From wikipedia -- "The song is about a friend of the band, a girl named Michelle Young who is thanked in the cover sleeve. Slash knew Young throughout junior high, as she was a friend of Slash's first girlfriend. According to Axl Rose, he and Young were in a car together when "Your Song" by Elton John came on the radio and Young 'happened' to mention that she had always wanted someone to write a song about her. Rose's first attempt was a sweet, almost romantic song, but one that had absolutely nothing to do with the reality of Michelle's life. He was unhappy with this version and re-wrote it, this time seeking to be completely honest.[3] Several members of the band expressed concern over this version of the song, especially Slash, fearing it would upset Young.[4] Rose himself then became hesitant, but finally decided to show it to her. She liked the song and the attention it brought to her, and was especially pleased with its honesty, most notably regarding her drug addiction, the death of her mother and her father's work in the pornography industry,[4] all of which are mentioned within the first verse. According to Slash's self-titled autobiography, Young managed to clean up and move across the country to escape her lifestyle.

What you're listening to is pure raw, real, unaopologetic, unadulterated badass rock. Appetite for Destruction is 12 tracks rammed down your f**king throat one after the other. It grabs hold of you, smacks you all over then leaves you in a state wondering what you just heard. Then you need to listen to it again & again & again & again until you finally understand it & realise what you've been missing as you're from the wrong generation but nothing wrong with finally listening to REAL music

When they announced their tour date in Wichita, KS, I was on the presales!!
It's nice to see them being introduced to a new generation of fans.

Am I the only one who loves their version of "Live And Let Die" in here?! (Live and Let Die was a Bond theme song, written by Paul and McCartney, as in Paul McCartney from the Beatles).
I remember going to a dance competition...and I would get so excited to see rock songs being used. I saw the most epic solo to R.E.M "Everbody Hurts" I still remember some of the choreo...but one day I saw a number in the program that was to "Live and Let Die." I still remember being so stoked. I waited in the audience to see it, before I had to go warm up. And then the dance choreography was awful, and I was soooo sad, lol!

I know Michelle was a Slash's old friend, that turned around the band and had a little story with Axl, in a few words she was a band's friend. Somewhere I read an article (frankly more articles) that said one day, when they was in car and were listening to the radio, it started "Your Song" by Elton John and Michelle said, like a dig, that no one had still written a song for her. So they do it, but it's not just like Your Song. Anyway the song tells Michelle's troubled story and is with any dubt sincere, and A MASTERPIECE.

Dig all these reaction videos. Having an open mind leads to all kinds of great journeys. I've been playing the guitar for almost thirty years. All of the songs you've been hearing and reacting to are all my hero's and millions of others for good reason! As you've been finding out. Enjoy the ride! An interesting common thread among them all is, at the core, the musical fundamentals of most of these songs from the 60's right through to the present is, The Blues. These songs are the voices and souls of your ancestors speaking to you through the musicians, singers and song writers they inspired. From guys like Clapton, Gilmour, Richards, Page, Santana, Hendrix, through to Angus Young, Slash, Tom Morello, Alex Lifeson, Stevie Ray Vaughn, They were all inspired directly or indirectly by guys like BB King, John Lee Hooker, Albert King, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Son House, women like Aretha Franklin, Sister Rosetta Tharpe who were inspired by gospel songs from the south. They've left a massive library of music to discover. Keep looking for more.
    You should check out :
The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary, or Fire Woman.
    KISS - Detroit Rock City
Alice Cooper - Welcome to My Nightmare
    David Bowie - Rebel, Rebel
    Audioslave - Cochise
Rage Against the Machine - Renegades of Funk
The Beatles - While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Watch the live version at the Tribute to George Harrison, featuring Prince, Tom Petty among others)
Jeff Healey - See the Light, the live on Night Music 1988 version. He was a blind blues guitarist/singer from Canada.

Not adding any Wikipedia info or nothing like that, i loved your surprise and expression when it dropped in. Yes, its like a foot in the chest, just what it was supposed to be. I do admire your appreciation for "older" rock and expanding your mind. Thank you for being here👍.
