    Thanks Fred! Great job. I am having a hard time locating a fuse for my accessory power. I decided to pull power from the factory harness so I only need to find a fuse placement for power to be cut when the door opens. Can you tell me which one you used for that purpose?

      Hi, hopefully your van is the same as mine. The fuse position I use was position "43" located at the bottom row. It will cut power when ignition switches off & driver door opens. Hope that helps. I actually have more trouble finding the always on battery power from the fuse box. Every time I thought I found it, my clock and preset still got wiped if I don't use the van a few days. So I finally hardwired it to the battery terminal, instead from the fuse box.

    Did you upgrade your speakers? If so which brand and model did you go with?

      Do you think this 445a (or similar) plus new speakers can be attached to the OEM head unit?

    Nice detailed presentation but (with the vid volume max and my speakers on max) there was a problem:
    - either the sound recording sucks
    - either your phone was far away from you
    - either you spoke too softy
    I could hardly hear what you said, actually it seemed like you were talking for yourself there.
    So please do mind the sound next time you're doing a video presentation on something :)

      Thanks for the comments. I don't have a dedicated mic and I used the phone's mic which is not the best. However, I did adjust to a reasonable level during editing and it sounded okay from my end on either computer or mobile devices. Sorry it didn't come thru for you.

    Nice video. You mention running wires up the a-pillar. Did you have to rewire the factory rear camera and radio/gps antennas?

    • @fredzhang5212
      @fredzhang5212  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Both factory camera and radio can be tapped in behind the rear view mirror using the Mid City Engineer radio and camera cables ("adapter"). Those two cables are what will be run in the a-pillar down to your head unit. Mid City Engineer website have very good installation instruction for them: Radio: midcityengineering.dozuki.com/Guide/907ANT+-+2019+Sprinter+(907)+Antenna+Adapter/22?lang=en; camera: midcityengineering.dozuki.com/Guide/Installation+-+907CAM+OEM+Camera+Integration+to+Aftermarket+Radio/20?lang=en

    Is your Circuit Fuse Tap insulted alright? Looks like up-side-down.
    Please let me know if you changed after this video. Thank you.

      Thanks for the comment. I double checked. The way the fuse taps were connected in video is correct. At least in my Sprinter, the top fuse slot is HOT. You should always draw from the opposite side otherwise you will have no fuse protection.

    I'm curious to know why you need to take ignition and power in the fuse box? at the factory radio, you dont have these??

    • @fredzhang5212
      @fredzhang5212  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the question and sorry for the late reply. My understanding is that the after market radio would draw more power than the factory radio. Therefore the power from the factory harness may not have big enough of a fuse for it. Wired directly from fuse box will ensure you put the proper amp fuse for the new radio/amplifier. I guess, alternatively, you can try to find which fuse is for the factory radio and switch it. The risk of that is such fuse may not only governing radio alone....then you may risk something else. I would prefer not changing the factory circuitry. Make sense?

      @@fredzhang5212 I just completed the radio swap on mine. I used the factory 12V Power but take the 12V (red) on the lighter plug. Seem to work flawlessly

      @@alexleblanc88 Great! Congrats! Make sure the fuse for lighter plug doesn't exceed what the new radio specified in order to give your new radio proper protection.
