I love the new Winchester’s. Miroku is doing a fantastic job and has earned the use of the Winchester name. I’m proud to put my 1873 carbine with my pre-64 model 94’s, pre-64 shotguns and 9422 22lr.

I love my Miroku made 1873 Winchester saddle ring carbine in .357/.38.
It’s beautifully made and finished. It’s also extremely accurate. I was lobbing some .38spl at about 190 yards hitting a trash can lid off hand. When I went and looked at it, you could cover 11 shots with a 7x7 piece of paper. She’s a keeper.

I just ordered one of the new production 1873 Winchester’s in Short Rifle configuration with color case hardening. Excited to pick it up after I get home from deployment. I own a 1860 Henry Original built Henry Repeating Arms exactly like the ones depicted in the video and it such a awesome shooting rifle. You just gotta really wipe it down well and use a metal polish on the brass receiver to keep it looking new.

8:30 To be fair there is no American mass manufacturer of firearms that does it with the precision of Miroku.

@@nothim7321 Hi Jeff, Yes, I own a pump action in .22lr and their GoldenBoy in .22lr. Both nice guns that I won't part with. I also have shot/own about five Miroku long arms. I just think they're a better fit and finish. The Henry's are nice but if I had to pick who was better I'd nod to Miroku. That won't stop me from every buying a Henry though.

They had lathes and other machine tools, including things like power hammers and what not, either steam or water powered... The toggle link system was actually first invented by the volcanic arms company, Smith and Wesson actually. When it went under, Oliver Winchester bought up the rights, B T Henry was his plant manager and made some improvements... With the 1866 model they added the King's patent loading gate. The 1873 just added the side plate and change of material for the receiver...At least that is what I think I remember from Ian at Forgotten Weapons...

I've got a blued Winchester Model 1873 Short Rifle by Miroku in .45 Colt, and it is my most prized possession. I love that gun. I can't wait until I'm 21, when I can get a Colt 1873 Single Action Army to match it. I know that historically, the pair would be in 44-40, but I chose .45 Colt for the availability.

This year i bought a remington 783 in 300 win mag but next year its going to be a Henry, thinking 45 long colt but who knows! Maby a more rare or more common round! Who knows. LOVE THE VIDEO THOUGH! Keep them up!

When we recently moved to Texas Kommiefornia, the first firearm I bought and had wanted all my life was a lever action rifle. I had saved up enough money and figured I just as well go whole hog and get an actual Winchester 1873. I got it in .45 Long colt. Absolutely love this rifle! And it’s history.

This is one of my favorite rifles. Ever since watching Dawn of the Dead as a young kids (I know it’s not th same rifle) I wanted a lever action rifle. And I feel it’s maneuverability and the 357(especially from a rifle) is easy to shoot and very lethal. I just can across a great deal in one, I can’t wait to get it in hand. This is definitely one I will never part way with. I also recently picked up a Rossi R92.

Never been fired?! I’m sorry... I know the guns don’t belong to me and he’s free to do what he wants, but guns weren’t meant to be safe queens. Guns were meant to be functional above all else, used to protect life, liberty and property. They were meant to be fired.

Cold water, Cold water, Cold Water!!! Our trainers stressed that we wash our hands and then face with cold water first because it closes the pores of the skin making it harder for lead to permeate it. Once all the lead is washed off I suppose you could wash again with warm water if you really want to.

I suppose in reality the fact that you people have so many gun related incidences could be traced back to lead poisoning of some sort pickling the brains of those idiots who think it's cool to shoot at moving targets. Just for the record, I've owned .303's for target shooting back in the 60's, didn't wear ear muffs so now I have a continuous ring tone in each ear. I have to wonder that you call it a gun.....?....my corporal in the military said this is your rifle etc etc.....never call it a gun.

Excellent 👍. I'm seriously thinking about getting this Winchester 1873 trying to decide between 44-40 for the 45 Colt? I know the 44-40 was the standard and the 45-cult was never available. The 45 Colt is a little bit more powerful but the 4440 was the standard in the 1873 for almost 50 years so it must get the job done because back then it was really used for self-defense hunting survival. Let your father-in-law know guns that you don't shoot why have them? If I can't shoot a gun I don't want it just to collect. Thanks it's a fun good review 👍

That is not a reproduction, It is actually a Winchester 1873. Uberti makes a reproduction, and I think there may be another Italian company that makes a copy. But not Winchester. That's like calling a new Remington 870 a reproduction just because its new. Get my point?

Winchester 1892 in .44WCF aka .44-40. I love that TV show. Chuck Connors had a saddle ring carbine version with large lever loop and a special set screw that when properly adjusted would squeeze the trigger with every cycle of the lever meaning he never actually had to pull the trigger, effectually it’s the equivalent of slam firing an old 1897 pump shotgun by working the slide with the trigger held down. This is how he could empty the whole magazine tube in well under 5 seconds. Great TV show.

You're extremely off on your history. Henry DID NOT invent the toggle action. Walter Hunt did. Smith and Wesson developed the ammunition for it and produced the weapons under the Volcanic Arms partnership. To make a long story short, this was later purchased by Winchester, who was a textile and garment multimillionaire. His head mechanic was Henry, who had toyed with Volcanics and improved them. Winchester had ideas for improving the design, as did other engineers but Henry thought his rifle was perfect and refused to let the design change. Winchester then realized that he had the rights to the toggle system and divested his interest in Henry and founded his own company. Henry sued and lost. Winchester then produced the Winchester 1866 - a much better rifle than the Civil War Henry, which had many annoying, finicky, hard to produce and very unsafe attributes. Capitalism prevailed over ego and proved Henry was wrong when everyone bought the Winchester without those negative features. Henry went out of business and worked as a talented and well in demand gunsmith the rest of his life - who refused to work on Winchesters.
