Every team fears India's pace bowling attack at home and away. Virat is a legend as a Indian Test captain and also it was Dhoni who knew Virat was the right man to lead India in Tests when the world saw how Indian team approached the test vs Australia in Kohli's captaincy debut. Yes, India lost but India gave a tough fight. Dhoni gracefully retired and handed the reins to Kohli and rest is history for Indian Cricket.

Agreed we never won ICC trophies but the aggression and passion he brought in the test format, no one did it before. I would put him number one all time Indian test captain. It’s very unfortunate we never won ICC trophy under him but that doesn’t take anything away from him being one of the greatest captain of Indian cricket history. And I believe it’s good decision of him leaving captaincy. Because now his own performance is getting better. Rohit lost a home world cup after rigging the pitch( I don't mind rigging the pitch but jeet to jao lmao) in Ahmadabad NM stadium in front of 130K people. And up until the final everyone said Rohit kills the game in the powerplay and VK plays slow and selfish innings. And in final they realised how important was kohli's wicket, wanted him to stay till last over. The pitch was horrible horrible. In 2019 semi final Kohli conceded only 238 runs against NZ and batters including Rohit shitted in their pants not to forget Kohli got out on an Umpires call. So it means VK captained better in 2019 sf than Rohit in 2023 final and the world cup was in England. Sometimes I feel its all karma of what he has been through. He has won everything an ODI WC, Asia cups (t20I and Odi) champions trophy 2013 ,test maces, 3POTT trophies. only t20IWC and he will complete the cricket.

Reason he was forced to leave became an issue which was not the case in MSD to Virat's captaincy transition. And reality is , MS used to be too much strict on his decision and everyone has to follow, from management to selectors even Virat had that to some extent but after Virat left ,that sting operation of a BCCI officials where he said Virat have been forced by BCCI officials like Sourav Ganguly to leave the captaincy. And that never happened before, even at Ms captaincy period, sting operation were more common, still Nothing came out.

I guess we need to have someone who can advise the captain and create a strategy. The current team management is mediocre.
If he was heavily dependent on dhoni then it means dhoni doesn't take good decisions and also dhoni doesn't see any spark in kohli.

It was never about Kohli aur Rohit as a Captain.
It was always about the senior players not stepping up (including Virat and RS) when it was needed the most.
We won in 2007, 2011 and 2013 bcoz on the Final day the seniors stepped up, took charge and took the team home.
To be honest, it was totally unfair to take away the captaincy from the most deserving captain. Trophies aren't everything something you need to acknowledge people's point of view and his effort and his unwavering dedication.

Talking about 2021, what he could if team didn't perform well, moreover the matches were mostly toss decided and he lost 2 tosses in 2 important matches. His captaincy was on point in later end of his career especially in tests.

Its quite easy to fans to say it by seeing the icc trophies...but the domination of India in world cricket in his and shastri era was unmatchabale especially in test format the amountbof respect that India is receiving today for its test accomplishment is very huge and he is the main reason. Then dhoni stepped down and in pune we were 63-5 he and jadhav took match single handedly from england he was now full time captain. Then test series and then Champions trophy that final was not written in our favour but we performed well. Everybody failed in final. 2018 we went to England like that series was like unimaginable. There were booes, "wheres your kohli gone" literally I was like how we gonna win away matches like from 2011 except WI we have not won a series away. He walked on to the pitch when India was in bad position scored 149 and celeberated the famous Roar. Wow I was lucky that I have watched that match live. Then score almost 540 runs in series 200 more than englands top run scorer😂. Then we went to south africa. 😂😂 558 runs in odi series. The statsmen were so busy in that series. He scored 160 runs in an odi with 100runs by only running (1s,2s &3s) I am like what the hell this is we won first odi series in SA. IN test series after scoring a hundred in test while celebrating he ran fir the second run when he got chance😂 i am like jeez what the guy is doing just chill out man. But he was doing his duty as he say he gives 120% on field. Respect. No hat to anyone but all other guys just played 1 or maximum 2 good knocks in a series thogh its rohit, kl, ajinkya. Shikhar used to pkay handy knocks in most of the matches. MS performed well only in odi series. Then odi wc came almost every match he scored 50. Every other Rohit fan will compare him with 5 hundreds but will never say about 765 runs. No hate to him he is a brilliant captain undoubtedly. Best than virat. But virat was not bad he was par but his approach was different. Today I always think when virat used to abuse everybody was like cricket is gentlemans game he is to unprofessional. But when rohit abuses people are like oh captain my captain people find this funny. The famous 2021 test series they felt hell for 60 overs. In aus series he took paternal leave most of the people criticized him. Then the rough patch came. The world saw Virat asking for gods help........ . The only 'DAAG' he has on his captaincy was the defeat against pakistan. And 😂😂 he was the top scorer in that match toooo. No one performed. He stepped down and gave shock to the true Indian cricket fans. This was the era that ended with such tragic controversies. But this man is built different.
