A lot of people assume that the queen nodding her head was permission, it was not the permission you think. From a man's perspective, she told her husband, I am with you, good or bad. She knew what it meant, she knew what she was going to sacrifice, she told him, I love you and I will endure the sacrifice of giving the man I love and the father of my children, for the glory and survival of Sparta. She told him, I am ready to stand by your side.
A wise man will marry a wise woman to check his ideas against. You are correct, it's not like a child asking permission from his mommy. It's checking with someone whose opinion you value, before you pull the trigger on something that is going to change your life forever. It was still the king's decision, but every king should have advisors he can trust, even better if your queen is competent enough to be one of them.
I agree with not trashing the film for it's historical inaccuracy. It was based on Frank Millers 300, a graphic novel. It's for entertainment. That would be like watching Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and knocking it for it's historical inaccuracies. It just doesn't make sense to get mad at it. Just suspend all disbelief and enjoy the ride!
Correct. The secretive "Krypteia" were upper class youngsters who had to steal from Helots, kill them to cover it up and then get away with it without being found out as part of a right of passage. I think.
In this day and age, they don't make those types of movies anymore, sadly; even the spoof/parody movies like you mentioned. Shame, really, as to me they're *peak cinema* looking back

This movie, besides of its unique style, has a lot of iconic lines, well delivered. This was Snyder at his best
In a way, it really feels like a "one of a kind" movie.

Hold up! What historical inaccuracies were there in Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter???🤔😯
Didn't they have to kill someone @ not be seen @ get away with it?

Yeah, as well as the Mel Brooks type of comedies as well. Classics
So if you dress for the movie, when you watching Star Wars you dress like Obiwan Kinoby?
I could stand to lose some weight, perhaps I'll dress like Jabba. lol. My favorite Jedi of all time is Qui-Gon Jinn.
