She had a great wit. Some unkind man she was flirting with at a party told her he'd only sleep with her if she had a bag over her head. She replied "Chanel or Vuitton?"

That reminds me of reading something about Chruchill having dinner with some woman who was so unimpressed that she reportedly said "If I were your wife, I would poison your tea!" to which he replied, "If I were your husband, I would drink it!"
I just read Andre Leon Talley's books. He talks a lot about her and gives her credit for being the main person to help him in the early days of his career.
What a treasure! This video has got to be the most rare piece I’ve found on her

Mrs. Vreelands eyes are so expressive. I love her manner of speaking.
Long after her passing, Diana Vreeland remains a cultural influence that reaches far beyond the scope of fashion itself. She has been a personal heroine of mine since I was ten years of age and learned that she instructed her personal maid to polish even the soles of her shoes every day before she left her home. Marvelous. Ms. Vreeland was the very soul of soignée, and we slobs of today would do well to take a lesson from her scintillating example.

Much of what she said I could totally resonate with...it must have been a magical experience to observe her working in her creative world.

Oh, this interviewer is terrible. I'm sure she's lovely, but you have that icon available for question and you come up with THAT. Granted the legend of Diana has grown vastly since 1981...still, its amazing to see her in "action". I love how inclusive she was, she was the opposite of Anna Wintour, who seems to focus on excluding people, making them feel less than, so they spend money. Diana always wanted to invite EVERYONE to the party. And lets not forget Grace Mirabella, who brought Vogue back down to earth for the readers. She was a great woman too.

At least the audio is without the strobe-lighting effect. So, all one has to do is ...just listen. Wonderful. 1981. Clothes, Style and Fashion. I wonder how she would be thinking these days about American fashion. I had to think of the Marilyn Monroe dress being brutalised by Kim Kardashian upon hearing the interviewers question to Ms. Vreeland about the difference of the fashion object relying upon the person that is wearing it to make the difference.. Paradoxically,' Man maketh the clothes.' Somewhat reminiscent of Coco Chanel.

Yea our fashion or just more how "regular" people dress to be in public is gross honestly but days nights I'm no different.
This interviewer is exhausting.
She told Cher back in the mid 1960's "You have a beautiful pointy head" and put her to model for Vogue magazine.
