1. Where the heck is the tip/thanks button? 2. You are all an inspiration to many to just stick your neck out there and try doing something and work on your skills even if it won't be perfect. I wanted to apply to this so badly but felt my decade of working for the Department of Defense has actually eroded most of my engineering skills and quick thinking that I would have been an absolute waste of space especially since I didn't have my own team to apply with coming from the East Coast. Analysis paralysis is the bane of my existence. I will start doing some side projects so I can come to these in the future.
he was beefed for a reason man it worse than just taking his shit xD the guy he was angry at stopped his 3d print mid print, cleared off the half printed object, and printed his own thing with the stolen stick. so Michael couldn't even resume print even if he recovered the usb stick, it was a dick move, Michael was a gentleman shaking his hand laughing it off.
Michael was valid for that😂 i don't know whats wrong with the other dude but he definitely hasn't been punched in the face before😂 bruh not only did he took the usb he cleared everything. Something is wrong with that guy
@@BunByte if you listen to him he also said that the print failed before he stopped it. So, from the other perspective, someone is essentially taking away one of the printers, but not actually using it to print something.
@@coasterthekid8867 failed because someone removed the usb stick. and what person would just toss out everything and use it? It's like going to a laundry mat, tossing everything on the floor and using it because it stopped mid wash.
I'm sure most didn't finish anything that could even start the competition within the timeline... I'm sure it devolved into individuals/teams abandoning their own projects to help work on other people's cooler projects and the "competition" turned into like minded people hanging out and building random cool dumb crap instead of even worrying about the "main event"... That's always the best part about small events/ clubs/ competitions like this. Who cares about "winning" when you could help with a double decker pizza box robot delivery robot, or just spend 24 hours 3D printing a ding ding keychain with William and Michael's faces as the balls?! 😉👍 Sadly I don't think anyone made such a wonderful item, but such shenanigans are the real competition, cliche but often true... That's why I also like randomly drawn prize tables at similar "competition" events besides maybe another grand prize for the actual winning person/team. Or some organizer choice prizes for people that actually need the prize or did something to deserve something noteworthy to earn a keepsake/prize, even if they came in dead last "officially". Because often the actual winner/winners probably already own better versions of everything on the prize table and have way more experience to begin with... Unless it's a large well funded event with serious value prizes that is a "serious" competition that requires significant investment/ sponsors for the competitors then sometimes printing ding ding keychains or meeting/teaching/learning from new people is actually winning, as cliche as it sounds/is! Just my opinion 🤷♂️ Oh ya so who won? 🤣👍
William I've been watching you for most of my life, and your videos helped me in achieving my dream of becoming an engineer. Seeing how you have continued to give back and help the younger generation learn and become interested in STEM through your videos, your events like this and OpenSauce is amazing and incredibly generous. I hope you continue to thrive! Your daughter will be so proud of you and what you've accomplished.
They say in the B-roll Michael is stabbing USB stick-stealing dude. Seriously what is the story there? No one is a big enough monster to kill someone's job mid-print, right?
We built semi-autonomous vehicles my first semester of electrical engineering and honestly I think it was one of the best ways you could introduce students to engineering. Other universities might try to scare away the less willing students with a bunch of engineering theory but mine did it by giving you a practical problem that can be difficult to solve but solving it or attempting to solve it is so rewarding and also pretty similar to a real world problem for engineers.
I'm part of a org team for a hackathon run by MIT, and I got to say based on this video you were able to capture the perfect feeling of a hackathon lol
I really hoped the only thing that didn't make people mad would've been going to McDonalds and getting an ice cream cone. Always my favorite bet to make that it's working
William, I want you to know, for all the car guys that watch you fix your car is like a train wreck, but deep down you actually want to watch it. Please keep doing it
The best part is Will demoing the robot and it not working and everyone laughing thinking its a joke but Will and us knowing it was, in fact, not a joke.

Cool story
Make your car follow a line, bigger line following robot.
And make something follow the car., line following robot following robot
Make breadcrumb following robot competition.
Isn’t that just what self driving cars are- the lines on the road
This is genius
Get it to drive right down the center of the road. Nothing could possibly go wrong.
Honestly, the fact your example car didn’t work is actually better, in a way, because that stops people from being as scared of failing
Gifting printers to family members to get rid of them? *takes notes* looked like an awesome first event! Combat robot hackathon next time maybe? 😗
A 24h pancake? I would love to see that!
Two robots, one line...the one that gets to the opposite end wins.
How they get past each other is up to imagination. Ingenuity.
Deviousness...
i wish someone would hackathon my combat robot 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨
IF THAT IS THE CASE I AM GOING!
"Nobody shits in my car, but me" That needs to be a sticker. Would definitely use one in my car.
Preventing car theft, one WTF moment at a time.
just make it yourself.
I remember when I did this at summer camp, our group just faked it and had the path hardcoded in

This seems way harder 💀💀
idk if i'd be mad or impressed lol
