It's not a surprise. At the begining, the game was supposed to be a fresh wind after some mediocre games. But the developpement had some huge organisation problems and the whole thing had to be rushed months before the release date (I guess the amount of content they planned to put in the game was way too much and they didn't have enough employees to work on it). And it's not the only and probably not the last sonic games that got some hellish développements because we have after this the game "Sonic boom". In the middle of the project, the team has to almost rework everything all because of the apparition of the Wii U console. They didn't have the time to fix the bugs and the result was a huge problem.
It's like one of the Zelda games (forgot the name, but the design of the character look like it was made with paint). It's a horrible game, but becomes a goldmine for the internet. You said this is dogshit, but it's funny. Pretty sure it's because, unlike some game today, there are lots of bugs in this game and each one is more unlogic than the others. @@TITan_boiman2gold in the past (2017 i think) lythero made two videos on sonic 06, one for sonic's campaign and another for shadow's campaign But he never made the silver one and then in each video after those two videos his viewers kept asking him "where's the silver campaign?" To the point it became a running joke on the channel, then he made a video on (marvel vs capcom 3 i think) where he made a liittle joke that if the video hits 2 million views on that month (or was it a week?) Then he would make the silver campaign video, it got 2 million views in almost a month, so he streamed the game and jokingly said that if the chat gives 10 thousand subs in the pre game part of the stream (around 10 minutes i think) then he would start over, it happened, and that's why the video is 2 hours long Now i don't remember alot of this stuff very clearly so there might be some wrong in here, but this is pretty much the gist of it
