You forgot to mention that both sides had killers. The Union had Battle Cry of Freedom, so had Dixie. Dixie had Dixieland, and the Union had Union Dixie.
I agree and theory-Republicans love Dixie because it recognizes one of their best if not greatest victory over democrats. White democrats hate it because they are still mad about losing their slaves.

The thing that’s so interesting about the American Civil War is that both sides had good points. State’s Rights are valid, and the Federal victory should not change that truth. However, slavery is kind of bad, to put it mildly.
