Ha ! Missisippi padle part 2 . I can completely understand why you do this highlight videos : they trigger a lot of memories ! Think i'm going to bingewatch the whole thing again .
It’s been interesting editing them and getting to see how back to back some of the struggles came. Since when we were out there the days felt so long I tend to loose track of how many days ago x happened
Hey Matt, Been watching you recap of the Mississippi River while I’m down here in White Springs, Florida getting ready to run the Suwanee river for the fifth time. Lots of great times on the Mississippi and you captured them well. Take care and have a great hike this year. A person who stayed at the B&B here last week was the first woman to do the entire American Discovery Trail. Enjoy and be safe!
Hey Nanook, I’m jealous. I really want to do the Suwannee again when we can spare the time. So many plans, so little time though. Has your opinion of the Missouri gone up at all in the post trip period?
Afraid our next big paddle won’t be until June of 2025 when we plan to do the Yukon source to sea. We’re currently in the run up to a cross country hike from Delaware to San Franscisco
Are Jen's students aware how much of an explorer is teaching class? Out of curiosity, what would be different with your trip is you were the first explorer of the Mississippi? Or were the first settlers to ever paddle down the river? You would have to do something different for water for example?
She talks about our adventures sometimes and has been written up in her school paper. Honestly she makes *less* of a big deal about it than I would but we also figure it's probably best if they aren't watching the videos. Probably less easy access to spigots…

I showed Taters the rough cut this weekend and she just about squee'd herself to unconsciousness over all the happy memories
Great work again Matt ! Thoroughly enjoy these recaps!
Thanks!
Fun to watch, although knowing there will not be funnels of love takes the tension away :D :D
At least until we’re walking across Kansas this year… :)
All the hardships you guys endured really strike home watching these compilation videos. I admire your fortitude and courage.
Loving the recap videos. I watch the early videos of this trip again. Hope the planning for ADT is on point!
These recaps are really great, a wee bit of foreshadowing of the hot temps to come in this one.

I enjoyed this trip as it happened, and it's great to see in this format as well.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Hope we get a canoe trip soon that's the reason I subscribed to this channel

The background music is the piéce de resistance!
Pretty sure I've been hearing that track in my sleep after all the hours I've spent making these... :)
If you had any boat issues, Winona is home to Wenonah Canoes.
Sadly, background music is a deal killer for me - maybe I'll watch with CC and no sound
Were you usually the only boat in a lock?
More often than not we were in there alone. The majority of the other traffic was barges and we couldn't fit in with them.

Those jumping fish really made me nervous for you. I wouldnt want to get hit in the head by one of those.
They were making us pretty nervous for a while there especially after we saw someone taken off the river by a fish strike injury.
