    Hats off to you guys for consistently putting this show out. Your ability to front up each day and speak openly about the racing, even when it hasn’t gone your way, speaks volumes about the team’s strength and culture. Thank you.

    Guys, you are simply AMAZING to put this show out every day whatever the results….it shows an unbelievable level of professional commitment to sailing and the the America’s Cup competition that NO OTHER team comes anywhere close to equaling…NOWHERE near…and, let alone with the candour and good humour that you consistently show….you have displayed a moral courage and consistency that is sadly absent everywhere else. Freddie - our 7 year old thinks you are the business and we are very happy that he does - well done - impeccable character which makes us all very proud to be British. Thank you, Team Britannia.

    Everyone on here is saying it but I will repeat it so as to feed the TH-cam algo, but thank you for these insights, full of candour and expertise, and of course thank you for the fantastic sailing you have already given us and all the ridiculous hard work that underpins that. Just 5 more wins needed. Good luck chaps.

    I think the design area that team NZ exploited this cup was the linked control systems. Their boat is so stable at all times, and their trimmers are never looking at the foils, whereas ineos trimmers are always looking at the leeward foil. It seems they are still a generation ahead of the development curve.

    ETNZ covered regardless of being one boat length ahead right from the first tack and Ineos tacked away and race 7 was finished.
    When winds are shifty you STAY with the opponent, even behind, until you can see an obvious advanrage elsewhere on the course else they will leave you standing.
    Always easier to say afterwards but it's the truth.
    The trickier shiftier the condition the more you want to stay together so that nobody gets an definite advantage.
    Race 8, ETNZ was simply in more pressure. Imeos won the start but it didn't work out.
    Nice sailing today.
    I wish Ineos Britannia DOES win 5 in a row. That would be a truly epic moment in AC history.

      There are few similarities to displacement sailing. What you definitely need is to put yourself on a position with more than one option so your opponent has to make decisions. Simply making an opponent take a decision between 1 2 or 3 options slows them down. Boxing Chess Rugby Football and sailing.

    • @Team33Team33

      @@petertelford5338 Thinking you play too much chess.
      Life would be so mucheasier IF there were always 3 ways out - even 2 ways out !
      The time YOU loose seeking those situations where your opponent has 3 options (to slow his process down through a process of multiple choice) is loosing you so much time that YOU lose the golden opportunity right before you.
      It's the difference between a successful sailor/businessman/Rugby player/Football player and YOU. Cheers.
      Thin of Ayrton Senna's famous remark:
      The day you DON't go for a gap, you aren't a racing driver anymore. At those levels decisions are FINAL and INSTANT - no beating around the bush.

    what is to stop support boats flying flags or other signals with wind information?

  • @hillarymcconnell
    @hillarymcconnell 15 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    Although I understand that a 10 sec delay for the boat entering on starboard somehow avoids a dial up but I don’t really get it. Can you elaborate for me?

    • @Gottenhimfella
      @Gottenhimfella 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      In order to dial up (or down), the starboard tacker has to be able to cross ahead of the port tack boat. In one of the races today NZ did a manoeuvre we have not seen before, coming in to the box travelling more downwind than usual, and were nearly able to force port to give way. So it GB had been any later getting onto the course, they would have been compromised. Dial ups at that speed are very dangerous, and dial downs are nearly as bad, so they would have had to be conservative and respond as soon as they realised they might not cross.
      The previous day's racing, NZ made a very conservative call, gybing away rather than risking getting dialed down, and because they were going to slow and sailed into a hole, that's all she wrote.

    No shame. Sheer luck in Race 1. The moment you both crossed the line we saw the flag at Ineos HQ windshift to NE from NW! NZ got that wind benefit before you. End of. Cannot criticise start because hindsight is a luxury no one should afford. Race 2. Simply the NZ day able to use their two pulley main sheet jobby and got the stronger wind earlier. This is formula 1 where the P1 grid place is statistically the winner in majority of races despite the curs system to make artificial overtaking. Not over yet not over yet.

  • @oldplucker1
    @oldplucker1 16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    ETNZ had the wind mapped perfectly. Listen to the coms on the livestream. They could not have mapped it better if they had Wind Lidar. They certainly have some magic on board.! The inshore course will have predictable wind patterns if plotted over time. Very different to offshore w
    courses. Their knowledge of the wind seems almost too good to be true! And the boat was fast too. They have left nothing to chance.

    • @MartinSparkes-BadDragon
      @MartinSparkes-BadDragon 9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      ETNZ all grew up sailing in Auckland, which is very similar to the experience of winds off the land. Also I felt that the dynamics of the crew and the chatter was all about where they wanted to be next which is easier to do when leading.

    • @oldplucker1
      @oldplucker1 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@MartinSparkes-BadDragon INEOS missed the chance to go right in the first race yesterday. I was shouting at my screen, “go right” but they sailed on to the left. On a normal offshore course that may have worked, but with the wind affected by the land it was not a good idea. The wind LIDAR before the race showed the wind on the right. They let ETNZ get to the right. Game over. They won the start duel and had the chance to control the Kiwis but played safe which does not work. And they should have at least stayed near the middle more with the expected big shifts.
