If you do this definitely cut the next oil change interval down a bit. Just because when it does clean up some sludge or deposits, it can put more stress on the filter
@@dannyrbailey or just get two or three cheaply filters and change those filters out throughout the interval, because I’m planning to do the same thing on my ‘12 Accord next year when I use the VR&P.
@@TrevorMuellerTV that’s pretty impressive - 400K miles. I have a ‘12 Accord with only 135K miles, so now my goal is to get it to 400K miles! What kind of maintenace do you do on your Civic? (Obviously oil changes).
Valvoline is my Favorite when it comes to Transmission Fluid. Question, does your car really take 5W-20? My outdated brain still thinks that any 20+ year old vehicle still takes 5W-30.
Wow 400k miles! I would be happy to get that out of mine. I have an 05 civic LX SE with 140k on it. So far so good. I know our gen civic can have head gasket issues. Have you had to replace head gasket ? Any major issues ? How often do you change oil ? Are you burning any oil ? Lastly what mileage did you buy the car ?
No head gasket issues, no other major issues. Oil is changed every 3,000 miles if not sooner and does not burn any. I just recently purchased the car but I know the previous owner and the car’s history.
@ oh wow that’s awesome! Thank you for the reply. Definitely earned a sub! These gen civics I feel like are slept on. Whoever had the car before you definitely took care of it. Would love to see what it looks like under valve cover one day! How do you like the Valvoline maxlife ? I was thinking about going with that or Pennzoil Ultra plat. I heard both have a good ad pack.
Lying about how much you paid for a car for “tax reasons” isn’t a thing anymore. They go by book value unless it’s a gift from family’. That’s basically the only loophole left
try the valvoline restore and protect engine oil. should clean up some of that sludge

Relaxing video good stuff
Glad you enjoyed it.
It's very good video. Why $1,000?
That’s how much I paid for the car.
What year Civic? I have the same bucket lol. For the oil plug and old filter I wear a plastic bread bag. Just throw the bag away after it gets wet.
It’s a 2004.

Oil changes, air filters, cabin air filters and trans fluid.
@ that’s what I was thinking too! 👍🏼

Yes 5w-20 is what’s recommended by Honda.
@@TrevorMuellerTV my nephew’s Civic is a 2005, and the Honda recommended viscosity is the same… 5W - 20.

I'm assuming original engine? Amazing.
Yup, still rocking the original engine!
Trans also? Awesome
Yes, still has the original clutch in it.
Tip: Get some gloves next time
