i love the way they dress you up, put a gun in your hand flip the switch and off you go. when the camera needs film turn you off. Noisy isn't he. He does make amazing shots, does'nt he, good cut in background music, name of song ? played rimshot to same song. At one time could play it on bugle.
This is the only trapdoor i dont own. I can imagine it has the same lines and feel as an 1866 except possible a little lighter due to no barrel sleeve?
i would say the general feel is the same but the door it is a completely different animal. very complex compared to the 66 which is why the 1866 is much better then the 65
I recently purchased a 1812 Eli Whitney musket that was converted to a the Ward conversion. with the internal cap hammer was removed and replaced with a 1842 Springfield hammer. It's in exceptional condition.
Very good video. I'm so impressed with your knowledge and research. I especially liked the brief history of Springfield Armoury. That'd be a great series on its own as well. Thank you, this kinda stuff gives me hope for the future. Love, creativity and smarts.
RIP Carl Gula from Black Powder Firearms Enthusiast. He had a great channel that demonstrated Black powder firearms.😢🙏 Black powder folks have to stick together to promote the enjoyment of shooting black powder firearms.
I didn't realize he died until I saw it on Facebook just a little while ago. We were pretty good friends on Facebook and chatted quite a bit on messenger. Video promoting the GoFundMe coming shortly
if it has the long nose recever it is probably a model 1868 even if it is marked 1870. i have a video on how to tell the difference. welcom to the hobby
i have fired, 55 Dragoon pistol, long barreled Spencer with target sights at Missouri Bottoms Benchrest Club, my grandfather was a member since the late 20's til '70 or so
You Fellers are just too much! My morning coffee, a Springfield, music from the movie Gettysburg, which I’ve watched a mess a times, and the 11bangbang boys! What could go better with my morning JO? Thanks Guys! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
This is going to be an awesome series I can already tell. I can’t wait for the model ‘66 because I do have one of those. Also, I’m wondering if you’re going to do one on the model 1881 20g TD? Fantastic video👍🏽👍🏽
Yes, we are definitely doing the 1881. We actually searched and searched for one and actually purchased 1 last year. It's one of the best stories in the series in my opinion
@@Real11BangBang oh that is great!! I also have one the barrel assembly is all original but the stock is from a cutdown stock and I left one barrel band on. It’s my favorite TD and favorite shotgun! I still use it for squirrel , grouse and rabbit hunting. I love it! Great work on the first video👍🏽
Ha…….i went back and watched the short panning across the trapdoors on the table and sure enough ,I missed it the first time, but there it was third one from the end the model 1881 ……👍🏽👍🏽
Awsome video series so far! It made me dig mine out to look at it and research more on it. Its a 1873 model stamped door plate with the SMP 1886 cartouch on the left side. It also has the proof stamp cartouch just below the trigger plate and on the barrel by the reciever. I have not looked up the serial number but Im guessing 1885-86 production due to finding another one within 75k serial range made in 1883. Its chambered in 45-70 so it was a later production and has two numbers stamped on the top curl over butt plate that are heavily worn but still barely visible and what looks like a lower case typed font L right above the numbers ( it could be a 1 also just with top worn smooth or when stamped it wasnt struck head on or flat if that makes sense). I cant wait till you get to my model to learn more!
never had a problem with the 1860 original 54/56? better gun all around, Bannerman bought them all they were so popular and cheap they sold Custers, guns to Bannerman and issued them ' 73 Springfield, it is said anybody was going to make any $ out of Springfield and the money was going to Springfield. A friend won a1879 45/70 Springfield. first i loaded rounds with BP and cast lead for a .45 Auto Rim, this is reloading 1956. 200 gr cast bullet for the 45 auto rim, my first centerfire, $35.00 from the Boston Postal Service auction about 200 1917, S&W, some Colts but WHO cares, N frames from S&W almost all unfired .45 acp for 3 round clips, 18 in funny clip holder, better to lay flat in pocket than a speed loader.
Even at 72 I learned something to day. Thank you!
Glad you liked it.
there is one important Springfields ever that was replicated, it is the '55 dragoon Pistol with stock attached, .58 caliber, maybe the first .58.
Let’s learn!
lol well its a learning experience for sure

My grandpa has a springfield trap door rifle [long verson] and it's a beauty to fire it can't use powerful ammo because it's an old guy
Damn good video y’all, got a trap door myself. Love it to death and so does everyone at the range.
thankyou

Everyone should get an X account. I follow alot of firearm accounts there. Great place to post videos.
I stay away from political accounts. I just follow firearm content.
