Dude the presentation of the third dish is on another league compared to Yukihira 's and has alot more texture too. It is essentially Yukihira's chaliapin steak but more aesthetically pleasing.
And it's not too much more expensive! Could easily turn this into a full rice bowl

Isnt the steak supposed to be cut in a grid pattern and then hammered down thin, to maximize the onion effect and break up the meat to remove any texture, basically turning it into minced meat?
It's up for debate on that one. He didn't do that in the Anime but I believe the Manga does.

It's been a while since we saw a gourmet prep on this channel! Not since the deconstructed mole poutine, I believe. The channel does have somewhat of a focus on enabling more amateur cooking, but I do quite enjoy seeing the higher level expertise come out to play. As the pandemic winds down, these kind of preparations to serve larger parties, foster community, become relevant again.
Of course, in the manga/anime, the steak is supposed to turn out fork tender. Is that totally creative license, or would marinating longer eventually get there? Either way, though, sous vide is definitely the permanent game changer for steak.

We have a Rachel at work and when I hear her name I yell it out like Batman.😄 I feel her so much. I am a competent cook. I can make decent food. I am so uncomfortable in the kitchen. The anxiety is real. I have practically given up on cooking all together.

The fancy version reminded me of how the Japanese buffet restaurants in my city served their tuna tataki, in a soup spoon like yours with a bit of sauce and veggies. Yours looks much better though.

Hey Chef are you by chance following Campfire cooking in another world with my absurd Skill? Another cooking anime but with Isekai (family friendly Isekai) the food in it isn't all that complex given he basically has Amazon Prime + Uber eats as his special ability, but the depiction of it is top notch, so can we expect a video on that anime? Idk these days such anime about an adult cooking with his pets/familiars and traveling and just chilling feel so much better and relatable than stuff like Boku no Hero Academia, given I am an adult now, who cooks and like traveling, photographing various animals and farming/growing fruits.

Hey PK! How do you pick wines for deglazing or sauces? We never know what kind to get when recipes call for red or white wine because there are so many choices - dry, sweet, medium… so for this steak would we pick a red wine that has a description of “recommended to be paired with steak”? Is that a good rule of thumb to follow?
I use whatever is cheap :) using a wine in food to deglaze only gives so much flavor before its lost.
However, using wine directly into a sauce or Stew CAN change the flavor as its not being cooked out. I recently hit my cottage pie with a shot of really smokey whiskey and it changed it up a lot.
But when is Rachel going to finish watching Shokogeki no Soma?
