I look at lil man and I want to give him what he actually deserves, and it fucks with me hard. And you guys got me over here crying. If my son can feel like that some day, I will be so proud. I stay feeling guilty bc he is the world, and he deserves so much I can't give him. You guys that love and respect youe moms like that, and have an appreciation for how fucking hard this shit is-you the real men. And there aren't enough of you!

My mother passed away when I was 24. I was renting a hole in the wall and constantly went from cheque to cheque to cheque and even lived in the back of my car. Many years later Im now a major junior hockey scout (one of the first African Canadian souts) that gets to travel (pre covid) and make a good living watching the NHL stars of tomorrow. I'm very grateful to have 5 healthy kids, our families wealth and as of next year ill be an expected grandpa(became one on February 10th 2021). @@RapFanatic4ever exactly what I thought but this person kept telling me it was on vol 3 and how vol 3 wasn't that good. That album is fire. Vol 3 had Big Pimpin, Do it again, Is that ur chick, which was also on bleeks album, come and get me , so ghetto, the track with Juvenile snoopy song, S. CARTER, the Maria joint, and many more. I liked ot over vol 2. That was the debate. Both were fire . Vol 2 had knock life, Can I get a, Jigga what jigga who, and many more. All his albums were fire imo even Kingdome come which was probably his worse album. Just my opinion. I don't remember Magna Carter so I might be wtong.
Still gets me in my feelings. I didn't have kids when this came out, but this song made me want to do better for when they would come. I have them now, and I'm a good dad, but I don't have the money I thought I'd have. I'm still trying though.
Don’t get caught up in that… Go hard and control what you can. No amount of money could buy the love and direction we give. Jus talk to them. From one struggling pop to another. Stand strong Pops
Everything he said was valid points. Now let me make the case for hov. Every single album he dropped went platinum. Think about a part of yo life from 1996 till 2011 that jayz ain’t have a song out that was apart of yo life. Jay-Z holds the record for the most number-one albums (14) of any solo artist on the chart. 1996-1997 Was earlier. With 2pac and Biggie still alive! Then dying. NOBODY IN THE RAP WORLD OUT SHINING THEM! That’s like when Kobe came in and Mike was still playin. Cut it out. Album still went on to go platinum. He was still coming heavy with street sound. NOW! Out of all them artist you just name. Did any one of them come out independently owning they own record label off the RIP!? FUCK NO!!! See the shit jay did was WAYYYY bigger then just rap. HE LITERALLY GAVE THE WORLD THE BLUEPRINT FOR THE RAP SHIT! No p diddy. No death row. He own label. PAC die. Biggie die. The game need a saver. Here we go! Name a time Jay wasn’t present in our life after that. 1998-Hard knock life. And Can I get A. 1999-Big pimpin. Anything. Do it again. Things you do. 2001- song cry. Izzo. Girls girls girls. The rulers back. Take over. Renegade. Heart of the city. In 2018, the album was selected by the library of Congress for preservation in the United States National recording registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant," becoming the first entry created in the 21st century! 2002- Bonnie and Clyde. Excuse me miss. 2003-dirt of yo shoulder. Encore. 99 problems. Moment of clarity. Public service announcement. Retired. 2006- show me what you got 2007-hello Brooklyn 2009- DOA. Run this town. Empire State of mind. (Top 100 song of all time) 2010/2011-niggas in Paris. Otis. Ham. I can keep going. But I’ma stop there cause that’s where he stop. But stop the bullshit. Name a time bro wasn’t the biggest of the hottest. He showed us how to become a billionaire as a rapper. The first to do it. It’s bigger than rap with him. Put some respect on that nigga name.
The kids will never know about the melodies, hooks, and poetry that made hip hop in the 90's to 2000's. I see it for myself. It's all tattoos, strippers, and big asses. What appeals to the eye, doesn't always appeal to the mind. Most of these rappers today are forgotten after a couple years. Tell a story. Be a story teller and you will be remembered forever.
We always had good rappers around, but ppl don’t support em, they aren’t mainstream, check ODDISEE - You grew up, you’ll understand what I’m saying. The most part of the kids are into the mainstream, it’s the sad part... Years ago ppl had to find for the good music, now the social media and internet shows the music and ppl don’t even try in the most part of the time to try a non mainstream guy.
"Thanks for holding down the house when times was bad as a man I apologize for my dad when the the rent was due you would hustle like a pimp would do that wasnt a life meant for you. “Just remember to turn the lights off in the hall My brother from another pop” That line feels like I’m 6 again living with my grandma. It feels so comforting def reminds me of the childhood thanks Z
I never really payed much attention to JAY-Z so now I’m discovering a lot of his albums for this first time, so all his old stuff is brand new to me and I’m loving it!!
For those of you not from New York lemme give you quick breakdown. Ok this video is shot in Marcy Projects where jay-z was born and raised. Marcy Projects is part of NYCHA which stands for New York City Housing Authority. there are over 300 " housing projects" like this one with a total of about 2000+ buildings scattered all across NYC. Most people raised in the projects to tend stay there forever because of the low low rent and free utilities. The downside is the high crime rate and piss poor maintenance of building. The worse projects are in Brooklyn and the Bronx. The nicer ones are in queens and certain parts of Manhattan.
I have concrete evidence. Here is complete full crime statistics of EVERY SINGLE HOUSING PROJECT in the city. its updated weekly. brooklyn has most crime, followed by the bronx. www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/downloads/pdf/crime_statistics/hb_eagle_report.pdf This year to date NYPD reports Marcy Projects had 1 Murder, 1 Rape, 6 Robberies, 21 Felony Assaults, 2 Burglaries, 7 Grand larceny, and 2 shootings. Queensbridge had 1 Murder, 2 rapes, 10 Robberies, 25 Felony Assaults, 12 Grand Larceny, 2 Shootings

This track is so slept on . I remember this being the bonus track on Beanie Siegel's album The Truth . One of Jay's best
,Who tf listening Jay Z in 2022? All school ganstas on Gomunkul 6 now
Was it on vol 3 as well????
@@barbarapaparella1833 nope just a Bonus track on Beanie Seigel The Truth album
@@barbarapaparella1833this was on vol 3. Then had jigga my nigga as a hidden track
Still gets me in my feelings. I didn't have kids when this came out, but this song made me want to do better for when they would come. I have them now, and I'm a good dad, but I don't have the money I thought I'd have. I'm still trying though.
but you there as dad and that's important
Don’t get caught up in that…

Facts
Thanks for the days you kept me breathing
When my asthma was bad and my chest was weezin
I like the fact that he sampled two classic musicals about orphans XD
Retired.
2006- show me what you got
2007-hello Brooklyn
2009- DOA. Run this town. Empire State of mind. (Top 100 song of all time)
2010/2011-niggas in Paris. Otis. Ham.
I can keep going. But I’ma stop there cause that’s where he stop.
But stop the bullshit. Name a time bro wasn’t the biggest of the hottest. He showed us how to become a billionaire as a rapper. The first to do it. It’s bigger than rap with him. Put some respect on that nigga name.
late 90s early 00s best hip hop era
😊
A long time I liked this song for 4 years like Jay z is a hard worker

A NY rapper called joey badass reminds me of this. Check him out.
Except queensbridge is the most dangerous one
I have concrete evidence. Here is complete full crime statistics of EVERY SINGLE HOUSING PROJECT in the city. its updated weekly. brooklyn has most crime, followed by the bronx.
www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/downloads/pdf/crime_statistics/hb_eagle_report.pdf
This year to date NYPD reports Marcy Projects had 1 Murder, 1 Rape, 6 Robberies, 21 Felony Assaults, 2 Burglaries, 7 Grand larceny, and 2 shootings.
Queensbridge had 1 Murder, 2 rapes, 10 Robberies, 25 Felony Assaults, 12 Grand Larceny, 2 Shootings
And piss poor utilities
Not to mention rent increases when income doez

This song makes me so thoughtful and greatful/thankful for my mother
[Intro: Jay-Z]
Uh huh yea, yeah
Duro!
You gotta let it bump
Uh, uh, uh like dat yeah
Come on bring the chorus in
[Chorus: Sample]
I'd risk everything
For one kiss, everything
Yes I'd do anything (Anything?)
Anything for you
[Verse 1: Jay-Z]
I’d do a bid, loose a rib, bust a cap, trust in that
Run up to heaven doors, exchange my life for yours
Leave a steak out the door, mi casa, su casa
Just remember to turn the lights off in the hall
My brother from another pop, minus one shot
We Nino and Gee Money, man, we all we got
From the stoop to the big dudes, stoppin' us from playin' hoops
And us getting mad, throwing rocks off the roof
Straight thuggin' man, I thought we would never progress
But look at us now man, we're young execs
My nigga Dame, my nigga Biggs, my nigga Ty
My nigga High, my nigga Gotti
We embody all that’s right with the world
No matter how pretty she is, you never liking my girl
That's how we run, when you ain’t around
I'll spank ya son, keep him in line
If you should die, I’ll keep him like mine
God forbid, keep this in mind, my nigga
[Chorus: Sample]
I'd risk everything
For one kiss, everything
Yes I'd do anything (Anything?)
Anything for you
I'd risk everything
For one kiss, everything
Yes I'd do anything (Anything?)
Anything for you
[Verse 2: Jay-Z]
I know Momma, your little baby
But these streets raised me crazy
Product of my environment, nothing can save me
Thanks for letting me bloom, for your wisdom, for your womb
For the roof over my head, for my shoes, for my bed
For the most important lesson in life was when you said
"Strive for what you believe in, set goals and you can achieve them"
Thanks for the days you kept me breathing
When my asthma was bad and my chest was wheezin'
Thanks for the look of love just as I was leaving
On nights you thought that I wouldn't come back, that left you grieving
Thanks for holdin' down the household when times was bad
As a man, I apologize for my dad
When the rent was due, you would hustle like a pimp would do
That wasn’t the life meant for you
You’re a queen, you deserve the cream, everything that gleamed
Everything that shines, everything that’s mine

I'd risk everything
For one kiss, everything
Yes I'd do anything (Anything?)

For one kiss, everything
Yes I'd do anything (Anything?)
Anything for you

Dear nephews, I’m writing' this with no pen or a pad
And I’m signing it, ya uncle, ya best friend, and ya dad
Don't look back if you fall and you’re feeling bad
I’m right there from your cut to when you peelin' the scab
If it comes a time when you ain’t feelin' your real dad
Put my face on his body don’t wait for nobody
Don’t follow no nigga, that's ho shit man
Stand on your own two, do your shit man
The world is yours, some girls are nice some girls are whores
Don't listen to your crew, do what works for you
Standing back from situations gives you the perfect view
You see the snakes in the grass and you wait on their ass
Bite your tongue for no one and whatever is said
Take it how they want, a closed mouth don't get fed
You know my number when it’s code red
If you're wrong, my nigga
You're my nephew, fuck it we get it on my lil nigga
