Loving these everyday videos......makes me feel that I'm with you and Mina, but without the heat 😂
Thanks Les, glad you're enjoying them mate 👍
Great to see little Mina being looked after and hopefully you got the sugar .
You are too awesome. God bless your kind soul brother. I
Love it - as a dad of 4 the 'let's go home' is very familiar!!
Another great video mate your little girl is growing up and the English make me smile what a great life you both are doing for her and can see you are enjoying ,I must get over and see you next year still in Singleton but have Condo in Lampang and you have been there also ,Merry Christmas to all
I road a scooter is Thailand before and I really liked how traffic work, people don't really follow the rules but they don't expect you to either, if you aren't acting like an asshole it's fine. I see some of the same things in your video, with bikes are passing you on both the right and left side and your being chill about it and so are they. People get so mad here in the US if you 'pass them on the wrong side' but life is to short for road rage.
Great video..loved every minute. Young Mina is a real gem.
The traffic looks as bad as the UK school-run chaos. Wouldn't you be better off on a bike than plodding through it all in your monster truck? It looks safe enough to ride, as nothing goes above a jogging pace.
Todd informative as usual sir and u drive like a local lol 😅
Mate u live in Vientiane not Rome though lol 😂
I’m a bit embarrassed and surprised at my ignorance… all this time I thought loas was part of Cambodia. That’s why I’ve asked questions about Cambodia, I thought loas was a district in it. Dumb American again 🤷♂️
Don't feel bad about it, when Covid arrived I was in Vientiane and my UK travel insurance company said that it was my own fault as there were dozens of flights back to the UK after March 23rd. I asked them from which airport and airline. Reply: Ho Chi Minh city or Hanoi. I had to point out it was a different country.
Very common way to drive in third world countries
Great video as usual Tod, hope Neenee is well soon
Gee Mina makes everything so bright and happy.
Happy Christmas to your great little family ❤🎉❤🎉
Mina is picking up English fast. Great little shopper she showed you what you requested. Dogs are her thing. Hope wife is doing well. Stay safe and healthy.😊😊
Love your vid, traffic is same in my thai village/ town, except for driving on the right.❤
I guess we would do what you do in lao (like the romans do. Don't like that feeling of deer in the headlights. It looks like Mina is in charge of the shopping. Hope Neenee is doing ok after
oral surgery. Sending you all the best. Jim and Harriet
That's the same way I turn onto the streets too here in the Philippines. Creep out until you get in. As I have watch all of your videos a lot of things are the same or very similar here and there. Yes we can hear her singing. I guess you always get looks as a white man in Laos and even more with a little Asian girl. Let's go home. Very good. She will soon be bilingual no doubt. 👍👍 I hope Neenee is doing good. Thanks Todd.
Thanks Bob, all the best for Chrissie mate 🎄
Todd being an Aussie you should know nothing against the law if you don’t get caught
Nice driving and tips for driving like the locals
👍👍
Our little genius,,7 years old,,is a tri-linguist with a grand total of maybe 4 month of education! Amazing! Every time i hear her blurt something like that,,i feel proud of her. Even though i dont deserve to ,,,because i have really did anything for her. Is Neenee healing ok,,or is she still in alot of pain? You 3 take care of each other Koko blue too,,,Ttyl,,,Marlon
Neenee's coming along well Marlon.. gets the stitches out tomorrow mate 👌

I'm in Siemreap , Cambodia. As a former pro driver in Canada I was astonished at the traffic here. At first I was offended that instead of any real order it was like running with the bulls or something. How many times have I cursed at Canadian drivers who didn't use a signal. Play by the damn rules! But as I got more tuned to the zen of the Kampuchian driving style I figured out that everybody is just doing whatever the heck they want to do and that happens to fit with the same ethos than made me think to come here. Yeah , they drive like idiots but road rules aren't even a suggestion ; the thing is to stay alive and if you engage in that perspective you can do whatever you want and it somehow fits you in. If you don't like my driving get off the sidewalk!
My girlfriend lives about a mile from your house. We were out driving last time I was there and I was like "These flags over the drains look familiar!" Your truck was there and she was offering to stop. I didn't want to knock on the door of some famous TH-camr, lol. Some Internet Creeper showing up on your doorstep. The traffic, the first few days I was there gave me panic attacks, then I got used to it. Never could figure out the damn stop lights. People sitting at green lights, running through reds. We picked her daughter up from an English School every afternoon, down by the Import Car Dealer with the Ferrari's, Corvette's, and Porsche's. Somebody in that country has too much money .....
The roads in Vientiane really don't suit a Ferrari, Porsche, I don't know about Corvettes. You're going to tear up tyres and wheels at a hellish rate. As I'm sure you saw the potholes can swallow a car.😂
@@Murph945 right in front of that dealership was a pothole that a Toyota Four Runner wouldn't get though. There is money there, and it makes you shake your head. So many without.....
I moved to Veintiane a month ago but learned to drive S.E. Asia style during 6 years in Bangkok. I'm amazed at how calm folk here are when driving. (In extremely generalized terms, S.E Asian cultures appear more collaborative with less focus in individualism.) Thais emphasise "keeping a cool heart." When you nose out and push into traffic, no one gets angry, they do it too. There's no choice . My saying is "I don't drive here WE all drive together." Its easier once you understand the approach is FLOW. Thanks for this "just daily life" video. You've really helped my transitioning here.
What happened to your restaurant, I was there in 🇱🇦 Laos , visiting from America and your place was closed
Just luv the vids. Missing Asia. So much more relaxed than the West.
What I found easiest to do in/around cities driving a 4 door F350/wood chipper or a bucket truck/chipper or trailer would be to turn right there. When there's a break in the left lane and a place to turn around I'd whip it in there. Then I'd get back on the road going the direction I wanted to go to start with.
Compared to driving in Philadelphia,Maryland,DC,Northern Virginia for work with all the NDF's I haven't really seen anything to bad over there in your or some Thai videos. It actually looks safer there than it did in those places I've traveled for work.
Driving over there looks about the same as driving here in the Philippines. Driving defensively by constantly checking all mirrors and windows, while at the same time trying to drive offensively.
you should get a motorcycle.
I have one 😉
She’s such a little sweetheart 🎉🎉👍🙏🙏🙏 Good luck to her 🙏🙏
Good one mate, I'm picking up my new Hilux next week. Savannakhet isn't as crazy as Vientiane for the traffic but driving in Laos will be a new experience for me. Let's catch up sometime.
Most of vehicles in southern Africa and east Africa are right hand drive.
Am I the first to comment 😂🎉
It looks like you are 🏆🏅
I am in Vientiane now. I had reached out to you about meeting before but I was not in this part of Laos. I am waiting on a Visa to go to Vietnam. Let me know if I can meet up with you somewhere. Thanks.
She is definitely weaving in and out of the traffic in the market.
Todd what city do you live in yes it is more difficult to drive with right hand drive car which I have done several times in loas as I lived in Thailand to do the visa run and stayed few days we only drove in Ventien
And its entertaining enough listening to that ocka accent...
You were almost there mate, sugar is nam dtaan, (soft t)
Hey Todd, school finishes late as it was getting dark when you picked up Mina. Nev.
Hey Nev' 👋Yeah she's still playing catch up, stays back till 6pm with extra classes. They normally finish at 4:30pm
2:56 ... what is that on the back of the white truck ?
Looks like a Teak wood bench, really nice one too.
@@BadMedizin ... thanks for the good news! So I need a pair of glasses
did you park with the tyres out for a reason ?
same as here in Rayong Thailand.
Thanks Todd that was fun.
Another good vlog Todd. The traffic is the same here in Khon Kaen! You just hasve to inch your nose out otherwise you would be stuck for a fortnight! In Thailand, cars flash their lights if they are not stopping and are coming through. In UK, cars flash their lights to allow you to come out, i.e., they are stopping for you. Imagine the confudion I faced when I came here, (Thailand) 11 years ago. :-) Little Miss Mina, is such a confident little girl and a real help to you. She is so bright and becoming more bilingual every day. God Bless you all 😀❤🙏
It's the same in Aus Graeme, flicking your lights to let somebody know you're letting them in. Lao is the same as Thailand, flicking lights to tell people they're coming through makes no sense at all as they're already doing that. Why flick to tell them ya moving, (you're already doing that) flick to tell them you're stopping. Another one that bugs me is they enter a round about, then proceed to give way to the next car entering it and in so doing, bringing the whole round about to a halt!! 😝
I keep hearing different answers, so I hope you can provide some clarity. Can foreigners drive/ride motorcycles/scooters in Laos without a driving permit? What does one do when stopped at those traffic checks by the Laos military/cops?
Everybody by law in Laos is required to have a driving permit.. but that doesn't mean you can't get away with it. If you have a driver's licence in your own country, buy an international driver's permit before coming here (about $20). That will allow you to ride a motorcycle here legally. Note, incase of accident, you will not be covered by insurance if you don't have a motorcycle licence in your home country. Riding without a permit here? Be prepared to pay a small donation ( about 100,000 kip.. less than $5) to the police officer when stopped to be on your way. If you don't like paying a donation, take the fine, it's much more costly. 😉
If all your paperwork is in order.. permit, bike papers and your visa. The cop will let you go. I have NEVER been asked for a donation if I have these and done nothing wrong. Not having correct permit or paperwork is reason enough for fine in any country 👌
I do enjoy these types of videos. Speaking of dogs is your new dog ( I believe you named him Fred if memory serves me) still around? Great video.🙏👍
Cheers mate. Yes.. he's a very happy Blind Freddie now who hangs out on the front patio wagging his tail when he hears us coming 😁🐕
I laughed at how you sped up through that chip aisle like you were running from temptation. Lol.
On a side note, what in the hell was up with those hammer and sickle banners I saw hanging in that market?
Nice videos
ນ້ຳຕານ 😊
Merry Christmas to you Todd, Nenee & Minna and all your extended family, Cheers mate.
Thanks Mark, you too mate 🎄
What’s with all the Japanese and Chinese cars?
Do you know where S.E.Asia is?
Love the content, was there 2weeks ago yeah mate the traffic was so intimidating.
Thanks 👍
The loss of light seemed to happen pretty quickly. What time does it get dark there.?
Around 6pm at the moment
Much luck on all of your ways in any time
Finally found the meat bracelets down south at the boat races in 4000 islands. And the best sausages. Back in the US missing everything Lao. It’s great to watch you and Mina learning to speak each others language. She’s such a little smarty!
It was so awesome to finally meet you Laurie, and happy you had a wonderful time. Vacations are never long enough are they!? Till next time 👋🎄💚
❤👍👍👍🙏
Me and husband watch your videos on our tv.we are from USA.we link your vidoes😊😊😊
We like your videos sorry about my spelling.
Hi Dolly.. I was surprised by the amount of people who do watch my videos on a big screen. More than 50%. I had never even watched one of my own on tv until a subscriber told me he did. A whole different experience than on a phone! Hope you guys are well there and all the best for the festive season 🎄
You all and merry Christmas and happy new year
How often accident happens in this capital city? Seeing the traffics are crazy in some areas.
You tend to get more accidents on the weekend because so many people drink and drive drunk. Upto the end of November there have been 800 fatalities in 2023 in road accidents.
@@Murph945how long have you been living in Vientiane? Or are you just living there temporarily?
@@laoumienchannel9527 I have been coming to Lao since 2016, I got married in 2018 or 2019. I spent 21 months here during COVID, we bought some land and built a house been in it for about 18 months. I go back to UK for about 4 months a year and spend the rest of the time here in Vientiane. 👍🏻
The paths least travel bring the greatest rewards.. Thank you for bringing us all down some of those back roads.. seasons greetings to NeeNee, Mina and of course You🎉🍾🙏
Always like your vids Todd about your everyday life 👍👍
I totally understand about driving in Vietiane having done plenty of driving there myself and having a run in with the Law 🤣. Will be having another crack again in the not to distant future.
I had a run in yesty and coughed up a small donation 😝
Well be buggered did you put them under the wheels?@@NowinLao
@@pookeyhutchison7838 like you nearly did.. no 😝
Not having a go ol mate as you have to put the fear of god into them.😂 I still think about that everyday and tell at least one person a day .😅 Could have ended up in the cooler in downtown Vietiane on my second day in Lao.🤣🥵@@NowinLao
@@pookeyhutchison7838 Only you could do that Pook's.. not even in the country 2 hours and ya tryin to run over the law! Legend! 💪
thumbs up guys
g-day todd, neenee mina.
The roads are in good shape, no pot holes.
How can you be disappointed with less traffic Tod ? You need punishment of extra inconvenience? You been Asia too long ….. 🦘🫵🦘🥳🍍🍍🍍🍍
I was disappointed for you guys, not me lol 😝
