  • Even before becoming a Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg proved instrumental in breaking down a rigid framework of gender discrimination woven deep within American law. Cases dealing with money became a central tool in her arsenal fighting for women's rights.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg: A Supreme Court justice and pop culture icon.
There's even a new Hollywood movie about her early experiences fighting for women's rights. Less known, is that cases dealing with money became a central tool in her arsenal.

This video is about how RBG has championed financial equality between the sexes. Are critics saying they would rather see women be undervalued for the same contributions? You may not like her other politics, but this issues seems pretty clear cut to me.

💚🌷💜You have earned this rest, Dearest One, to be reunited with those who have gone before, to be pain free, to hold your man, play in the sunshine. You inspired generations of girls, of women who will ever hold you in their hearts. We are bereft yet will remain grateful for your grace under pressure, your strength, your determination, your pride in being a woman, your wisdom, your heroism.

Might I suggest that commentators here watch the FULL Video before commenting. RBG has been a beacon for Women's rights during her long and distinguished career. For commentators who say she shouldn't have wanted to change laws just interpret existing laws....well following that kind of thinking, slavery would never have been abolished. The number of laws that discriminated against women in every facet of their lives needed to radically change and women, especially, should be very thankful for RBG.

Why is it that men and women are not treated equally in sports; I was reading about the New York City marathon some weeks ago and noticed that the first person to cross the finish line was a man, 22 finishers later (all men) the 23rd person to across the line was a woman to my surprise I learned that they both got first place titles, first place money, first place trophies and equal position on the dais essentially they were treated equally although one vastly outperform the other -- only in a hypocritical world is this fair.
While she got $100,000 the 11 men that cross the finish line before her got nothing.
Why is it that when I'm at Walmart if somebody has a larger or heavy box that needs to be carried out they always ask for a male associate? sounds like gender discrimination to me

Truck Taxi to add on to this. When I was a kid and played multiple sports in high school all the money we generated from people coming to watch our games was used to fund the girls sports.... no one would watch their boring games hahahahaha! They had to cut a lot of guys sports teams just to be able to fund girls teams and they actually lose money compared to men’s teams. It’s hilarious! My favorite part about this equality thing is soon all the women’s sports team will be filled with transgender dudes! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Is that for real or what? Someone mentioned that in the comments... What else seems to be wrong with her actions or beliefs? Of course her ties to the clintons are disturbing... she recently appeared in public with the clintons in Arkansas apparently... this is what prompted me to look into who she is... but what else is reprehensible about her?

@Flying monkey Biases are a tricky thing. Arguably even a political alignment like liberal or yes, even conservative could be seen as a "bias." What exactly would the definition of a unbiased be? Is it even something that is possible? Arguably not. People are shaped by their experiences and learnings. Conservative judges are equally biased towards conservative ideals. At the end of the day maybe its good we have a liberal activist judge to balance out the conservative mindset and that's just objective fact. The U.S. protects all sorts of conflicting ideals equally (or at least as equally as can be), just another subset of the freedom we enjoy. I agree in a perfect world none of the Hon. Justices sitting on the S.C. would be biased. But we live in the real world.

@@ChenYisang888 But conservatives wants to conserve things and liberals always want change, a judge's job is to interpret the law as it is written, conservative judges want to conserve the law while liberal judges want to change it, didn't it just makes sense that you want a judge that conserve and interpret the law as it is rather than a liberal judge that always wants change? Let's make an example if eating meat is legal according to the law for now, and suddenly a liberal activist group wants to stop everybody from eating meat and they accuse you of animal cruelty because you eat their dead bodies, a conservative judge would say you are not guilty because he or she is following the existing law book and conserving it, while the liberal judge would say you are guilty based on his or her moral standard because he or she is a vegetarian, but only if you knew that eating meat will get you into jail you would never ate it at the first place, so this is the problem with liberal judges you never know when you broke a non existing law, because the liberal judge always change the law based on his or her own opinions. My problem with them is if you want to change things you go to the legislative branch not the judiciary branch of the government and if you are at the bench of the court don't change the law based on your own opinions, don't legislate from the bench.

When we elect someone into power, we must consider their roots. RBG rised up from woman discrimination and she spent her entire life fighting for women. For Biden, he came from a humble root, understands the sacrifices of US military families, and will honestly fight for all Americans.

From a source: Is Ginsberg dead? As close to death as a living human can get, with multiple infections, including deadly pneumonia, and in a coma. This is all being denied, though her immediate attendants and Chief Justice Roberts are aware. Technically, this falls in the realm of privacy, as just what medications a justice needs, or their particular diseases, is private. But until a death certificate or a resignation letter is issued, technically she is a member of the court. Her written instructions to her doctors and Roberts are to consider her alive until circumstances change.
Now what? Ginsberg’s return to health and participation are unlikely. Her absence will become obvious when votes are cast and decisions written. Eventually, the Senate, which can impeach in instances of incompetence, will call for an investigation and vote on the matter. Roberts may be forced, thus, to reveal the truth. In the meantime, the Democrats, such as Pelosi, are stalling the State of the Union which traditionally has the Supreme Court in attendance, though being ill, she could be excused for this.
On the eve of the State of the Union, claims that Ginsberg attended a concert in her honor, given by her daughter-in-law, sitting in the back of the darkened hall. No photos were allowed, though Washington Post claimed she was really there, as did a member of a DC law firm. Was it she, or a double? Washington Post stressed that she would likely not attend the SOTU, as she had skipped in the past.

No it isn't but privacy is. That's what the court ruled to allows a woman to decide to get an abortion without the government interfering. Sense making it illegal interferes with a woman's private decision.
