I remember Jane and Tim Weldon, l remember their mother and a brother and sister too, I was in Herne Bay1976-1980. Used to go to the Dolphin for beer in the evening, at the end an elderly man, George I think his name is/was …would clear the bar waving his walking stick. I also remember the storm that took the pier down.
What was it like… the storm that took the pier? I’m 42.. I have many years of memories in herne bay.. I like to learn about its history especially the storm.
Ah, good times before the sea ate all of the pier walkway up to the head leaving a battered-up old hut miles out and causing a shorter pier to be built instead not nearly as impressive as the full pier

Neighbouring Whitstable always seems to get the starlights and is moreso well known, therefore make a point of always looking out for Herne Bay stuff.
thankyou uploader, some very fond memories of my home town. xx
Sad to see it in its former glory compared to now.
