Hey! On my own tests the speed differences were based on intensity. Each light didn't differ that much in speed, except when I increased the intensity. Overall I'd suggest using the Rectangle light method. It has more control and is better looking😀👍🏽.
I used the push pull tool, if you use it once, the next time you can just double click the face and the previous push/pull measurement made woul be repeated on that face

I simply apply a emissive material in that gap and tweak with the intensity
