered, and even if this did not happen it would have been something else. and I associate this situation to Job in the bible who lost everything dear to him, not that God did it himself, but he allowed Satan to do it in order to test. In my viewpoint God acting passively in this way is the same as if he did it directly. like how the Jews couldn't kill Jesus directly no matter what he did, so they had to goad the Romans to do it. God knew and wanted the events to follow as planned so that Jesus's mission and sacrifice would be complete. BECAUSE HE GAVE JESUS AS THE SACRIFICIAL LAMB. so it's like God is neutral because he uses bad misfortunes to bring goodness and love into the world, only to later use this to test the good people if they are really still faithful to him. But yes in all respects, that tractor ride had disaster written all over it and you don't need God to tell you that.
This scene has traumatised me since I was a child
This scene broke my heart as a kid.
It scared me so much that I actually had a bit of a fear of going around vehicles with big wheels.
Literally!!
I think this I was traumatized as a child when I saw this.
Just gotta say, I use to be babysat by a VERY religious family and I remember watching this as a child there. It still haunts me years and years later
Yeah they played this movie in church when I was a child..

This is one of the dangers of being a farm child.

The most uncomfortable part was the kids mouth erupting like St Helena after the accident.
