Kawhi played 60 games demar played 77. I say the raptors get the one seed in the weak east with those extra 17 games and demars last season with the raptors saw a 9.6 win share rate with kawhi having a 9.5 meaning he would’ve won just as many regular season games. This gives them the 1 seed which they were 2 games back of and you get a path to the finals that potentially either sees the 76ers choke under pressure as they also choke in a later round or potential elimination from another team.
As a Raps fan who’s gone back repeatedly to watch the 2019 run, I really appreciate being able to re-live this era of Raptors basketball. I’m just glad you recognize demar as the face of the franchise, because since that bkn vs tor series where Lowry shot that 1v5 shot was as awful as it gets. Demar definitely let us down, but Lowry couldn’t ever do anything by himself, kawahi saved lowerys legacy, since lowery left he’s been nothing but a bench warmer for the 76ixers
Bro mentions the Toronto Raptors with Vince Carter and Chris Bosh completely forgets that Tracy McGrady was absolutely phenomenal when he was with the Toronto Raptors he was just overshadowed by Vince Carter.
Watched raptors since day 1 of the franchise in the sky dome. Demar is nowhere near kawhi. I have never seen anything like kawhi ever. That 2019 run was insane by kawhi. Definition of carrying a team to the chip.
Man, this takes me back. Those early "We the north" Era toronto Raptor teams were fun because we knew they were making much noise, we were just happy they were winning lol
@ you spot on bro and you actually took it easy on him. You didn’t even go into the multiple benchings he received in the playoffs. My bro referred me to your video because we often talk about Demars time in Toronto. You’re the only one who’s covered it from this angle. Like I said great video. You got a sub
10000% people forget the bucks were INSANE that year and were tearing the league apart with a 60 - 22 record and they were favoured to win the chip that year. Kawhi locked giannis down. Also philly was stacked! Prime embid, tobias, butler and simmons when he was good. Kawhi's run was insane! Also the gasol trade for jonas was a very smart move. Gasol really made a huge difference too.
Alvini my man, I gotta disagree on the premise. I've always felt DeRozan was miscast as the #1 option on a team trying to make a deep run. I dunno, to me it's like criticizing a fish because he sucks at flying, if that makes any sense.
@@kevinwillette5161 You’re valid for sure. I wouldn’t have made the video if HE HIMSELF didn’t say that he was capable of that. It was a universally agreed upon statement that he couldn’t. But since he said he could, the idea of the video came to mind and I spoke on it. Consider this extra evidence to the claim 🫡
A good leader needs to make tough decisions and that's what Masai did. Did it hurt seeing DeRozan go? Of course! But trust me as a Toronto native and a Raptors fan, nobody was sad at the championship parade.
I love Demars confidence but I'm sorry, there was no way the Raptors would have won in 2019 with Demar leading the charge. They wouldn't have gotten past Philly, Let alone the Bucks after going down 0-2. Then for SOME REASON if they got to the finals, no wayyy would Demars mental have held up to stop the 3 peat from that battered Warriors team.
That was pretty selfish of Demar. It took a minor prime Kawhi, and a shit ton of luck to get Toronto to the finals, and even more luck to win it all. No way it would've played out the same way with Demsr. He's a good player though.
Correct me if im wrong but masai started as a scout for Toronto, became a GM for the denver nuggets, he did the carmelo trade before Toronto again sign masai to be the president and gm after his nuggets contract ended few seasons later
My favourite player of all time. He made me fall in love with basketball. He’s way mire clutch than Siakam. If Siakam takes the last shot, you know it’s gonna miss. I’m not sure Siakam has a single game winner in his career and I’ve watched him since he was a rookie. I’ve seen him miss a lot and I’ve seen DeRozan call game
Sure completely understandable. But obviously if he was able to compete with Lebron and not get swept two years in a row that trade wouldn’t have needed to happen. Because the risk behind losing Kawhi compared to the loyalty of Demar is certainly something to consider. But that’s just my opinion. Something needed to change either way.
Torontonian here. I believe it's possible we could've made the finals with DeMar. But he couldn't beat LeBron and LeBron lost to gsw a couple times and he probably couldn't handle them. And the east took a leap
Look man, i love DeMar. He’s the reason why I’m watching basketball he a legend of the city, probably of the country. But I can’t deny that he brought us down with him all those years against lebron. Shit hurts but it’s true. I still hope he gets a statue with Kyle. The one where the two of em are together after the buzzer beater, that’ll be the one for sure
The irony of Lebron being on the receiving end of such bamboozlery against Jokic and the Nuggets since 2021 Basketball gods write amusing scripts sometimes
Lmao Harsh, man. Wasn’t expecting a Derozan hate video. I get it, just don’t know that it’s fair. I’m a Derozan fan, but a player like that has to be lucky and on a good team. I see him as a better version of Rip Hamilton, he just hasn’t found his Pistons team yet (but the Kings might be that team for him!) Dude will be a hall of famer nonetheless. Really wanna see him get a ring tho.
I guess I can agree with that assessment. Many words like that (not gonna list them all) have lost their meaning because they are overused due to our current social climate. The wording in the title of the video definitely invites defense if you’re a Derozan fan though. I love your videos, style, and sarcasm, I’m just taking up for a player I like. I want a How the Wizards Are the Biggest Fuckup In NBA History video though. It probably should be a multiparter or at least 5 hours haha
Awesome video! As a long time Raps fan, i've had the experience of living for all those moments and how you captured and spoke the facts about Demar is exactly how I would express it. I was hoping the video would include the clip of Demar in an interview with him after the loss to Lebronto. I forgot the exact words, but it was expressing that he gave up on the team because they're playing against LeBron. And another thing about why Kawhi is such a better player is that he got Lebron scarred when he is on the floor. The Raps litterally traded for a player opposite of Demar to take on Lebron.
Why isn't the Raptors championship respected? Just because KD didn't play most of the finals? Even without KD, GSW was still considered the heavy favorites going into the finals. Plus the Raptors beat two fully healthy championship level teams in Milwaukee and Philly. Most people had the bucks and warriors as locks for the finals at the start of the playoffs with many favouring Milwaukee to win the chip. So it's ridiculous to me that people would not respect the Raptors run. It was one of the best of the last decade - no doubt.
Bro I love your videos, but for the love of me I can’t understand what it is that you say before the video starts, “relic” “rabbit” “ribbit” are you frogging me?
I think the Raptors make the Finals with DeRozan but they don't win a single game. Regardless, they don't win a championship. But they definitely do run through the East. People forget some of the important pieces in the playoffs (Gasol, Ibaka, Siakam, Vanvleet, Powell) etc
If Kawhi had to put up a all time performance throughout that second and third round just to sniff the finals I highly doubt Demar does the same. Those two are in completely different realms as players and there’s a reason Masai chose him specifically to get the job done.
@@Alvini_LinguineMasai made a smart choice to go with Kawhi over DeRozan. Finding the next series of Kawhi-type players is what the Raptors will now have to do although hitting on enough of those draft picks, trades and free-agent signings is another matter, with supposedly winning the last category last NBA-NHL offseason, among NHL teams, having instead backfired on a Nashville Preds’ team that finds itself near the bottom of the NHL standings.
@@Alvini_Linguine I agree both Kawhi and DeMar are in different levels. Kawhi is def better. I think the second round against Philly people forget how important Gasol was for Toronto holding Embiid to 37% shooting throughout the series. Yeah that’s fine lol. But atleast the Raptors can say they made the finals. Ain’t anyone beating that Warriors team without a little help 😂😭. I was rooting for the Raptors the entire time. That Superteam needed to fall
I can agree, but as the #1 in command most of the responsibility is on him. It’s not like the others sucked and he popped off. He just couldn’t get it done and they traded for someone who could.
Tbh people forget that Kyle Lowry was also fucking ass during most of the 2019 run. Like i remember fans cheering when he hit free throw. Also its actually insane how bad Demar Derozan is on defense. In short no a 20 ppg all star with no defense an no 3 point shot could not do the same as Kawhi

@@KalmoK also half this comment is just deflecting by bringing up how they impacted Toronto, that is completely irrelevant lmao.
He was a undervalued side piece at that point and wasn’t even on the raptors in 2001
Been waiting for this
Watched raptors since day 1 of the franchise in the sky dome.
Kawhi carried that philly series so hard. We all know defrozen wouldnt be able to do that
Great video. Hope Demar sees this
Would be a very interesting moment for me ngl. I'd stand 10 toes down on it though.
@ you spot on bro and you actually took it easy on him. You didn’t even go into the multiple benchings he received in the playoffs. My bro referred me to your video because we often talk about Demars time in Toronto. You’re the only one who’s covered it from this angle. Like I said great video. You got a sub
All this proves is that LeBron making it 10 straight finals isn’t that impressive. The leastern conference was so weak
Background instrumental always mint. Love dilla and kanye
Alvini for the win
I never understood why demar game never translated to the playoffs
The Kanye soundtracks make this video good bro keep it up 👍🏼👏🏼🫡
Gotta have my personality bleed through the video! Glad you like the music I enjoy!
@@Alvini_Linguine Kanye west fan here
Funny because as a raptors fan, there was truly no point where i ever felt we could win a ring with derozan lol
As a Raptors fan, ABSOLUTELY TF NOT we would have fucking lost to the Sixers or got swept by the Bucks if Demar was still there
10000% people forget the bucks were INSANE that year and were tearing the league apart with a 60 - 22 record and they were favoured to win the chip that year. Kawhi locked giannis down. Also philly was stacked! Prime embid, tobias, butler and simmons when he was good. Kawhi's run was insane! Also the gasol trade for jonas was a very smart move. Gasol really made a huge difference too.
@@KNOWtheLEDGE7 to this day Marc Gasol is one of my heroes
Nor the Bucks, Kawhi’s 1v1 defence was a huge part in slowing down Giannis.
OG was injured at the time.
A good leader needs to make tough decisions and that's what Masai did. Did it hurt seeing DeRozan go? Of course! But trust me as a Toronto native and a Raptors fan, nobody was sad at the championship parade.
good research and video! thx.
As a 30 year raptors fan I approve this video
I love Demars confidence but I'm sorry, there was no way the Raptors would have won in 2019 with Demar leading the charge. They wouldn't have gotten past Philly, Let alone the Bucks after going down 0-2. Then for SOME REASON if they got to the finals, no wayyy would Demars mental have held up to stop the 3 peat from that battered Warriors team.
“I think we just needed one more piece, and that piece came in the form of LeBron going to the west” Bwahhhh😂
Felt like i was listening to Kanye with some basketball commentary. Nice video
Love the Spaceship background music
The Scottie Beam playing in the background 🔥🔥
Shoutout the man Gibbs!

That was pretty selfish of Demar. It took a minor prime Kawhi, and a shit ton of luck to get Toronto to the finals, and even more luck to win it all. No way it would've played out the same way with Demsr. He's a good player though.
GOATTTEDDD CONTENNNTTT
Correct me if im wrong but masai started as a scout for Toronto, became a GM for the denver nuggets, he did the carmelo trade before Toronto again sign masai to be the president and gm after his nuggets contract ended few seasons later
Correct, I worded it horribly and didn't provide context.
He choked every time the 6ers would of beat them in 6 and if not the bucks definitely would of beat them in 5
44:44 - the Raptors were going into game 15 of the playoffs, and Cavs were going into game 9.
If the raptors and Demar made it to the finals in 2016 and 2019 Steph&Co would have 6 rings by now very probably 😭
That demare caroll picture was so random but funny 😭
For now on if he’s ever mentioned in a video of mine. I’m using that picture 😂
all over that noti
I hear the college dropout sample in the back…don’t make me report you…for being awesome
Gotta make my videos a experience and show my personality through it 🤙. Glad you fw it 😈
so who was going to guard giannas when they went up 2-0? Derozan??? lmaoooooo
My favourite player of all time. He made me fall in love with basketball. He’s way mire clutch than Siakam. If Siakam takes the last shot, you know it’s gonna miss. I’m not sure Siakam has a single game winner in his career and I’ve watched him since he was a rookie. I’ve seen him miss a lot and I’ve seen DeRozan call game
i personally would like a new orleans hornets timeline, since you did the pelicans already
Dewayne Casey wasn't the first coach to be fired immediately after winning Coach of the Year.
Check George Karl of the 2012-2013 Denver Nuggets
As a huge Demar fan, watching this video hurts
He didn’t really “choke his way out”. It’s that they were offended kawhi. They had no intention of getting rid of him before kawhi was in the equation
Kwahi was better defensively period demar wasn’t stopping Gianni’s
thats an OUTRAGEOUSLY freaky title
The amount of ads put in this video god damn...
Demar defrozen is the best way to put it
If the raptors did not trade demar to the spurs....... then demar will still be ringless 😂😂😂😂
Why cant I find his 2k channel anymore guys ??
27:00 I miss that wizards team
Torontonian here. I believe it's possible we could've made the finals with DeMar. But he couldn't beat LeBron and LeBron lost to gsw a couple times and he probably couldn't handle them. And the east took a leap
1 min ago is crazy
Look man, i love DeMar. He’s the reason why I’m watching basketball he a legend of the city, probably of the country. But I can’t deny that he brought us down with him all those years against lebron. Shit hurts but it’s true. I still hope he gets a statue with Kyle. The one where the two of em are together after the buzzer beater, that’ll be the one for sure
The irony of Lebron being on the receiving end of such bamboozlery against Jokic and the Nuggets since 2021
Basketball gods write amusing scripts sometimes
Let’s not act like Lowry wasn’t a known choker as well atleast till the 19 Finals
The word hate has lost its meaning. This is just criticism of his claim/defense that he said.
1:14:50 - 2028!?! You don’t say!
He can see into the future
Cooked me, idk how I said “2028” 💀
4:50 wrong! he came back here after being the GM for the Nuggets
Not a debo fan but what else he suppose to say
Bro I love your videos, but for the love of me I can’t understand what it is that you say before the video starts, “relic” “rabbit” “ribbit” are you frogging me?
I say "ROLL IT" then of course the movie reel thing starts. I can understand if you didn't understand what I said lol.
@ ohhhhhhh, that makes so much sense. I feel stupid now 😂
I think the Raptors make the Finals with DeRozan but they don't win a single game.
I think due to Lowry/DeMar chemistry and Siakam they'll get through Philly. The ECF against Milwaukee I feel like the bucks beat themselves.
Let’s be honest if the warriors don’t get hurt Kahwi don’t win the ship
Yeah that’s fine lol. But atleast the Raptors can say they made the finals. Ain’t anyone beating that Warriors team without a little help 😂😭. I was rooting for the Raptors the entire time. That Superteam needed to fall
omg the KD/Steph Warriors win healthy thank you captain obvious
i dont think it was all his fault but he definently underperformed almost every year he was on the team
I can agree, but as the #1 in command most of the responsibility is on him. It’s not like the others sucked and he popped off. He just couldn’t get it done and they traded for someone who could.
He did get so many chances to win though. I just think his long 2 heavy shooting and playstyle doesnt fit modern NBA.
got the scottie beam track in the back, we major
Shoutout Gibbs, new album was great!
the raptors won 50 in 2020 with kawhi gone, imagine if they had demar
They still wouldn’t won Jack
Tbh people forget that Kyle Lowry was also fucking ass during most of the 2019 run. Like i remember fans cheering when he hit free throw. Also its actually insane how bad Demar Derozan is on defense. In short no a 20 ppg all star with no defense an no 3 point shot could not do the same as Kawhi
Wasn't this guy the runner up for clutch player of the year? Pretty sure the only person considered more clutch than him last year was Steph..🤔
