Hey there partner! Join us for a stroll through Disney's Fort Wilderness back in the 1970s. For all things Disney, be sure to visit www.disneyavenue.com.
Ahh a time when the average family could afford to camp there. I recently tried to book a 4 day stay and when the final numbers totaling almost 1K, I almost choked. I know people that will save for years, just to spend a week at Disney. Disney is now for Jet Setters!!
On my first trip to Disney World, we stayed a week at Fort Wilderness for free. they had a huge open camp area with restrooms and showers. It's sad with all the areas Disney World sits on they don't have camping grounds anymore. I understand if they charged to stay but just to remove it sucks
I’m confused. Fort Wilderness Campground is still there. Maybe I misunderstood and you’re talking about something that was part of Fort Wilderness that they changed.
@TechMasterJason oh the 90’s were the best actually. Sorry u missed that decade too. But who knows. Gotta be some good decades ahead. Right? Hopefully. Anything but these 2020’s. Bleh!!
Stayed at Fort Wilderness back in 1979 during my first trip to Disney. Brought back a ton of memories. I believe we stayed on Terry Trail.
Thank you so much for posting this. Reminds me of my first trip. Fills my heart with joy
Awesome. And from back in the days when the alligator population was still low, too.
