I LOVED the Sims 2 ikea pack! Idk if this’ll make sense but in the Sims 4 it seems like the furniture was all designed to be like sets (like there’s the cheap basic items, an ultra-modern style set, regal/old-fashioned style furniture etc), I feel like we need more general contemporary furniture items we could use in all types of house, which the ikea pack would be perfect for :’)

I know, right? I keep thinking of all the outside plants in his Wags to Riches series & how you can spend HOURS of in game time just tending the garden, as if you have nothing else to do all day. LOL.

Same. I was a hard core sims player back in the day and this reminded me the love i had for it. I intend to purchase a gaming laptop and base game (with expansion packs) so i can jump right back in. Actually any recommendations for a laptop to handle all of this?

You could totally put a stacked washer/dryer in the master walk in closet instead of the decorative clothes rack/shoes, it's next to a bathroom and there is space for it.

Samantha Kate where I live it's not unusual for laundry to be in a closet, especially if that closet is near a bathroom and thus convenient plumbing. Some people don't like the idea of a toilet and laundry sharing space, a wardrobe already HAS laundry in it. Granted having it in the master is slightly more unusual then just a closet, but not that much so. Plus it's a handy spot in this build that wouldn't interfere with other gameplay functional items.

if only Sims 4 developers would push the limit like you building houses. I mean this house builds alone give me more "wow" than Sims 4 development so far.
I wonder if some of the game designer watch this video and think "Hey, let's be innovative like James here today and make something in Sims 4 that never been done before."
EA is not going to do anything they don't have to. This whole game depends on players making content-- they are providing an engine and basic pieces and they "outsource" the creativity.

I have a challenge for you. Huge university student shared house. Has to accommodate 8 adults. You rarely do big builds and I always have massive families, flex those skills, my dude. (They are students, you aren't allowed to make it fancy and modern, they live on pot noodles, not caviar.
(I hope he sees this!)

You've really outdone yourself with this build James! I've moved in a family, made the music room into Grandma's bedroom and added the laundry to the bathroom on the ground floor. I love playing in it!
I would LOVE to see a "lived in" modern home. Maybe an additional furnishing video where you go through and add extra items that gives the home a feeling like real people actually live there? Kind of like what you did with the Parenthood series since that home was very messy, but instead of a weird quirky house a nice modern one.

That kitchen is stunning! This build actually reminds me a lot of some of the houses in The Sims 3 (in a good way). I love the split levelling. I know it's not likely but I'm still hoping we get terrain tools and/or constrainfloorelevation in TS4 at some point. I really think it would improve building in the game so much.
This is the best speed build on a modern house ive ever seen this far, as it relates to one utilizing their creativity
The idea of putting the plants on lamps were the coolest idea for furnishing in a while. Can't believe I haven't though of it.. Truly of of the best build and furnishing you've ever done. Even though it's still very colourless as usual, the wooden details is really good and makes it real nice.
I always use the chess table. Chess table, guitar and easel are always in the houses I build.
I will never understand the laundry part either, but I will buy the pack for all the other furnishes..

House by the beach with so many glasses and modern architecture. The interior is very minimalistic and modern, this is MY DREAM HOME
Your houses are the only ones I use in game because the detail and care you put into them is incredible. Makes me feel at home when I see my Sims living in them.

The coral reef bit in the water at the back is just gorgeous, I love it and I'm definitely going to try it out in my game!
Idea: Why don't you and other simmers collab and furbish the exact same room/house? It would be so nice to see the different styles and approaches!
I love the use of the small square windows it really gave it some more variety instead of just the huge ones

I LOVE this build, and Im a huge fan of that living room/kitchen set up. The open concept meets seperate space combined with the cat walk 😍 This is my favorite build so far!
That hanging plant trick is GENIUS. Can't wait to try it out in my greenhouses. :D
Also, you have to be careful about placing the ** DEBUG ** items, like the bowl you tried out. I learned the hard way after using one as a decorative pet toy bin in a pet shop build that Sims will view the bowls, plates, empty glasses, and everything else like that as a 'dirty' item and will immediately clean it up (unless they're a slob/lazy). So, if you ever plan to use those items as decor, it's not going to work in a lived-in home/active lot.

Deb V I think the laundry gameplay only works if you have all the components for it (hamper, something to wash and dry clothes with), so you could still buy the pack for the furniture, and just never use the washing machines.

Yea, love this house. I'm a sucker for catwalks. Ok that sounds weird, but really, I love the open atrium look with a floating walkway that you can look down over everything, and I also loved the little nook above the door area with the plants you added. As well as dropping the living room down. I guess I just love the depth that the nooks and heights of everything in this build. Would be interesting to try some of those things with more of a cottage house, or something log cabin-y

That’s a really beautiful house!! Kinda wished there was a basement where you could bowl or watch movies in a theater type of thing but the house still looks so amazing!!
What if there was a challenge where you had to start out furnishing a "house" (without walls or flooring) first and then you had to build the walls around it? 🤔😂
i can't even begin to say how much i love your builds. this is magnificent and so much love and work put into it. just wow.
The problem with debug dishes is your sim will think it's a dirty dish and clean it up. I love the idea of the bowl though, but I wish debug dishes could work as decoration too but I understand why it doesn't .
kriscat12 also the bowl will eventually spoil and give negative moodlets to sims.

Hey James! I usually make all my bedrooms the same, but recently, I used the City Living couch with the tuffed back as a headboard and nightstand for my sim's bed and it looked really modern and chic. I also used the moveobjects cheat and the 9 key to put stuff on the nightstand area. Love your vids!

I watched part one last night and was so sad because part two wasnt out yet then I realized it had only come out 17 hours earlier and part two is already out and im so impressed.
Reminds me a little of a beach rental which would be fun to build. Like those ones in Florida near Disney that are a bunch of money to rent. You should do that. Build one of those big rental houses with the themed rooms.

I'd love to see your take on the "City Native" aspiration in a starter apartment. That is, to renovate a starter apartment until it's worth at least $100,000. I find it's quite tough to do so in such a small space! I bet you'd come up with something that looks amazing.
