You may be doing this off camera but don’t forget to set up all your supplies for your dump chests with the new items that are being unlocked. That could be part of why they aren’t emptying.

I can’t remember how many genetics you have, but it will probably be a slow slog to create an animal then pet it to gather genetics, so I say better to go on another looting spree!
The aquatic life collector grabs green and red fish eggs along with plankton, the green ones are 300%, so it's very little extra work to boost your animal number with fish.

there is nothing on the island unfortunately. Honestly i feel like the devs missed a LOT of opportunities with Humble

The fish spreader unlocks after the frog farm, it should supply a higher amount of animals.
If you have too many materials - make more stuff to speed up terraforming. I have been enjoying the series.

Have you checked in the water under your base for chests?
You should put your production multiplier next to all of your crafters. Near the slow machines.
