Thanks for giving us a walk through The Pecanland Mall.I havent been down there since I was a little kid .But It stll looks the same .As it did when I use to go there back in the day.
There’s a good chance I was actually there the day this was recorded, I went to the mall quite a bit around this time in 2018, September thru December I was always at the mall
In the 80's it was Tape World, Sound Shop, and Record Bar. Then Record Bar moved to center court and changed it's name to Tracks (which was a bigger store and ditched LPs for CD's). Sound Shop also swapped spots in early 90's for what seemed like a smaller store closer to the food court. Then Tracks became Blockbuster Music. And later I think all that was left was FYE. There was also a Suncoast in the mall in the 90's where you could find all kinds of movies. They also sold Laserdiscs.
A lot of changes since it first opened. If you see the 1992 video compared to this one, there are hardly any people. A lot of people would go there to walk and have lunch. Really sad to see a nice place just go down like it has.
One big difference between this and the '92 video. Some of the businesses consolidated the other store spots so they would have one large place. That's the case with Forever 21 and Dick's. Forever 21 use to be El Chico, that coffee place, and maybe 1-2 other places and Dick's use to be Walden's Books, Hibbett Sports (though it came after Walden's Books closed), the Shoe Depot, KB Toys, and that gift shop or whatever it was next to Dillard's. Another difference: This video was filmed at night and the other was filmed during the daytime. Btw, has the mall changed much since this video? I was at the mall 6 months before this was uploaded and I haven't been able to go back since. I know Tilt came back, the carousel is gone, and Cinemark just closed, but idk what else has changed in the last 5+ yrs.
@JESUS SAVED MY SOUL was the best place from outside dallas to Florida in terms of mall experience in the late 80's through about 1995 or so. People from all over frequented it and met many working there back in the day. Was truly a place to make memories back then.

Why was this recommended to me while I am working here?

I was there 6 months before this was recorded. I haven't been back since because of personal circumstances.
What were the Record/CD stores in the 90's? I can't remember anything other than Tape World
