Mesmerizing, contemplative, soothing and absolutely amazing! One of my favorite all time pieces well played on a magnificent organ. Love all the heavy reeds. Very haunting when they come in with all that power. Obviously very difficult to play, but this performance is masterful! Thank you so much for this video!
Listened to this as the last piece in an organ concert in the cathedral of st Mary the virgin in Tallinn this week. Was performed by Kadri Ploompuu. Absolutely incredible.
Several other recordings of the organ version proved that they never watched the opera - they end fortissimo instead of tapering off gently. This guy has it down.
Wonderful performance. Thanks for sharing and congratulations to the organist. I wish I could have heard the higher notes a little more distinctly. I wonder if I would have had I been in the church at that time, or if the. mike had been placed in the center of the church instead of at the organ console. (I actually don't know where it was). In any case thanks.
A personal favourite beautifully performed but please use better microphones and microphone placements to fully capture the sound of the organ filling the church 🙏
I don’t know, hearing it this way seems to miss the delicacy and introspection, which paradoxically increases the import, given the ultimate consequences of Satyagraha. I thank Glass for writing an opera to mark a true advancement in human civilization, nonviolent social change.
I'm really surprised this site doesn't have more comments. everyone is missing out on the majesty and beauty.

I'm still wondering what makes this music so magic and appealing....
Chord progression and minimalism, sounding full and simple, clear at the same time
@@gonsonandenschinder no progression. its just an fmajor7 chord bro
Wow! I had never realised it involved double pedal! It would have been nice to see some feet action, well done for a excellent performance!
Sounds like improvised communion music. The Jackson Pollock of music.

Page turner is like, "Wait... I missed where it went from 3 time to 4 time..."
That bench needs to be re-stained
Ca doit être ennuyeux à jouer
