Thank you so much for this video! Really, thank you! I have a question and I need guidance. I have a bachelor's degree that I earned a while ago, back in 2014 in Canada, with a very very very low GPA (2.3) due to health issues, medication, and a physical disability. However, I earned a master's degree from Harvard (HES) with a GPA of 3.88. My goal is to apply to HBS (Harvard Business School) Ph.D. (I am aware that this video is about MBA but I still want to have your opinion regarding Ph.D.) My question for you is, which GPA will the admission officers consider the most? My undergraduate GPA or Master's GPA? Thank you very much! :)
Thanks for all the valuable advice. I see that you always talk about the GMAT, but what about candidates who've decided to take the GRE instead? More and more schools are accepting the GRE and view it no differently from the GMAT. Would getting a high GRE score, say more than 320 or 325, not help offset a low GPA (3.3 overall).
Yes more and more b-schools are accepting the GRE! However, the GMAT is still the de-facto standard business school admissions test. That said, the same rules apply for the GRE as for the GMAT: if the GMAT equivalent of your GRE is strong (say you score in the 90th percentile or above) - this will definitely offset a low GPA. You can use this tool to convert your score: www.ets.org/gre/institutions/about/mba/comparison_tool
I have recently graduated engineering and want to pursue MBA after 2-3 years.I got 2 jobs one at WIPRO technologies(Indian company) with job profile IT Programme Analyst, another at Cognizant (American company) as IT-Infrastructure engineer. Everyone is telling that programme analyst is a better designation, but Cognizant is a better company.I want to know experience at which one would be better for my college application to the American or Canadian colleges?
First, I think you should pick the job that excites you the most and offers you the most growth potential now. You may change your plans to apply for an MBA later on! That said, in terms of employability, schools are looking for career progression, a track record of performance/impact, and post-MBA career goals that are aligned with your past experiences. It's tough to tell which of those 2 jobs will offer you that from the titles. Check out this episode on how adcoms rate your career goals: th-cam.com/video/xlOEK8yZh3g/w-d-xo.html
Hi Sukanya, congratulations on your job offers. Honestly, it's more about the impact and experiences you have at work rather than your job title for the top American & Canadian business schools. We encourage Indian applicants - especially those entering the IT/software space, to try to get as much international and management experience as possible. Good luck!
my gpa would be 2.5 and i wanna go to harvard business school and im already 27...thinking of building a solid profile in 4 years and apply after than..i know they prefer ppl below 27-28 years old..will i stand a chance if i apply at 33?
2.5 GPA is low for HBS. Of course, they will look at your GMAT, work experience, career goals, recs and much much more, so it's tough to say if you stand a chance! that said, I'd look to apply earlier rather than later. Good luck!
Hi Steve, that's a big question! At Touch MBA we're focused on GRADUATE business school selection and admissions. If you want to get a head start there, check out our admissions course at: www.touchmba.com/course.
A low GPA would be one below the class average, which you can usually find on the MBA program's website. A very low GPA would be below the 80% GPA range; you can probably also assume the equivalent of a C average is low. Hope this helps!

What if the score is high on GMAT but low on GPA?

How much C grade effects in degree can plz tell me the solution of this problem but if cgpa is still 3.4
Do W's (withdrawals) on classes matter as much to B school as it does to Medical school?
Withdrawals on your transcript might raise eyebrows. They aren't a dealbreaker, but you should let adcoms know why you decided to do so.
@@TouchMBA Thank you for your input!
How would admittance view an applicant that has an online business?
They would look at the impact you've made, and how that has contributed to your future path and career goals. In short, just like every job!

I graduated with 59% is there any way to offset for Big 5's
Big 5 b-schools? If you're talking about business schools, our biggest leverage point would be to score excellently on your GMAT/GRE
