      idontsignin: the last person to beat Johnson was Antonio pettigrew in 1988 at this point. Johnson was the man until Donovan Bailey beat him in the 150 meters in Canada making him human that year. Johnson a couple years later would break the 400 meter record

      Not one of the best. That is the BEST and JOHNSON,REYNOLDS,WATTS,VALMONS 4X400M relay record from the 1993 world championships still stands 28 years later. Now the longest standing record in mens track. It may not be broken for 50 years.

      MJ and Carl Lewis had history of issues which started mainly in 1990. Carol, being Carl's sister didn't help. She also used her platform in the media and on TV to support her brother and throw slick comments towards MJ during his rise in the sport.

      @@---bk4lg she may have kept it professional for the most part but she did have her moments of shade towards MJ. In fact I recall a moment two years later at the 1995 USA outdoor championships where MJ called out Carol Lewis on television during the ABC broadcast for a comment she made.
      It got to the point there was time before commercial break and reporters, cameras followed MJ wanting more details which he spoke upon.
      Not sure if Jim has the full 1995 USA Champs, but if he does from those 2 weekends of ABC coverage it's in there.

    Michael Johnson is the most dominate athlete I’ve ever seen. Who more so than anyone else, left it all on the track. His only regret may be those sunglasses. Not being mean, my mother had a similar pair and we siblings still poke fun at her.

    its kinda weird that Butch Reynolds ran 43.29, then got 'busted' for steroids, appealed his case and got it overturned, but his times were never within half a second from what he did prior.

    • @kennethwoods6525
      @kennethwoods6525 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Not so weird. It was more mental than physical. He spent his own $ to hire lawyers, had to force his own federation to allow him to run, and endured great criticism from fellow U.S. athletes and coaches. Oh, and guess what happened to his sponsors. Meanwhile, Primo Nebiolo and the IAAF refused to acknowledge that it was sample H6 that was documented twice as testing positive and not Butch Reynold's test sample H5. I don't think we ever found out who sample H6 was. I don't even remember the samples being retested.

    Imagine how good Johnson would have been if could run properly??? I mean instead of running with his back straight and his chest stuck out. I can't believe that none of his coaches over the years didn't teach him to run correctly in a running race.
