Just bought the mid 2015, 15”, Core i7 16GB RAM, 512SSD Retina Display. I run it with a 1TB Samsung T5 SSD and I have a 4TB external hard drive as back up. Love the ports and I actually prefer that it has a bit more weight. The only grievance I have is the keyboard, I actually find it a bit small coming from a HP but everyone else seems to love it. Overall would strongly recommend as well.
I just sold my MacBook 12" 2015 and bought this 13" 2015 model. I'm happier than ever :D (I don't know why, but I was so lucky to find one in a pristine condition. Except the battery that has 580 cycles in "Good" status condition, I couldn't find a single scratch on it). So glad I got rid of that single type-C port and having the possibility to connect an external monitor to do my job properly.
I also own this MBP Early 2015 and it did great. Unfortunately my screen died a week ago (backlight issue). Going to replace it with the new MBA 2020 i5, since I think the laptop was a bit overpowered for the Student and Office/Web Tasks I am doing. Looking forward to your comparison. Thanks for your reassuring statement in regards to the heat/throttling. As long as you don't push it too hard, its a great fit for a lot of users!
It will definitely be an interesting video to watch for sure! Be sure to check out my review of the 2020 MacBook air with the i5 and see what you think! And yes for sure, its still a great computers, just do not expect too much out of it!
May be better decision will be to buy MBP 2019, because the cooling system of new MBA 2020 is some kind of joke. Totally recommend to see some videos about it's cooling system
I have been using it (the entry version) for 5 years and I am still very satisfied with it. I like the keyboard very much. As I use the card reader and USB A very often, I am very happy with it. Battery life is still very acceptable about 8 hours for light usage like a little web browsing and mainly Excel worksheet. BTW, I have just upgraded it with a Samsung 970 Evo Plus Nvme M.2 SSD. The speed is amazing!
Hi CLement. Does it seem faster? I dont lack space because i save everything in external drives but sometimes i feel my macbook a bit slower. I have the 2015 early 128gb version. More ram is impossible because its soldered but the ssd is an option.
Thank you for the very useful advice with the Samsung 970 Evo Plus! I'm about to buy it as well for my Macbook but wantetd to know: Is the battery life and also the wake up behaviour the same as with the Apple SSD? Thanks in advance!
@@pedrocaceiro3936 This is also my point. Since the ram is soldered, i want to max it out ssd wise to the really max, especially when it comes to speed. Do you have any experiences with a new SSD?
@@Rabecco The battery life is a little bit shorter than the original SSD but after upgrading to Big Sur, I find it more or less the same as the original one. There is no wake up issue at all as Samsung has already updated the firmware in Evo Plus.
Good vid .. Where would you reccomended buying this model as they are secondhand .. refurnished dealer or secondhand market places > is the guarantee of the refurnished dealer worth the mark up of hundreds of pounds vs the stability of these models also which prices would be reccomended to pay in 2021 for this model ? Also would it make sense spending hundreds more buying the version with 16 gb as far as performance ?
Great video. I have a 2015 15" MBP which I love due to the ports. I primarily use it pitch side at football matches. It has great battery life in the summer but sucks when the temperature drops. I struggle to get 45mins out of a full charge using photo mechanic and Photoshop. It has a 512gb SSD but may well upgrade to a 1TB. I'm contemplating ditching my 2010 Mac Pro and just use the MBP with a dock.
@@user-fi6hg8vq6c Hi. I think it's the original battery but I know I'm not alone with the battery dumping on the 2015. My M1 16" battery has never died yet during a match. 🤞🏻
I was the proud owner of a mid-2014 16 inch Macbook Pro and it started shutting itself down frequently. So I bought a 2020 15" Macbook Pro thinking it was time to "upgrade". Wow, what a disappointment. First, the Apple logo doesn't even light up!!!! I had no idea that was by design. So I took my old one to the Apple Genius Bar and they found it had a bad heat sensor so I was looking at almost $600 to replace logic board. I decided to buy an upgraded 2015 Macbook pro 15 inch Quad i7 with 2TB storage and I'm so excited to get it! So disappointed in Apple for not keeping the backlit Apple logo; I know that sounds petty but that's my truth. And I never thought I'd say that about an Apple product.
i have the 2.9 g and 8g ram early 2015.. bought it in 2016 ... don't get me wrong i love it but it gets pretty hot now even after replacing the thermal paste... in addition i think it would really slow down and get hotter if i upgrade to big sur, currently running catalina although downloading and running macfan has helped... if i could pay to get a M1 chip installed i would do it...
@@Techkhamun last question what about 8gb of ram for doing 1080p and light 4k videos? i got a crazy deal on a 2017 macbook pro with every editing sofware included.
I still have my 2015 and love it! Okay problem I’m having lately is files being pushed into my iCloud when I’m not ready for that but that’s due to my poor file management ready to save my old files on an external Harddrive and sweep the memory and just keep it to hold the software I use.
Great video on this subject. It's funny but to this day it seems all the multi-core Intel processors ran above 95 degrees under load. The older Macbook pro's couldn't handle that heat above 2.4 ghz. Again, great insight and review.
This is still the best MacBook Pro ever made, if Apple just released a refreshed version of this MacBook Pro with thunderbolt 3 ports in place of the Thunderbolt 2 ports, thinner bezels and an updated Retina display, then it would be perfect.
My 2011 MacBook finally gave out I was debating if I should just buy a new one or wait a little bit to make the big purchase and go for a used 2015 for the time being..
I would go for the second option my friend, there will be some amazing Mac's in the future and the 2015 will be a huge upgrade right now, and then get the apple silicon Macs when they come out
I still use my 13 inch 2015 iMac with a i5 every day. Still works great. Use a 31 inch external monitor and magic keyboard and mouse. Also have the new iPad Pro for out and about. Keep most of my files on a Samsung T7.
I’m newbie to Mac planning to buy a 15” mid 2015 MBP with i7 2.2 ghz, 16 GB RAM, intel iris pro 1536 MB graphics card. Do you think I can use it for the next 4 years (not for gaming , maybe some music producing , entry level programming)?
I have the same 15 inch 2015 Macbook pro as you showed in your video. But my biggest problem with this Macbook pro is over heating & battery backup. In light usage like watching TH-cam on chrome with Xcode open in the background I get roughly around 3 hours of battery life..And every time when I watch a youtube video on chrome it temperature goes up to 90/95 degree. It just completed 365 battery cycles. And according to Apple's website they suggest to change battey after completing1000 cycles. But mine just completed 365 cycles. So I think there is no problem with battery health. So my question is are you facing the same problem?
I am not facing the same issues but batteries aren't made equally so you might find one fails before others, looks like you got the short straw my friend! Also macbooks always run hotter than normal laptops it's an apple thing lol
Still checking what macbook is for me. But until now i cant still decide what to get. Also the price of macbooks are so high in my country compared to others. I am still hoping to have one in the future because it is my dream device. Thank you for the review.

Hi please help me choose. My friend is trying to sell me his Macbook pro retina display 13inch 2015 model. It has no issues except to a very few dents. I think of buying it and use it for my college and Im about to go to college next year. Should I buy it or just buy other models? I am thinking of the 2017 Macbook pro.
Do it. The ports ( usb, sd card, etc.) and they keyboard make it well worth it. As well as how good it is today even after five years, it will be perfectly usable for years to come even. Also, it won’t be as expensive as the 2017 model. You could probably get a (used) 2015 MacBook all maxed out (16 gb ram, core i7, etc. ) for the price of a basic 2017 model. Keep all of that in mind!
Banana Bob i am thinking of using SSD (external) so i could just save any data or files there so i wont worry of anything that couls slow down the laptop.
Hi, quick suggestion :))) if you want to buy the 2015 13" Pro buy the maxed out one, I have the base configuration i5/8gb/128gb. Its not bad, good for light editing (1080p) and watching Netflix but nothing more... I bought it used 3 years ago... kinda regret not buying the higher spec at leas 16gb of ram.. my work flow is now kinda struggling...
I just got a 13,3" MacBook Pro with 3,1Ghz i7, 16GB and 512GB SSD in very nice shape with 433 batt cycli for €150 incl. shipping. Going to be my throw in the backpack vacation MacBook.

But now, I have to be extremely careful and I never close the lid when I’m at home. Did you face the stain issue ever ?

This is a brilliant video and so very timely as I'm contemplating the 2015 vs 2019 / 2020. Quick question for you if you have a moment... How important/ different is the processor, ram, and gb for a 2015? I.e., i have found a model of the 2.7ghz, i7, 8gb RAM, 512gb SSD for $850. I'm wondering if it makes sense to hold out for findingsomething that is the "souped" up version of the 2015 -- 31ghz, 16gb ram, 1 tb ssd? Do you think the differnce will be tremendously noticeable? (I'm an entrepreneur that works with many tabs / programs open, will be remote next year, will do some video editing, but more watching and providing commentary / filming and recording podcasts (which I'll get a separate camera and speaker for) TIA for your help and for creating such informative videos!

Well the 2020 model doesn't have the issues the 2016, 2017, 2018 or 2019 model. If you need a lot of power then go for the 2020 model, but if you are a fairly light user, then a 2015 will be fine

Love the ports and I actually prefer that it has a bit more weight. The only grievance I have is the keyboard, I actually find it a bit small coming from a HP but everyone else seems to love it. Overall would strongly recommend as well.
Great to hear Dylan!!
Yeh it's an awesome machine! I love it, I will always say it but I'm not getting rid of it until software updates stop lol
Bravo! How do you not have at least 1million subscribers. Great video man
What a great video. Very interesting to see how supposedly old machines, in many cases, still hold up well.
Glad you enjoyed it😊✌🏽
I also own this MBP Early 2015 and it did great.
Lesley Jakob definitely not. terrible keyboard
Cool☺️ Have you had any issues with staingate?
Really nice presentation of a subject that i am actively considering right now. My unibody 13” is jus about to fall out of support so time to upgrade…
Is this laptop still nice to use right now on 2021? I am planning to buy one this month and i need some opinions
Can it be used for music production ive been looking all over TH-cam for a laptop that can handle music production
Same I want to know!!
Planning to buy one of 2015. Is it really much of the difference between the 2014 model?
Is it safe to download iOS new updates if it can.
Has the battery been replaced yet?
@@user-fi6hg8vq6c Hi. I think it's the original battery but I know I'm not alone with the battery dumping on the 2015. My M1 16" battery has never died yet during a match. 🤞🏻
Hey, I’m an artist and am looking to upgrade to a affordable laptop to run the software FL studios, what’s your opinion on that?
You are really good at what you are doing! :) Keep up the good work .
Thank you so much!
And I never thought I'd say that about an Apple product.
great vid bro, very interesting info for me.. just picked one up and so far i am loving it.
Sweet!!
amazin content bro. needed to see this.
i have the 2.9 g and 8g ram early 2015.. bought it in 2016 ... don't get me wrong i love it but it gets pretty hot now even after replacing the thermal paste... in addition i think it would really slow down and get hotter if i upgrade to big sur, currently running catalina although downloading and running macfan has helped... if i could pay to get a M1 chip installed i would do it...
Would you pls suggest which SD card to buy to expand more space for Macbook Pro 2015 Mid?
Would you recommend this MacBook for editing on photoshop?
Photoshop on this 2015 macbook pro will run just fine. It’s still a great device, enjoy!
How bout premiere pro?
Would the I5 model be good enough for video editing?
Yeh it would be fine just be patient with the laptop and it'll be fine 😊
@@Techkhamun last question what about 8gb of ram for doing 1080p and light 4k videos? i got a crazy deal on a 2017 macbook pro with every editing sofware included.
I still have my 2015 and love it! Okay problem I’m having lately is files being pushed into my iCloud when I’m not ready for that but that’s due to my poor file management ready to save my old files on an external Harddrive and sweep the memory and just keep it to hold the software I use.
Is the 2015 one good for Final Cut Pro editing? With a Core i5? Love your videos btw you’re amazing
I'm looking into one of these, and the seller just told me they've used Final Cut Pro on it.
what price would you say is good value for a macbook pro 15 inch? 2015
is it good for music production
Great video on this subject. It's funny but to this day it seems all the multi-core Intel processors ran above 95 degrees under load. The older Macbook pro's couldn't handle that heat above 2.4 ghz. Again, great insight and review.
This is still the best MacBook Pro ever made, if Apple just released a refreshed version of this MacBook Pro with thunderbolt 3 ports in place of the Thunderbolt 2 ports, thinner bezels and an updated Retina display, then it would be perfect.
I’m from the U.S but I prefer to say “aluminum” the way you said it, it’s so much cooler!!
Haha love it 😂
Would you reccomend this for middle school?
Keep up the good work you’re subscriber count is about to skyrocket!
Nice review -well done! Have the same one but mid 2015
which graphic card would you go with on this model?
My 2011 MacBook finally gave out
I was debating if I should just buy a new one or wait a little bit to make the big purchase and go for a used 2015 for the time being..
I would go for the second option my friend, there will be some amazing Mac's in the future and the 2015 will be a huge upgrade right now, and then get the apple silicon Macs when they come out
Do you think this computer will do well with handling heavy logic pro x sessions? (16gb ram)
thanks
Don’t you have a soundcard?
how about 15 inch 16gb ram core i7 version? is still same performance?
I still use my 13 inch 2015 iMac with a i5 every day. Still works great. Use a 31 inch external monitor and magic keyboard and mouse. Also have the new iPad Pro for out and about. Keep most of my files on a Samsung T7.
I’m newbie to Mac planning to buy a 15” mid 2015 MBP with i7 2.2 ghz, 16 GB RAM, intel iris pro 1536 MB graphics card.
Do you think I can use it for the next 4 years (not for gaming , maybe some music producing , entry level programming)?
You may lose software support for new MacOS when you hit year 3/4 but it'll still run well, I think that would be a good laptop for your uses 😊✌🏽
Do you think it will receive the next major upcoming update?
Sir,, All graphic software of Adobe will run in it smoothly?? I wanna buy. Plz tell me!
Where can I buy new one ?
Could you help me?🥺
Still checking what macbook is for me. But until now i cant still decide what to get. Also the price of macbooks are so high in my country compared to others. I am still hoping to have one in the future because it is my dream device. Thank you for the review.
Aww bless! It's a great laptop and definitely worth saving for and getting one! My first Mac was used and it lasted me for years and I pushed that machine almost everyday and never let me down 😊
Techkhamun yes. I am planning to purchased one use Macbook when i have enough savings. Thank you for this kind of vids. It really helped. More power to your channel.
would i be able to play games on it from time to time? like sims 4 (with mods) or genshin impact (with low settings)? or would it be too much?
I sold my 2013 late MBP, it was amazing since 2013 and now I bought 2015 early :) I think the best Macbook Pro ever :)The older things are always the best! I'm happy! Thank you! Greetings from Hungary!
Should one go for macbook pro 2017 or this one??
@@amnahussain661 I have the same question!
I'm between burying a MBP 2015 or 2017....
Any opinions? @ techkhamun
Thank you pal!
Thanks for this video. I am thinking to get a Macbook Pro 2015 for music production.
Glad I could help!
Quick question. Is the Retina display on a early 2013 13" MacBook Pro the exact same one as used on the mid 2105 13" MacBook Pro?
Bhai macbook air 2015 early mil rha h 26k battery count 420 k sath
2021 me lena worth hoga ya nhi
I just got a 13,3" MacBook Pro with 3,1Ghz i7, 16GB and 512GB SSD in very nice shape with 433 batt cycli for €150 incl. shipping. Going to be my throw in the backpack vacation MacBook.
Thanks for giving such a top notched content
also I'm using 15inch Mid 2015
Since 2015 Dec and being a happy Apple fan boy also you earned a SUBSCRIBER From Sri Lanka
My Best wishes for d upcoming videos of urz 😊
I M still using 2013 15 inch mbp works just fine .. before people used to need tech to do work now people need tech to know what next tech to compare to
Where I can buy Macbook pro 15" 2015 mid retina new and how much I hope it's low now.
Nice video. I have the same laptop since 2016, it still works well except for the “Staingate issue”. I developed stains on the screen over time and then got the screen replaced for free once in 2018. But now, I have to be extremely careful and I never close the lid when I’m at home. Did you face the stain issue ever ?
No I never faced that issue! And thanks for the comment man! ✌🏽😊
There is a Listerine method that absolutely saved my 2015 pro screen, you can find it here on youtube!
Miguel Rodriguez i have seen that method. Does it really make the screen far more reflective or is it minor ?
Great video, looking to buy a refurbished 2013 model but considering a used 2015 as a possibility. How much is a reasonable price for a used 13" 2015 model with an i5, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD?
Happy seen this your sincere look and prowess on what you are talking about mac book pro early 2015, I have subscribe to your channel and share more here in Nigeria. Shalom.
Thank you very much for those kind words! 😊
No only do I have this MacBook which i just upgraded to 1TB ssd, but I just bought a shirt with the diamond design behind the MacOS Catalina box. Did you design that Techkhamun?
What do you know... I literally bought the same exact model and specs. Still waiting for it to get here I’m so exited
Sweet!! 😊
@WakinTheDeadFan yeah, that's pretty good. I just paid 870 for the MJLT2 with a base clock of 2.8Ghz and 1TB SSD.
Amazing content ..
so i think you could help me to select between macbook pro 2015 13 inch 2.7 core i5 or a new Lenovo l3 with an intel core i7 10th generation? Both are 8gb ram .. its will be my first mac .. so i cannot decide what to choose .. thanks you in advance
I would say go for a new Lenovo as you will get many more years out it
Can you run creative cloud on this laptop from mid 2015?
Great video mate, could you please do video on editing on final cut Pro?
Just purchased mine . Thanks
(I'm an entrepreneur that works with many tabs / programs open, will be remote next year, will do some video editing, but more watching and providing commentary / filming and recording podcasts (which I'll get a separate camera and speaker for)
TIA for your help and for creating such informative videos!
I don’t know which one you went for but you’d be better off going for a souped up version for what you need it for.
Nice Video...This MacBook Pro 2015 is Good For Music ?
would i be able to play games on it? like sims 4 (with mods) or genshin impact (with low settings)?
So if it has a i7 and 16gb of ram, should it handle 4k footage in final cut pro or primer pro better?
Premiere Pro not really, Adobe just isnt optimise great but final cut should work fine ✌🏽😊
@@Techkhamun thank you for the response I'm looking for a reasonable price MacBook that can handle editing 4K Drone footage. Not very familiar with Apple products I just hear that they're really easy to use
bought a 2015 macbook pro 15 inch2.5ghz quad core i7 16gb ram and 512gb ssd for $790. Good deal?
Good deal
What where
Do you recommend this laptop for programming? like Mobile application development?
It would probably do the job, just don't expect it to be the fastest thing!
Debating if I should get the 2015 MacBook Pro or the 2020 MacBook Pro. I also heard that sales for MacBook after 2015 weren’t doing so well because of the various changes they did.
Well the 2020 model doesn't have the issues the 2016, 2017, 2018 or 2019 model. If you need a lot of power then go for the 2020 model, but if you are a fairly light user, then a 2015 will be fine
does it good for coding?
