Great video! But have a question, if the modification factor is a function of a, how can we remove it outside of the integral and consider it constant. As the crack grows, Beta also grows, no?
Shouldn't delta sigma2 = (220 - (-220)) = 440 MPa?
I beilive u are right.
As he stated on the video, the value of sigma 2 will only consider the values of tensile stress, that is because it is assumed that the compressive part of the cycles won't cause crack propagation (it wont open the piece, this is better understood by watching a video of crack propagation test, where one can see that during the compression part of the cycle the crack does not move.)
