  • Creating a wedding timeline is a must for every couple. In this video I’ll share the 5 mistakes I see couples make when it comes to planning out the timeline for the day. Avoid these and save stress!!
1 | Choosing a getting ready location that is too far from the ceremony and reception locations.
2 | When couples do choose locations that are more than a few miles apart AND then they also do not hire professional transportation. Instead they rely on ride share, or plan drive themselves, or rely on a friend to drive.
3 | Under booking the photographer on the front end of the day.
Here’s a break down of what every photographer needs:
    - A half-hour for details (invitation suite, dress, suite, etc.)
    - A half hour of finishing touches (first look with dad, bridesmaid reveal, mom buttoning up duress)
    - A half hour for the first look, a half hour for wedding party pics, a half hour for family pics.
    - Then another half hour if you want extended family pictures (like big groups with all the aunts, uncles, and cousins)
    - Plus your photographer needs to be free for a ½ hour before the ceremony. They can use that time to prepare but also to catch some pictures of your event spaces before guest arrival.
If you are not doing a first look, and will take your couple, full wedding party and the couple with the family pictures after the ceremony, you can take away about 1 hour of time for the photog.
4 | Finishing hair and makeup services too late. As a rule of thumb, every person receiving services should have the hair and makeup complete a full ½ hour before the photographer arrives!
5 | Not having an exit plan.
We have a video on special exit ideas, you can watch that here: • 15 UNIQUE WAYS TO LEAV...
This is the end of your wedding day story and it should be considered just like the other parts of the day.

wedding photographer here! I'd like to say that as a wedding photographer, I need 2 hours for bridal prep so it feels relaxed and unrushed. Thank you for sharing this information though! Your videos are helpful for couples planning a wedding

Thank you for watching Miranda! That's great feedback, as part of our process we always as our photographers what they need and make sure we adjust our timeline to allow for their best work. What do you include in your bridal prep? For example Detail Photos, Robes Photos, Bridesmaid Reveal, Father of Bride 1st Look, letters? Some couples want all of those things and they need more time. Others skip right to getting dressed! Would love insight into your process. Thanks so much for your comment!

@@UncommonCamellia thank you for your response :) My bridal prep includes 30 min of detail shots, a glam portrait once hair and makeup is finished, fun bridesmaids in robes shot, getting into the dress, putting on shoes, jewelry, and bridesmaids first look, reading the letter/gift, first look with father figure, bridal portraits before seeing her fiance. Sometimes it can take 90 min but I like 2 hours just incase, you know, the wedding day hiccup occurs :)
