Hi and thanks for the nice comment and watching the vid ;) This footage was shot using a Sony camcorder, the FDR-AX53 specifically. It's a pretty nice little 4K camcorder with excellent optical image stabilization.
I wish they would bring back the helmets the Blue Angels wear (with the visor inside) for all Navy pilots. They are much cooler than the newer style helmets.
MacDill AFB Air Fest is scheduled for the 12th-13th May 2018. Miramar Airshow is scheduled for 29th-30th September 2018. I encourage you to check both Airshow websites for any potential schedule or performer changes!
G suits inflating can interfere with precise handling of the stick during maneuvers. Not such a big deal for operational flying, but a different story for aerial demonstrations.
The close formation stuff is extraordinary, the gentle spilt prior to the “twinkle rolls” is beautiful. Why do two of the formation have smoke on when the others don’t during the battle formation loop? Brilliant display, but let’s see you do it with 9 jets #RedArrows

Nope, no g-suits. The reasoning ... it would hinder their ability to finesse the controls during close proximity maneuvers. Instead they adopt a breathing technique in conjunction with squeezing their thighs and abdomen to keep the blood from heading south. Thanks for watching!
I don't know what it is with you Yanks but all this walking (can't call it marching) would get laughed off the airfield in the UK. Good flyers agreed but come on, walking as though they've got piles to their aircraft is pure theatre. Our Red Arrows guys don't fart around they just get in their Haws and fly. I don't know how these pilots keep a straight face.
I remember my dad taking us to El Toro MCAS TO see the Blue Angeles. It was the best time in my life. Thank you for the memories

during the 5 abreast loop why did 3 of the jets turn off smoke and turn on smoke at the same time while the other to kept theirs on continuous?
The 2016 team had issues with the abreast loop all season the 2016 team overall was the most sloppy team of the 2010s in my opinion
