I love how the line “Your bones break like a woman’s” just serves to imply even more fucked up shit about Fowler. Not only that, but he claims that he’s not even the worst of the 4 men she seeks. Brilliant dialogue and a brilliant setup for the next season.

talking in consideration how much the show focus on her blue eyes, her father is probably the "blue eye" guy that Fowler mentions. my guess is that we will we have something like. Mizu go to London in season 2 and manage to kill the "Tall" guy, but the "blue eyes" guy is not there, probable he go to Japan for some reason, maybe to try to star a new trading and Mizu will come back to Japan after him
The whole series was amazing! But.. last episode felt weak. Mizu ran through hundreds like a hot knife through butter, but felt like she lost that fire this episode. Plus, Fowler just seemed to keep sparing them weirdly? Like I get the need of it for plot but feel like it could’ve been done in a much more entertaining way. Also how the shogun and his people (including Taigen with his drawn sword) just stood and watched in that final room?? And just waited to be shot one by one? Weak or way rushed compared to how amazing all the other episodes were
Fowler was tryna flee from mizu and focus on conquering a nation. He kept underestimating her and didn’t realize what threat she was until it was too late. Plus the shogun and samurais had never seen a gun before. Trust me, even you would freeze like some unintelligent, unevolved ape if someone came at you with a gun and all you had was a blade. They came to their senses and realized they weren’t going to win that battle.
My best guess is that Fowler felt that he had to go and make sure his army wasn't in retreat and that his plan was still working given how quickly his attempted massacre of Japan's leaders fell apart.

What happened to his sword it disappears mid way through the fight I like to think he dropped it in a panic because of the fire and this mad man chasing him that is burning down a building to get to him but it’s very abrupt and just seems like a plot convenience, did I miss something?
Mizu is a she. They only refer to her as he because she disguised herself as a man the whole series. She didn’t have time to look for her sword in the midst of that flaming battle and was too focused on Fowler.

I know the story because we all want to know the background here. But the vulnerability of slicing open the Achilles tendons instead of putting the blade into his foot easily would have stopped this vulgar beast in His Tracks.
He literally said "your bones break like a woman's." Keep in mind, given what we know about Fowler, he's probably speaking from experience. It's not unlikely that he's actually physically crushed the bones of both men and women so many times that he can tell the difference by how they sound.
I doubt he'd be better then all of them, but he mentions in the second episode that he's spent the previous 10 years stuck on a single island where he was regularly left with nothing to do. He spent that time mastering a great many Japanese arts, including painting, ceramics, and calligraphy. He mentions hating those three specifically, but it's easy to imagine a man like Fowler choosing to practice Japanese sword-fighting first not just because it's a skill that he can actually put to use but something he actually enjoys practicing.

Why avoid something that was never considered? It was planned from the beginning she would be mixed, let alone she got messed up alot in the series. And if anything, she has her own unique style of fighting that is mixed with other styles, while a lot of her other enemies have one focus.

Fowler is the main villain of the season, and has to be established as a credible threat to the heroine personally in order for their physical confrontation to have dramatic stakes. In neither case is their skill attributed to their European heritage. Fowler's characterization is that of a sophisticated brute. He has ox-like strength likely owed to his rough upbringing, but also a mind clever enough to grasp subtler arts, even if he personally despises them. The reason for his strength is justified not just narratively, but within the context of the story itself. Mizu is that of a revenge-filled Inigo Montoya bundled with a side of mixed-race identity issues. Her heritage is always focused on as a source of shame, not strength. On a side note, it's not realistic for a woman to be able to physiologically compete with men as she does, but the story was never *trying* to be realistic (especially in historical terms, given that samurai were avid users of guns while campaigning in Korea just thirty years earlier). If you want tension, then you want your villains to be capable. If you want admirable heroes, you give them skills to match. Making a foreign character stronger than most of the native characters is not an implicit commentary on which nationality is "stronger". When Mr. Miyagi walks all over American men half his age, does this demonstrate some latent Okinawan supremacism among the writers? Or is it to establish the credibility of his teaching, so the protagonist's own skills are substantiated?

I hate to break it to you but the majority of this show is spent condemning white people as evil. Mizu is not trying to kill him because he's evil, it is purely because he is white. Mizu's disregard for human life is blamed on her white side. Mizu wants her father dead not because he had her hunted but because he was white. Not once is this presented as a bad thing and all four white people mentioned are unquestionably evil. If you legitimately think for a second that this show even considered a white savior than it's clear you didn't watch it.
This last scene made me wonder. Fowler was about to kill Mizu, until he hold back a little, once he realised it was the girl he knew a long time ago. But what bothers me more, is that Fowler is not a loser or an idiot. His plan to take over Japan did not succéed, but he could still do other stuff in Britain, like killing the people he personally hates. Fowler has the plan to bring a killing machine to England, in order to kill a lot of people. Or maybe he is in her mercy, I don't know!
I thought the same. The fact that he is giving info on the other two as well as a location indicates to me that he wants his partners dead. And next, with his return to London, he will have more freedom than he did in Japan. Reconnecting with old partners and perhaps even taking power from his former partners, elevating himself in the trade business, and having a greater force to take Japan than he did previously.

In most fight scenes, Mizu usually dominates without question! Mizu makes it through challenging situations like traps, and drugged hallucinations, that probably NO other character would survive. Sooo, how does Fowler prove to be a difficult fight each time???
Couple reasons 1. He's a big dude. People tend to forget Japanese people are typically much smaller and have less muscle than Westerners. 2. Fowler is clearly an experienced fighter, having survived both in I believe Ireland during the Famine and later on in Japan 3. Time, Fowler made it clear he'd been forced to live in that massive castle island for many years to where he admits to having mastered multiple forms of art including Caligraphy and Japanese painting. He also spent that time practicing Japanese Swordsmanship and combat in general. THe fact the guy was able to master difficult tasks like art and caligraphy, which he admitted to hating, indicates he likely master swordfighting, something he loves very quickly and perfected it. Combine all that together and it makes for a lethal man.

I love how this whole fight just cements what he has been saying. He *really* didn't want to spend time on Mizu. He's a man who knows he has more important things to do. Several times he had the upper hand in this fight and his first reaction is to try and escape. He's not incapable of fighting at all. In fact he's quite deadly. But each opening has him trying to get out, even going through a wall of flames to do so. This man has priorities.
I think he’s afraid of fire and Mizu disturbingly maddening obsessive of vengeance, he did mentioned he lived in misery due to the Tudor invasion of Ireland and they burned down O’Neill clan land where he lived when the clan refused to surrender, not to mention in all of Fowler sadism and cruelty when he realized when there’s someone so insane and so obsessive towards vengeance, and willingly to do anything with nothing to lose enough that they willing to burn down the whole city and it inhabitants just to get him that bring a chill down his spine he either had to cunningly trick her or he could use her brutality for his personal revenge back in England.
He is probably trying to get to his hundreds of men with guns so they can just shoot the person chasing him, rather than risk her actually killing him.
Love how Fowler figured out Mizu's big secret not through clever deduction or some Mulan-style reveal, but because he attempted to crush her bones in a bear hug and thought they broke too easily. Just goes to show the level of Fowler's violent degeneracy, how he's crushed so many women in his arms that he can instantly know and recognize the feeling.

You can read about it but basically apparently a priest was burning a "cursed" kimono and a gust of wind blew the flames and set the wooden temple on fire. In real life it destroyed 60%-70% of the city and this is because of the material of the buildings, lack of space between them and they were very dry because of a drought.
Fowler just punches Mizu despite having a sword. He could have finished her. It was more dramatic and maybe in character but it’s the second or third time that trick was used. ( The Giant in the mansion etc) I really hope the writers will find other ideas in season 2. This + Fowler running away despite having the upper hand result a kinda weird fight.

Not because it's her mom who was the Westerner. Blue Eyes are Recessive and People pointed out it would be Impossible for Mizu to have it from his Western Father...unless it was her Mother that was the Western. Add in the fact those 4 men are human traffickers and it's possible.
He's somewhat afraid of Mizu. It why he runs away at first to let his guards finish her off. She's the only person obsessed enough with vengeance to actually get up to the top floor of his castle. She's the only person who's actually been able to hurt him during his time in Japan. She absolutely refuses to die, and it's enough to where even Fowler is a bit unnerved by her drive for revenge. Also, this is not an anime, it's a Western animated show set in Japan inspired by Kurosawa films and possibly Kill Bill (also Logan, a bit).

They have the same hunger for power and Fowler does have a high resemblance to him, in the scene where he's approaching the castle with his army I literally saw Ganondorf. This being said I think Fowler is a far superior character and since I love Ganondorf I just thought it would have been cool if he was characterized as good as Fowler was

Couple reasons
1. He's a big dude. People tend to forget Japanese people are typically much smaller and have less muscle than Westerners.
2. Fowler is clearly an experienced fighter, having survived both in I believe Ireland during the Famine and later on in Japan
3. Time, Fowler made it clear he'd been forced to live in that massive castle island for many years to where he admits to having mastered multiple forms of art including Caligraphy and Japanese painting. He also spent that time practicing Japanese Swordsmanship and combat in general.
THe fact the guy was able to master difficult tasks like art and caligraphy, which he admitted to hating, indicates he likely master swordfighting, something he loves very quickly and perfected it.
Combine all that together and it makes for a lethal man.

because the story show us again and again that Fowler is a genius, in 10 years he master every japanese art from painting to swordfighting, Mizu herself mention he is a master of the sword, Fowler mention he is not some fat spoiler rich guy, he is old, but he fight his way to the top, he is huge and strong like a bull. he is smart and resourceful, there also the small possibility he is her father so part of her natural talent come from him
@@g8strong2 he probably couldn't but in the fight atop his castle she was already super worn down and injured while he was fresh. even in this fight she was in better condition than usual but is somehow always injured going into these big fights

I love how this whole fight just cements what he has been saying. He *really* didn't want to spend time on Mizu. He's a man who knows he has more important things to do. Several times he had the upper hand in this fight and his first reaction is to try and escape. He's not incapable of fighting at all. In fact he's quite deadly. But each opening has him trying to get out, even going through a wall of flames to do so.
This man has priorities.
Why does he keep escaping after he already won the duel and had them on the ground? WTF!?!

I think he’s afraid of fire and Mizu disturbingly maddening obsessive of vengeance, he did mentioned he lived in misery due to the Tudor invasion of Ireland and they burned down O’Neill clan land where he lived when the clan refused to surrender, not to mention in all of Fowler sadism and cruelty when he realized when there’s someone so insane and so obsessive towards vengeance, and willingly to do anything with nothing to lose enough that they willing to burn down the whole city and it inhabitants just to get him that bring a chill down his spine he either had to cunningly trick her or he could use her brutality for his personal revenge back in England.
He is probably trying to get to his hundreds of men with guns so they can just shoot the person chasing him, rather than risk her actually killing him.

Love how Fowler figured out Mizu's big secret not through clever deduction or some Mulan-style reveal, but because he attempted to crush her bones in a bear hug and thought they broke too easily. Just goes to show the level of Fowler's violent degeneracy, how he's crushed so many women in his arms that he can instantly know and recognize the feeling.

You can read about it but basically apparently a priest was burning a "cursed" kimono and a gust of wind blew the flames and set the wooden temple on fire. In real life it destroyed 60%-70% of the city and this is because of the material of the buildings, lack of space between them and they were very dry because of a drought.
Fowler just punches Mizu despite having a sword. He could have finished her. It was more dramatic and maybe in character but it’s the second or third time that trick was used. ( The Giant in the mansion etc)
I really hope the writers will find other ideas in season 2. This + Fowler running away despite having the upper hand result a kinda weird fight.

This was a really poorly executed fight scene. He HAD THEM BOTH, and....he ran away. Why? Plot Armor, that's why.
Obviously he ran away cause he was stabbed in the foot and didn’t want to risk death while he’s on the verge of conquering an entire nation, so he decided to try escaping. He knows Mizu is capable of killing him so he decides to flee instead of following up on his attack.

listen man, I gave up all hope for realism at episode one when she stuck her fingers in some guys jaw and didn't get them bitten off.
He's somewhat afraid of Mizu. It why he runs away at first to let his guards finish her off. She's the only person obsessed enough with vengeance to actually get up to the top floor of his castle. She's the only person who's actually been able to hurt him during his time in Japan. She absolutely refuses to die, and it's enough to where even Fowler is a bit unnerved by her drive for revenge. Also, this is not an anime, it's a Western animated show set in Japan inspired by Kurosawa films and possibly Kill Bill (also Logan, a bit).
Taigen is always getting beat up. ALWAYS. How the hell he is one of the best samurai?
Like Daredevil or the punisher or even spiderman, just gets back up no matter what. And it just requires a lot of skill or might to beat him

They both lazy at finishing each other. But at the same time, need another to kill the other 2 guys. Fowler has other plans, that's who he is.

The show is inconsistent as hell thats why, Mizu can cut through 40 warriors no problem and even beat that big tough guy with the club in the castle, but she can't defeat a fat white man? Either be consistent and give Mizu supernatural powers or basically make her the most powerful samurai in Japan, which at that point she would be a Mary Sue. I mean she is already a Mary sue, but if she defeats everyone then the show will get boring right? Lmao
If she was the most powerful Samurai, she wouldn't have nearly died 4 times, getting wounded worser each time.
She also began to embrace fighting on someone's own terms, WITHOUT her sword. Idk how that is a Mary Sue to you, she even worked with Taigen to help take down Fowler.
