Along with the series Baoh the Visitor which seems to have inspired the Guyver with the arm blades that can cut anything, evil scientific corporation trying to take over the world and a high schooler bonded to an alien parasite as the main protagonist. However, Guyver is better. Edit: Another underrated series that I know is Gravity Rush. Yes, Gravity Rush 1 and 2 are on PS4 and yes, they have Figmas of the main heroine but it is just as underrated as Guyver.
The problem is that the author writes super slow and the anime was catching up to the manga so they couldn't product more episodes. The story on manga still goes after the episodes.

Yeah they did the same thing with the TV series in 2005.. I watched it every weekend until they cancelled it right when it got so good! But the rest of that story only continued on in the Manga. (and I've done videos on those too btw). As cool as Guyver is. it seems the fanbased and demand for it is not high enough in this era.. I think it's going to be left in the past.. Sad..
I also think that the Guyver franchise deserves more love. It's got an interesting (if a bit confusing) world and lore, tackles the question of "where do we come from", and of course as a pretty badass hero and really cool and creative monsters. Just...What's not to like about it?
They did, sort of. There have been three Anime based on the Guyver Manga. Guyver: Out of Control, an OVA movie that was released in 1986. The Guyver: Bio-Booster Armor, a 12-episode OVA series that was released in 1989. And last Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor, a 26-episode anime series that was released in 2005. Out of Control is unique in it is the only one where Guyver Two is under the control of a woman.

I remember the silver dude having the piece on his forehead ripped out and 'dying', then some weird animal guy swallowing something, yelling 'it's growing!' then this silver guy bursting out of his chest saying to the girl 'I came back for you'. Good grief it's been years, thanks for connecting the dots in an old memory! Nice to know even back then Japan found a way to leave me with one *weird* memory! You probably say the First Guyver movie or the Anime. But the Scene you just described definitely came from the First American Adaptation of the Guyver series.

Unless they changed that in later issues, Guyver Unit was 'not' created after the Zoanoids, but predated them. It was part of the original equipment of the Advent starships, and all of them were equipped with Guyver Units. The Advent were believed to use Guyver Units as basic equipment, to allow them to control their ships and other technology.
Which was also explained in the movie, dark hero and the one before, it was not meant for the human race, chronos wanted the guyver to be able to stand against its original creators. Probably they've changed the story, i don't know why or if they did.

Thank you for doing this, man I miss this franchise so much. I can't help but think of what could've been. In my opinion on of the most underrated manga/anime series.
It's one of my favorite shows both in live action and anime forms (i've not read the manga). The design elements for the suit alone is quite well executed as are the sometimes silly enemy monster designs. My first reaction to the live action movies was holy poop, this ain't no power rangers.
The first movie was kinda.. meh.. but the second movie was a bit better. 🤗 The Manga however, goes extremely far into the story that was never expanded upon in the movies, animated films or tv series. The 2005 tv show only went up to the introduction of Guyver Gigantic then it stopped. 😖
AcidGlow this was my big complaint of the 2005 remake the ridiculously abrupt shift and then end of the show after it had been fairly okay before that. The way it ended was absolutely unacceptable.

Guyver 2005 wasn't that gory for me compared to the 1990 OVA. I think the issue with the 2005 version ending with the introduction to the Gigantic Guyver was probably because the manga has been on hiatus for a long, long time. Even right now, the manga is still considered ongoing despite the author being on break for a few years.
A Guyver would most likely struggle with a Xenomorph. Throughout the series it has been shown several times that acid is the best weapon against its regenerative abilities. Enzyme's corrosive blood is also what ended up finishing off Guyver I. So melee wouldn't be an option fighting a Xenomorph.
Lord Pokeumen The Enzyme's zoanoid's blood was specifically designed to counter the Guyver. No guarantees that any other form of acid would be effective (or as effective)....including the Xeno's blood.
This Franchise needs to be given another chance. I love the Mangas, Amines, and Movies. Granted the 1st one with Mark Hamhill was corny as fuck. Lol But the 2nd one was lighters of an improvement, and had great potential.

After humans proved to be a successful variable weapon platform they then went ahead with the experiment of merging a human and one of these suits resulting in the disaster. 'Guyver' is supposed to refer to the result of a human wearing the suit.
I’m pretty sure the guyver units were already developed when the creators came to earth. As it was a standard issue item to them. Guyver zero came about when the creators were curious as to what would happen if one of their new weapons was equipped with their standard issue suit.
In defense of Dark Hero , better action , better villains, and had Solid Snake as the Guyver. Not a masterpiece but a vast improvement over the mess that was the first movie
Wolf10media Too true. Plus the major difference in the movies to the anime was the power displacement between the gyver and the zoids. In the anime, it shows the gyver killing dozens of zoids by itself. In the movie, two zoids were a tough fight for the gyver alone, which made me appreciate his victories even more than the cartoon.

i watched Guyver: dark hero when i was like 4-5. like a year later my dad found The first film which over here is called "Mutronics". Then many years later i found the anime/manga etc. Wasn't until i went to college that someone saw a drawing of the guyver i did and was like oh wow someone else knows the Guyver. Instant friend right there lol was first person i also met that knew what the guyver was and it took me like 14 years to find one XD.
I loved the Guyver anime. One thing is though in both versions of the anime I would swear they said that the Advents used the armor themselves and simply out of curiosity tried to see what would happen if a human was bonded to a unit.
Just an FYI for all new coming fans. The Guyver manga appears to have come to a complete stop. The creator was working with someone who was a major help to the story, this partner passed away. Rumors say the creator of the manga returned to a family run business. It's been 3 years since the last chapter at this time (2019). I hope one day the story will continue and finish.
Loved the live action movies, watched the anime too, but that was some time ago and i barely remember it. To go along with "The Guyver-verse", you should cover the female guyver
I will have 1 more Guyver video tomorrow. If the views surpass my expectations, then I will continue with more Guyver stuff. If the views are too low, I'll forget about it and move on as I always do. Some topics are hit or miss. 🙂

Guyber Darkhero....I remember watching that at the Shrine Auditorium during one of the monthly comic book conventions. They had part 1 and we had to wait for part 2 to be delivered a few hours after.
Right? Screw modernization in movies.....i wanna see another live action guyver, with the same cheesy but awesome look/feel. Who cares if its rubber suits etc, those old movies were awesome
In the right hands, it could be one that would kick start some kind of anime renaissance in live action. In terms of origins, it's nothing no one has really seen before. If it was marketed as an adult superhero film then it could probably do well just off the mature fan base of that area. They could basically retell the story in the first two episodes of the 90s anime, having Guyver 2 as the main villain with a teaser of Guyver 3 at the end if they plan on a potential sequel. The market and quality of filmmaking is much better than when the first two films were made, it just needs someone to be brave enough to try it.
Old video.... but.... this is where Netflix steps in and gives Guyver the credit and recognition it deserves bring in new fans and please the old school... Guyver is the reason i got into Anime/Manga and iam not the only one 🤟
Awesome. I have been a huge fan of the guyver since i became a dbz fan if not longer and it was cool to learn some new things about the guyver that i didnt even know about. I thought they were like police to control the zoan not knowing they are a failed experiment that couldnt be controlled by the creators or the zoan lords. The term uncontrolled sorta didnt make sense until i learned this. Also the metals on the top of the head i didnt know the function for. No wonder the creators ran away in terrorr from there own creation. The list of powers they had were awesome. And the fear of a loan lord gaining guyver powers is certainly very real.
If another Guyver movie is ever made. I don't want it to be an organ story. Spider-Man was really bad for this. Just have a stand alone story as fans of the story are already aware of how things began. And don't try to target non fans like what they've tried with Ghostbusters 2016.
Well, considering it has been a long while since the last adaption, I honestly do not think a origin story would hurt. Also, it's not a bad thing to apply to a wider audience than just the original fans. If anything, what shouldn't be done, is to change it only to appeal it to the people that aren't the main audience. Just keep the core themes of the series, adapted to times of course, but without changing too much of what made it appealing (which is the most important part that many directors seems to miss when making an adaption).
I think in this guyver's case an origin story is necessary. If you want a movie oriented towards the small population who even know about guyver then budget will be very limited or not worth the risk. I think a guyver movie right now would be a hit and a refreshment fron all the same old super hero movies.
the only thing that bothers me is they have never finished the stories. they get to a point like there could be more then they stop. they need someone to finish the story.
the sad thing is, what would be the end? the corporation gets destroyed, or the planet gets destroyed. i feel it was canned because it doesn't have an end, much like most manga

The overall suit was better in the second film but the pure quality of the first suit was sick as hell If this got a Dredd style remake today (decent budget but awesome tone and use of money) it would be so sick But it would have to be mainly stuntmen in the suit with that power rangers chreography so it stays as awesome as Dark Hero. Keep it R-rated
i got into guyver when i was five so now being in the fandom for more than 25 years i've always wondered if the advents actually created the guyver or if perhaps it is just some organism they found and modified with the control medal giving it some level of sentience
This is my favorite show I have the complete series on VHS back in the day then I know FUNimation re-released it is sort of like the first season. I was hoping they would do the second season they kind of left it on a cliffhanger

The units weren't created for humans, they were used by the advents/uranus as it was speculated they were composed of different species. That's why whenever they're shown in flashback they appear to be glowing circles, the control metals were active. While worn these control units optimized their bodies for any encountered environment. The original Guyver, Guyver-0, was an experiment to see what would happen if a unit was bonded to an un-optimized human.
All good well done except u stated that the creators made the units on earth after creating humans this Is false as the creators themselves used the armour to pilot the ship's etc they just had the idea of testing the unit on a human and then the rest is as u said lol
Yeah, how can someone who knows anything about Guyver get that wrong? The Guyver units were basically just spacesuits. Allowing the creators to survive in any environment, the wiki even states this as the first thing.
I remember writing a short story of three guyver units fighting the xenomorphs and only one guyver survived. And after seeing the Predators film. I felt that thr Guyver fight against them as well.
The mistake they made was making live action movies about this before its time. Today however, a bad ass movie could be made or even a series... I hope they do remake this someday because I loved the anime and it was not enough. They just stopped at the best part....
guyver unit is basically the prison guard that later used as way to control and subdue rebellious zoalord, while zoalord is used as control node to all zoanoid..the alien that create zoalord is famous in galaxy as weapon dealer that produce zoanoid as mercenary and combat unit..they come to earth to experimenting and as mean of controlling all zoanoid they produce the zoalord and arkanfel is the first zoalord.
nice video. 1 thing did get me thinking though, You said they created the guyver unit after zoanoids. I thought the guyver unit was basically a space suit for the Uranus? because they were a collection of aliens from different species/shape/size ect. the Unit was able to adapt to their bodies and act like a suit like a space suit. They were curious as you said what would happen if they put this unit that is designed to adapt and increase the capabilities of the indivual were to be worn by a creature that has been designed for war as a weapon. I may be overthinking this but i believe the guyver unit was made before they even arrived on earth. Another thing that supports this is the ships are controlled via these units since they also have a control medal.

Steve Wang wanted to make a Guyver reboot with the current technologies, but no one in Hollywood wanted to fund it so the project died.

I first saw the live action movie, and tried to tell other people about it cause I thought it was so amazing. But they were like, the Guyver? You mean McGuyver? Smh.

i watched Guyver: dark hero when i was like 4-5. like a year later my dad found The first film which over here is called "Mutronics". Then many years later i found the anime/manga etc.
Wasn't until i went to college that someone saw a drawing of the guyver i did and was like oh wow someone else knows the Guyver. Instant friend right there lol was first person i also met that knew what the guyver was and it took me like 14 years to find one XD.

I loved the Guyver anime. One thing is though in both versions of the anime I would swear they said that the Advents used the armor themselves and simply out of curiosity tried to see what would happen if a human was bonded to a unit.
Since mid 1990's i am a big Guyver fan. Excellent story, character designs, etc.......

The Guyver manga appears to have come to a complete stop. The creator was working with someone who was a major help to the story, this partner passed away. Rumors say the creator of the manga returned to a family run business. It's been 3 years since the last chapter at this time (2019).
I hope one day the story will continue and finish.

Loved the live action movies, watched the anime too, but that was some time ago and i barely remember it. To go along with "The Guyver-verse", you should cover the female guyver
I will have 1 more Guyver video tomorrow. If the views surpass my expectations, then I will continue with more Guyver stuff. If the views are too low, I'll forget about it and move on as I always do. Some topics are hit or miss. 🙂

Guyber Darkhero....I remember watching that at the Shrine Auditorium during one of the monthly comic book conventions. They had part 1 and we had to wait for part 2 to be delivered a few hours after.

In the right hands, it could be one that would kick start some kind of anime renaissance in live action. In terms of origins, it's nothing no one has really seen before. If it was marketed as an adult superhero film then it could probably do well just off the mature fan base of that area. They could basically retell the story in the first two episodes of the 90s anime, having Guyver 2 as the main villain with a teaser of Guyver 3 at the end if they plan on a potential sequel. The market and quality of filmmaking is much better than when the first two films were made, it just needs someone to be brave enough to try it.

Awesome. I have been a huge fan of the guyver since i became a dbz fan if not longer and it was cool to learn some new things about the guyver that i didnt even know about. I thought they were like police to control the zoan not knowing they are a failed experiment that couldnt be controlled by the creators or the zoan lords. The term uncontrolled sorta didnt make sense until i learned this. Also the metals on the top of the head i didnt know the function for. No wonder the creators ran away in terrorr from there own creation. The list of powers they had were awesome. And the fear of a loan lord gaining guyver powers is certainly very real.

If another Guyver movie is ever made. I don't want it to be an organ story. Spider-Man was really bad for this. Just have a stand alone story as fans of the story are already aware of how things began. And don't try to target non fans like what they've tried with Ghostbusters 2016.

phoenixfirex ya, that's what meant. Don't know I overlooked that once since I I believe I've made other corrections on there.
Well, considering it has been a long while since the last adaption, I honestly do not think a origin story would hurt. Also, it's not a bad thing to apply to a wider audience than just the original fans. If anything, what shouldn't be done, is to change it only to appeal it to the people that aren't the main audience. Just keep the core themes of the series, adapted to times of course, but without changing too much of what made it appealing (which is the most important part that many directors seems to miss when making an adaption).
I think in this guyver's case an origin story is necessary. If you want a movie oriented towards the small population who even know about guyver then budget will be very limited or not worth the risk. I think a guyver movie right now would be a hit and a refreshment fron all the same old super hero movies.

the only thing that bothers me is they have never finished the stories. they get to a point like there could be more then they stop. they need someone to finish the story.

There's actually about 32ish volumes of the manga but only the first 6? Or so were actually translated into English.

The overall suit was better in the second film but the pure quality of the first suit was sick as hell
If this got a Dredd style remake today (decent budget but awesome tone and use of money) it would be so sick
But it would have to be mainly stuntmen in the suit with that power rangers chreography so it stays as awesome as Dark Hero. Keep it R-rated

i got into guyver when i was five so now being in the fandom for more than 25 years i've always wondered if the advents actually created the guyver or if perhaps it is just some organism they found and modified with the control medal giving it some level of sentience
This is my favorite show I have the complete series on VHS back in the day then I know FUNimation re-released it is sort of like the first season. I was hoping they would do the second season they kind of left it on a cliffhanger

The units weren't created for humans, they were used by the advents/uranus as it was speculated they were composed of different species. That's why whenever they're shown in flashback they appear to be glowing circles, the control metals were active. While worn these control units optimized their bodies for any encountered environment. The original Guyver, Guyver-0, was an experiment to see what would happen if a unit was bonded to an un-optimized human.

All good well done except u stated that the creators made the units on earth after creating humans this Is false as the creators themselves used the armour to pilot the ship's etc they just had the idea of testing the unit on a human and then the rest is as u said lol
Yeah, how can someone who knows anything about Guyver get that wrong? The Guyver units were basically just spacesuits. Allowing the creators to survive in any environment, the wiki even states this as the first thing.

I remember writing a short story of three guyver units fighting the xenomorphs and only one guyver survived. And after seeing the Predators film. I felt that thr Guyver fight against them as well.
The mistake they made was making live action movies about this before its time. Today however, a bad ass movie could be made or even a series... I hope they do remake this someday because I loved the anime and it was not enough. They just stopped at the best part....

guyver unit is basically the prison guard that later used as way to control and subdue rebellious zoalord, while zoalord is used as control node to all zoanoid..the alien that create zoalord is famous in galaxy as weapon dealer that produce zoanoid as mercenary and combat unit..they come to earth to experimenting and as mean of controlling all zoanoid they produce the zoalord and arkanfel is the first zoalord.

nice video. 1 thing did get me thinking though, You said they created the guyver unit after zoanoids. I thought the guyver unit was basically a space suit for the Uranus? because they were a collection of aliens from different species/shape/size ect. the Unit was able to adapt to their bodies and act like a suit like a space suit.
They were curious as you said what would happen if they put this unit that is designed to adapt and increase the capabilities of the indivual were to be worn by a creature that has been designed for war as a weapon. I may be overthinking this but i believe the guyver unit was made before they even arrived on earth. Another thing that supports this is the ships are controlled via these units since they also have a control medal.
