- Welcome to DON'T SCREAM. This is a horror game that uses your mic and if you scream, the game restarts over. You have to survive for 18 minutes in a forest filled with unimaginable terrors. Can we do it?

hey all - we are the two indie devs behind this game! thank you so much for the support! we have a lot planned for it and again, we truly appreciate your support and will listen to player feedback during early access. there are/will be some rough edges and bugs in early access, but we will do our best to iron them out. For context, here's what we plan on adding to the game:
• More and Dynamic Scares (we plan on having over 150 GOOD QUALITY scares!) - we will work on building that "pure tension" of horror!
• Expansion of Game Lore
• Optional Objectives
• Steam Achievements
• Steam Trading Cards
• Localization Support
• Full Controller Support
• New Landmarks and Structures in the Forest
• Game Optimization • Additional Settings Options
• And more
U guys did a great job 👏 looks really nice
um ok
You guys are so cool for this, I love seeing indie devs making their best use of this day and age’s technology. Will watch development with GREAT interest
Great job you guys can't wait to see what you come up with next?
insane game really great
The fact that this is photorealistic makes this so much scarier.
photorealistic by 1990s videotaping standards
got that Resi 7 kinda feel I love it
That’s unreal engine 5 for you
@@elmokelmuwell, it sells it better, going off of what we can see makes it harder, we can tell imperfections a lot more. the vhs cam and how its done makes it a lot more believable, take unrecorded for example
@@elmokelmu well.. the game is set in 1993
Can we just talk about that moment at 25:47 where he said “I feel like I’m being followed” and then the demon was like, “dammit!” And just walks past him casually?
🤣
😂
I could imagine a rendition of this idea where instead of trying not to scream from the horror, you try not to laugh from the funny.
Wait till this guy finds the try not to laugh challenge videos
try not to laugh but the laugh gets scared out of you and you DIE
That’s much harder to achieve😂
I dunno kinda was a try not to laugh already (sorry I know this looks like a brag, I just didn't think it was that scary)
Whoever is reading this, I wanted to say I hope you have a great day and that God loves you so much that He sent His son, Jesus, to die on a cross for your sins and He rose again from the dead three days later. God Bless!
And also, He doesn't want you to go to Hell, but He wants you to go to Heaven with Him but you have to be Saved. How do I get Saved you might ask? Here are the steps below on how to get Saved!
1. Believe that God sent His Son
(Jesus) to die on a cross for your sins and that He rose again from the dead 3 days later.
2. Confess to Jesus that you are a sinner and ask forgiveness for your sins and Turn away from your sins. If you sin again after asking forgiveness of that sin, ask forgiveness again and try not to do it ever again. Jesus will forgive you!
3. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and your life and for Him to be your Lord and Savior forever.
4. Build a Personal Relationship with Jesus by Praying and Reading the Bible daily and Live for Him Forever.
I'm Praying for you and you are loved

A horror game that turns gaming youtubers into asmr content creators. So relaxing
His voice literally sounds so soothing fr
except when the jumpscare came
So true. 😂
Man i love games that use your microphone, always a nice breath of fresh air with such a fun mechanic, and even better when Ryan is playing it!
Same, I also love the puppet combo style mixed with it too just perfect 👌
@@GodrickTheGrafted123facts
i always love watching youtubers like ryan playing it cuz god knows if i play any of these im not gonna make a noise
Just make sure that breath isn't a loud one
>:) heh heh a bad pun
what if u dont have a mic?
He’s so lucky he didn’t get jump scared by that one jumpscare that we all know and love, the plain one where you turn around and she runs at you
fr though, but Daz did 💀
Ryan has the casual lumberjack fit for this video, let me just appreciate that.
He is going to shit himself violently
The jumpscare at 15:40 hit me so hard that I flinched enough to make my back hurt.
I have MAD respect for you Ryan for completing the game and i have MAD respect for the devs for creating probably one of the most scariest games i have ever seen. This game is scary beyond imagination to the point i was hiding my face with my whole arm just from watching, imagine how would you feel if you actually play it. The atmosphere, the sounds and the realism are just outstanding
I made it through this playthrough without screaming once, and i didn't cover my eyes with anything. It was really damn hard, especially with those things that looked like a sweethome zombie. I'm kinda proud of myself for not screaming.
@@Envixity-ph3nbDoubt.
Lol ManlyBadassHero made it through very easy. I don’t know what he did but he just wandered off into the forest and it was just scare after scare so it got old really fast. Became a walking simulator after a few minutes
@@gochi6542to be fair I don’t think I’ve seen manly get scared regularly
25:47 the timing was perfect when ryan said he was getting followed
This game has SO many cheap jumpscares, but the ambience and quality really make up for that a LOT. One of the scariest atmospheres I have EVER seen.
to me the cheap jumpscares actually add to the gameplay. they make it harder to not scream, and since there's no obvious trigger for them, there's no way of preparing yourself for the next one.
And the “don’t scream” aspect can actually be related to a movie experiment in which two groups watched the same movie. Group 1 was allowed to laugh, cry, and express any emotion they had in the theatre. Group 2 was only allowed a straight face. Group 2 ended up having a worse time than group 1.
Yeah I totally agree. The game atmosphere looks pretty cool. I would love to see it done in some other games.
you r an easy public, all the screamcare look so cringe there is NOTHING scary in this, you all are nice actors @@love--dive
@@murasaki3067 it's not about whether i found the game scary or not. to me, it wasn't really different to any other free-roam horror game other than the repeated jumpscares and the "don't scream" gimmick. my comment was about how the jumpscares make it harder not to scream/gasp.
What I like about this game is the concept and how it stands out from all the other games that have been coming out these days.
My only complaint alongside others is replayability and game time. Once you play it a couple of times you know the places of scares and the run time isn't helping the case either.
Otherwise though this game is such a breath of fresh air and I loved it when I played it
Reminds be of silence i believe is the name of thhe game
This game is AMAZING
@@floppy8993 in silence but yeah oh and they theres 150 different scares theres alot of replqybilry for this one
There is alot of replayability 150 different scares and more being added
Oh yeah that game I remember that, it was polished in terms of Replayability and that's what made it enjoyable imo. I'm not saying this one isn't but it lacks that replayability @@floppy8993
0:01 thank god ryan is still using the term "twitter" that made me happy
Imagine this game but a multiplayer version of it with Ryan and his friends, and if one of them makes a loud noise they all reset that would be hilarious
That eye roll he does, when he gets hit with the ball, is my favorite part of this whole thing. The level of annoyance and sass with that is something you rarely see with ryan.
26:53 Ryan's reaction was funny 😂
25:48 the timing could not have been more perfect
I’ve sever seen Ryan so quiet for such a long time before, it’s kinda weird
so soothing..
@@zaloppeno I agree
18:44 the "huh?" scared me😂
8 bit Ryan being scardly calm is halirious
I feel like if you really wanna do a jumpscare heavy game this is a good way to do it because there's actually a reason for the jumpscares. Like there's sorta consequences for reacting to them and that's the whole premise. It's really cool! Rather than just throwing them in for the sake of getting a cheap scare
21:34 the talk about nature being wild. Cordyceps are actually making news now. To where a man made his own fungus out of his own skin cells to someone surviving having cordyceps in their throat.
Nature is beautiful and scary all at the same time.
19:20 my guy looked so damn fed up 😭😭
For some people who think that it's cheating to lower the mic for your voice (especially when the game is called Don't Scream), I encourage you to play for yourself first. Ryan may have reduced it afew times for his comfortability.
That's the way it is.
I actually like the fact that he still talks throughout the game because it gives me a sense of comfort.
The funniest part of this whole video was Ryan complaining about how sensitive the microphone was and proceeding to lower its threshold to try to make it less sensitive.
I've been watching you for years man, it's been awesome, and thank you for all the good times. Good Vibes Ryan
This is definitely the most scariest game I have seen in a long time
Wow. I’ve never seen a horror game being influenced by how much you talk / scream. That’s actually super cool and innovative. Props to the devs 👏
there’s definitely some out there or at least us the mic in certain situations rather than every second
@@shanman3fear to fathom
not too innovative, ive seen many horror games that use your microphone at all times too (but it uses your microphone making you run the risk of dying. not that you die if you scream.)
Backrooms 98 has a microphone feature
@@flimsyo You must be into some obscure ass horror games cause judging by the comments, you're the only one who's heard of another horror game that used the mic like this one. I'm guessing the other games were only on Itch or some old flash game.
The pick up on the mic definitely seems insane for this game. I watched IGP play this the other day and just him taking a sharp breath caused him to game over.
Edit: In terms of how much you explored if you see this Ryan, You definitely found a lot more content than IGP did. I think in the beginning of his video he talked about how much of it was randomly generated. I can't remember if the map itself had some amount of random generation but if there is than you definitely got lucky and I would assume finding everything would probably take at least a couple different playthroughs. If the map isn't randomly generated then I'm sure someone will upload a map with all the points of interest before long.
Man, with how realistic the graphics were and how hard it was already for Ryan to keep from screaming the whole time, can you just imagine how much more terrifying this would've been in VR? Guess a lot of people are lucky it wasn't lol
The fact Ryan was shaking, rocking back and forth is crazy 😂
I can feel Ryan's intracranial pressure going up from where I'm sitting.
Ryan does it again! The thrill, the scares, the intense moments I love it!!! Thank you so much for sharing this piece of art with us! ❤
25:50 "I feel like I'm being followed" entity immediately comes out from behind him omg
26:53 bro was like: RAHHHHHHHH, if you don't know i meant the white guy trying to make ryan scream
I literally felt so bad for Ryan every time he got jumpscared and started shaking
Love just grabbing a soda, snack and sitting down to watch Ryan when he uploads
15:44 ryan buddy im right there with you my man
Holy smokes, well done!! This game is super super creepy; the sound design and level/set/map design are SUPER well done! Very unsettling. I think it'd be really cool if you did another playthrough or two of this game, exploring some of the other spots and finding new locations.
man it's nice to finally see ryan do a playthrough that's a bit less talking. it's nice when the horror element get's silence long enough actually make me bounce as well.
13:14 it's like Ryan just bumped into a person standing in the woods and it's hilarious
What a game! This really is such a unique and interesting game! The setting, mystery and lack of background information really sparks us to imagine what a terrifying world there COULD be out there. The darkness adds to it even more. The game developers are so smart to effectively test and show how the human brain always tries to fill in gaps of any unknown thing or information. Every scary area and jumpscare ends in no danger but we as humans expect something much worse which causes us to SCREAM!
Just what a beautiful game!
This game is incredible. Seeing Ryan struggle to not only stay quiet, but also breathe?
I gotta check this out lmao
All these indie horror games these days are getting better and better 👀 loved the video.
31:10 WTF WERE THEY NARUTO RUNNING?! 😂
22:17 I don't know why but the vending machine got me thinking, can you imagine if the forest ghost demon thingy jumpscared you with a commercial slogan? Like ".....NO ONE LAYS A FINGER ON MY BUTTERFINGER!!!"
XD, imagine just it screaming "WE HAVE THE MEATS!"
Ryan always helps me calm down when i get into painful arguments, thanks ryan for helping me and hundreds of others keep up the great work dude.
This is how you do the microphone sound concept the right way.
the house Ryan's in a 18:50 reminds me of a haunted house explored by ghosts explorers, the house format is similar, he part where he went up he stairs
Another banger from Ryan as usual
at 19:21 when the ghost just wants someone to play soccer with
Been watching your vids since the beginning keep up the good work Ryan love ya
I’m listening to Ryan like he’s doing asmr lol
I love this so much it just brings me back to you or other popular TH-camrs like Markiplier and JackScepticEye playing games that just take place in a forest and the monster is really fast and deadly idk it feels nostalgic
LETS GOOOOO, This game is so amazing, it’s gonna be so interesting on how different people react
You know this could be great as well with stream compatibility where viewers can trigger scares.
27:56 i'd probably have screamed like that too if i was trying to scare someone in the woods and stubbed my toe against a fallen log
This is the most quite ryan I've ever seen 😂 this entertains me more his reaction to hold the scream is just 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
26:52 lol I didn't even get scared because I saw how Ryan reacted lol
You saved me on that one!
This feels so much like Blair Witch footage. So creepy! Well played Ryan, you champ.
The fact that I'm so scared and uncomfortable watching this makes me unable to imagine what it's like for Ryan playing it.
Ryan's voice makes this relaxing, but knowing that this is a horror game keep hitting me back to reality.

So funny how, Ryan’s character suddenly dying scared him more than the Black Box.
This one of the best 8bit ryan horror videos in a while 🔥
I saw THE MOST in your video than all the others i watched...the cemetary, the shadow ppl, everything that ran past you from behind, the flying ppl, the spinning lady, THE BOAT!
It really was awesome....
I would love to see someone wander the whole map for like 3 times....cause this game looks so cool to just wander thro.
Its interesting how sometimes jump-scares happen for other ppl and not you, and thats cool, cause it changes it up....
Anyway, great job!❤
This would be TERRIFYING in VR.
idk about anyone else, but I absolutely LOVE Ryan’s gentle voice. I would love to see more videos like this in the future.

This is funny because Ryan’s commentary is one of the best things about his videos, so him having to talk quietly and reduce the talking is hard for him to do 😂

the idea for this is sooo unique and cool but I kind of wish instead of you screaming just ending it theres actually some unkillable/almost unavoidable enemy that spawns in and starts chasing you
No that would not be fun I like it like this It tests people to see if they scream or not
Then there would be no point of this game existing.
Of course we want more of thisssssssss

*Once upon a time in a quiet suburban neighborhood, there lived a young man named Ryan, known in the gaming world as "8-bit Ryan." He had earned his nickname for being one of the best gamers in existence. His life revolved around pixels, virtual adventures, and the thrill of conquering challenging games. His room was a treasure trove of gaming memorabilia, with posters of iconic characters adorning the walls and a powerful gaming PC taking center stage on his desk. One gloomy Saturday afternoon, with rain pattering against his window, Ryan decided to dive into a new gaming experience. He had recently acquired a mysterious gaming PC from a garage sale hosted by an enigmatic old man in his neighborhood. The moment he had laid eyes on the peculiar computer, he felt an odd sensation, as if someone was watching him from afar. However, he brushed aside those eerie feelings, attributing them to his overactive imagination. Sitting down in his gaming chair, Ryan fired up the unusual PC, eagerly anticipating a thrilling new adventure. As the screen came to life, it emitted an eerie, flickering light, casting a shadowy, unsettling atmosphere in his room. His jaw dropped, and his heart raced as he began to remember the strange atmosphere of that garage sale. The old man had been intensely watching him as he picked up the PC, and his piercing eyes had sent shivers down his spine. Before Ryan could ponder further, his hands inexplicably started to pixelate. Panic surged through him as he let out a blood-curdling shriek of astonishment. It was as though his body was disintegrating into a sea of digital fragments. Desperation engulfed him, but he couldn't stop it. In an instant, he was pulled into the flickering abyss of the PC, which then shut off abruptly. Suddenly, Ryan found himself in a world unlike any other. He stood in a realm that resembled the backrooms, a place of liminal spaces and eerie transitions. The surroundings were filled with muted colors, and the landscapes were surreal, as if he had been transported into a digital nightmare. A sign in the distance read "Backrooms: Level 999," and he realized with terror that he had become trapped in this eerie, endless maze. This was not a game, but a nightmare incarnate. Ryan's heart pounded as he navigated through endless hallways, each one indistinguishable from the last. The walls seemed to pulse with a sickly green light, casting eerie shadows that played tricks on his mind. As he ventured deeper into the backrooms, the sense of isolation and dread grew with every step. He couldn't help but think of the old man from the garage sale. Had he known the true nature of the PC he had sold to Ryan? Was this some kind of twisted prank, or had he stumbled upon a malevolent force beyond his comprehension? With each passing moment, Ryan's hope dwindled. He had no weapons, no allies, and no clear path to escape. Every corner he turned, every door he opened, only led to more of the same endless, monotonous corridors. And then, in the darkest depths of the backrooms, he encountered it - the entity itself. It was a monstrous, shifting mass of shadows and glitched pixels, a grotesque amalgamation of all his fears and nightmares. The entity seemed to feed on his terror, growing larger and more menacing with every passing second. In a moment of sheer desperation, Ryan did the only thing he could think of - he faced the entity head-on. With a shout of defiance, he charged towards the eldritch horror, his determination outweighing his fear. The entity recoiled, as if surprised by his audacity. The battle that ensued was unlike anything Ryan had ever experienced. It was a battle of wills, a test of his courage and resolve. He dodged glitched projectiles, outmaneuvered the entity's shifting forms, and fought back with every ounce of strength in his pixelated body. As the battle raged on, Ryan felt a strange connection with the entity. It was as if he could see into its very core, its vulnerability hidden beneath the glitches and darkness. With one final, decisive strike, he struck at the heart of the entity, causing it to unravel and dissolve into a cascade of digital fragments. The backrooms around him began to glitch and distort, and the flickering light grew more intense. With one final surge of energy, Ryan was sucked out of the backrooms and back into reality. He lay on the floor of his room, panting and covered in sweat. The peculiar gaming PC sat before him, its screen dark. With a trembling hand, he powered off the computer and unplugged it. He had returned from a digital nightmare, and the old man's mysterious PC was finally silent. From that day on, 8-bit Ryan's gaming experiences took on a whole new level of intensity. He had lived to tell the tale of his harrowing adventure in the backrooms, a story he would never forget. As he continued to play, he couldn't help but wonder about the enigmatic old man and the origins of that haunted gaming PC. One thing was for sure - he had a newfound respect for the power of pixels and the games that had once been his escape, now a thrilling, high-stakes reality. And as for the old man, Ryan couldn't shake the feeling that he had encountered a force far beyond the realm of ordinary gaming - a force that had tested his skills, his courage, and his very existence* .
