    I hope that you can do an overview about the kernel osc one day.
    your channel is one of the best in my opinion.

    Cheers Tim! I was hoping for one of these videos. I really hope they implement disc streaming and a proper import / auto-mapping function. Far too much effort for me to be bothered with.

    The effects sound pretty good from the Quantum. Effects have gotten better over the years inside of the synths.

      Btw does the Quantum do anything special with samples in terms of pitch shifting? Or is it just the regular speed up and slow down the sample as per other samplers as we know it? I ask because I love using samplers like Samplewiz/V-Synth and the way those synths pitch samples can lead to amazing sounds.

    • @TimShoebridge
      @TimShoebridge  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@neilloughran4437 Thanks a lot. No the Quantum does not do the kind of intelligent pitch shift that you get in a vsynth unfortunately. They could of course add it in firmware at a later date but not many companies seem to have perfected that technology in their products....

    • @neilloughran4437
      @neilloughran4437 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TimShoebridge yeah really odd that... wonder why hardware samplers/synths have not really embraced it... Samplewiz in particular is amazing when using the "modern" setting... and that's years old and AFAIK not developed anymore.

    This is great. I have not even explored the sampling side of the Quantum. Seems like no more a pain than the Kronos was. I sampled the crap out of my OSCar before I sold it and look forward to making polyphonic OSCar patches for the Quantum

      Is it a way to
      sequence your patches in a mpc track1,2,3 etc or do i have to do
      each patch 1 at a time and then record it and then do another one?

    Wonderful video as always, this sample import seems tedious, with sample robot support note supporting quantum irridium is it easier?

    Is this a good synth to learn synthesis on and grow with for all kinds of electronic music.

    • @WokeFree-sg2dn
      @WokeFree-sg2dn หลายเดือนก่อน

      In my opinion, yes. Many woyld maby say its to complicatet synth. But i didn‘t think so. The structure is very clear and easy to understand. You can start with wuantum, like it was an normal analog synth with a well known panell like the Minimoog.
      You can start very simple and if your skills grow, you can get as deep as you want and get lost in a good way.
      Furthermore it is able to do FM, Wavetable, Samling and more. Its a cool synth but i do not like the analog filters. I never turn them on. So maybe its more wise to get the iridium for less mony.

    • @TimShoebridge

      Hi. No, but the only reason why is because I got an Iridium desktop which suited my needs a little better. The quantum went to a friend and is the cornerstone of his setup.

    Round Robin? is that when you have 3 samples each in a different octave?

    • @TimShoebridge
      @TimShoebridge  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is when you have multiple samples mapped to the same key or key range, so each time you press a key you will hear a different sample. Round robins help to create a sense of realism.

    Waldorf needs to create an editor for PC. They did cut many corners for a premium software based synth.

    Is there any tool to import multi samples from a computer ? The creation should be massively easier. I know that specter for blofeld could do it for blofeld, but I do not know anything about the supported formats of the Iridium. Also can you store the preset on the sdcard usb stick?

    Tim, I love your vids and honesty. I'm thinking of getting one of these. I've been searching the net for a few questions, so maybe you can help. Does it have a randomizer? and does it have a software editor? I'm really interested in the sampling aspect, but your saying it's very limited . so is this a machine that you love to death, and creates sounds that are worth the $$$? Thanks. And again, you vids are top top quality. like watching a classic film

    • @InFamousProductions

      @ i got one about 2 years ago, and got the sample robot demo. And yes, it’s a super cold software, but I haven’t decided if I want to be emulating everything on the quantum since the sounds I would be pulling off of other synths I could just do on those machines so I haven’t really figured out if it’s worth the money to get the sample robot even though it is super cool

    Iridium or Quantum? Which is your preference?

    • @CharlesFerraro
      @CharlesFerraro 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Iridiummm
      But really neither... they don’t offer any synthesis options I don’t already have.
      FM and PM are far more robust in the Kronos and Padshop 2 is probably the best granular engine ever made with the added perk of spectral synthesis.

    • @TimShoebridge
      @TimShoebridge  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If I had my time again I would choose Iridium over Quantum, just because I prefer 16 voices fully digital to 8 voices with analog filters. The biggest limitation I find with the Quantum is polyphony

    I don’t know why Waldorf didn’t make entering samples and creating patches more user friendly, it’s a great keyboard but it could have been perfect. A lot,of money to spend so long creating a sound that you can now get from a Roland or arturia subscription for a faction of the price. Am tempted to return mine after wasting another 5 hours. I can use my akai to sample or my daw in seconds…… not lying the keyboard is super cool but justify 4k to have this headache. Just buy an osmoe
