Awesome bro!! Now Make a Helix+ Tonex pedal board connected in the Send/Return (Tonex as amp) on the chain .
Please do this!!
I finally got the Tonex One.
Using the ODR-01 on the HX Stomp is very processor intensive.
But Ge Tumnus into ODR-01 is the only game in town, lol.
I will use the Tonex for Amps and Cabs.
I will run it through the Effects Loop on the Stomp.
Now I can have numerous Reverbs and Delays with Modulation Pedals to get the sound I really want.
YAAAY.
Amazing he always gets such a GREAT SOUND no matter what he uses.
A little Baker's Street is always a good thing! I'm working on a hybrid board now with an FM3 and a couple of my favorite drives in front and a Strymon Cloudburst through the loop. Enjoy!
I'm working on putting together a tiny travel board that fits in the zipper pocket of my soft case. One of the problems I ran into is that some smaller power supplies only offer "up to" 120mA of current, which is exactly what the tonex one requires. However I've found that any fluctuation there would cause the pedal to power cycle in the middle of playing. I was able to solve this with a current doubler adapter that takes up two outputs instead of one on my power supply.... but my lesson learned here is that current draw specs for digital/modeler pedals is more of a hard requirement than for analog pedals, which often need less, but also still function (perhaps not perfectly) if the current draw is less than ideal.
I think you make some of the most useful videos experimenting with things people would actually do. Thank you!
Same here, I am building pedalboard based on the original ToneX. Since I sing I am including TC Helicon Harmony Singer (not guitar effect but guitar goes through to control harmonies):
Guitar => TC Helicon Harmony Singer => old Dunlop Vol/Wah => Revv Tilt overdrive and boost => ToneX => Eventide H9 => EHX Deluxe Memory Man 1100-TT | Analog Delay => Boss RC-10R | Rhythm Loop Station => to the mixing board
Notes:
a) EHX Deluxe Memory Man, it has gain knob, when set a little after noon a miracle happens, some kind of preamp it has this analog shin, beautiful adds something that feels like playing real amp.
b) Boss RC-10R it is a looper but I use for something else: it allows me to upload high quality wav files and play them so I uploaded some backing tracks and 7 min long drones in each key C, D, E, F, A, and B. This is very useful thing to add keyboards sounds...
Man John that is sounding pretty amazing.
Your own cooking show... I dig it.
Amp died at the gig a couple weeks ago, now I've got Tonex One + Suhr Eclipse in the loop of an HX Effects with a wah in front. Tonemaster FR10 onstage with XLR to the mixer. Only had one gig with this setup so far but it sounded great and load-in/out was much better, I'm looking forward to this weekend's gigs with it!
I just bought a second hand Tonex pedal a few weeks ago and built a pedal board around it. I have an HX Stomp for my drives and wet FX's and a Boss SY-200 that I got last year and haven't used until now. I also had a Wah pedal from years a go, so I stuck that on as well. I had been using a Helix floor since 2016 but I'm liking the new pedal board. I have an H9 but decided not to put that on the board.
ToneX (or full size) and HX Stomp are a great combo. If something goes wrong with the HX Stomp then you’re then covered for amp sim / reverb.
If you have two then you can use them as overdrive pedal captures into your HX Stomp, but have amp captures on it as backups (or whatever way round you want to do it). Personally I use the HX Stomp for overdrives and ToneX as amps
Are you using the tonex in the effects loop of the stomp?
@@joserodolfospin4756 I run it after the Stomp, but I realise that’s not ideal if you’re set on having wet effects after the ToneX. I was running a TC Plethora after both for a while (both as a midi controlled rig and as a manually controlled unit for delays, verbs and modulation).
Now I’m using the HX Stomp and Plethora (in that order) as a small board. I picked up a Quad Cortex recently and am very impressed with the workflow speed and captures. I was mostly using AmalgamAudio captures on the ToneX and was very happy with them, so have picked up their captures for the Quad Cortex too. Will post some clips at some point, hope that helps!
Regarding power, yes, I carry a backup or two. A spare battery and power converter, and a way to plug the board into a wall socket. As for backups for your rig, I would think that the Ampero II Stomp or Stage, or the HX Stomp would be a viable backup - you mostly won't use it anyway, so keep it simple and small.
Looking forward to tales from the gig with this board. Love the idea of the HX Stomp as effects, but also a safety net.
My home direct right rig is a Rat, H90 and ToneX and I love it. If I needed a backup for a gig I’d probably just get a POD express.
If you have a HX One then that runs of a 9v and you can then add some of your favourites from line 6. I run one on mine with the tonex one.
I use an AX8 live, matched outputs one feeding a Laney LFR 1x12 and other straight to desk. If the AX8 fails I have a hybrid board of similar gain/mod pedals with the Boss IR2 and output the same fashion. Used either or on a given night with great success but never had to swap on a night due to a failure. If the Laney fails it will just have to be direct until fixed another night.
i've built my TX1 board. JCM800 capture with an MXR overdrive and a Boss chorus. it's perfect!
Hi, where can I buy these presets for the Tonex One?
Was wondering if you have a solution for a Hi/Low pass filter with the ToneX? Was thinking that the ParaEQ deluxe would work?
The quickest backup is go straight to the amp - which means that it is advisable to practice with that tone and physical feeling. Is the tone you want in your hands?
Bonus points for the Rafferty...
How do people physically attach the Tonex One to the board? There's deep rubber on the back, and the backplate is keyed to the case, so the trick of reversing the backplate and adding Velcro won't work. A big zip tie across the middle then?
Hoping for a video that discusses tonex one and signal chain and DI to mic level for PA. I’m thinking guitar -> drives -> tonex one -> modulation fx -> DI -> PA
Was the h90 before or after the Tonex1?
ToneX + HX Stomp Cordy please!
Bleeker Street sax line! Nice.
Meris LVX for 9V delay, of course 🎉
Tonex and HX Stomp on the board, possibly with a drive pedal. Helix or FM9 in the car as backup.
NGNGS - New Gig New Gear Syndrome 🤣
I really love your explorations ❤
why not just use the HX FX with the ToneX?
Could you try toned one with the hx stomp ? Have tou tried to run the 2 amps on different presets , one clean and one distortion?
ToneX + Halo
I was thinking Halo when he was wondering about a Delay. It's such a great pedal.
can you share the presets? or what captures are you using for this tone?
How about a boss gt1 with a 2 way foot switch?
Lol semi fun
@johnnathancordy where's your weins? any chance of getting a video with them in again?
That Boss drive sounds much better and much less fizzy than your modeled drive tones. This is especially noticeable on your wound strings. Still, by far, the best clean and drive tones I've heard you get, were with the Fender amp and Zen Drive. Don't forget, it's all up to the muses, and they are not moved by simulations. Just saying . . . .
Muse ? 😂😂😂😬 as in you pretend to be a professional jazz musician
And take credit for music you had no hand in ?
Yikes 😟
