I have the 6 cups, and this one. I really love the design! I also discover that if I clean it with Cafiza, looks like a new one (I hope it works for you too)
I’d probably do a 6 cup but it’s worth trying on the three cup. I’m sure you could get a great result on either by adjusting the grind. I’m usually a 16g brew or 30+
I’ve got the 8 cup but I don’t often need to make that much so this looks like a great option. Also love the tip on the centre pour, definitely will be incorporating that 🤙
Some days ago I bought one taht is different to this one, for 2 cups and a little more, 400ml .... I try to find paper filters to this one and I couldn't find it, there is one stailess filter that is suitable for mine. But at the moment I brew with a big V60 filter. Can you help me for a recipe fot this one?
Hi! Very helpful pouring tips! If I may ask, have you ever tried the 3 and 6 cup with the same coffee? Do you feel the different neck shapes produces a different taste? I'm on the fence, I don't need the 6 but... anything for the better taste! :)
Great question! I usually only do single serve on the 3 cup and 2 or more servings on the 6 cup so the flavour changes a bit even on account of the different recipe/grind size etc! The three cup definitely flows differently so there is some impact on the flavour for sure
It does, however the grinds can still “stall” a brew of you don’t give them that extra hit of agitation. This will mean that the last bit of the brew takes a long time and ends up very bitter
Nope! That’s right. Think of it like water draining through sand or rocks. If it’s draining through rocks it will flow super fast. If it’s draining through sand it will flow much slower. You want to adjust the size of the particle to bring the speed to the sweet spot in the middle
The best thing I can think to suggest is to fold them an extra time before opening them up, that should make them the right angle to fit. But the filters will be thicker than intended so you may need to grind more coarsely
I bought a 3-cup one and some filters, then on TH-cam I saw that there are special filters and I bought the regular ones, googled the chemex filters and realised they don't sell those in my country 🥲

This is a great tip! Thank you!!!
Great video! thanks! Was wondering how to take care of the wood on the chemex, the finish is starting to come off the wood. Thanks!
What size Chemex brewer would you recommend for 22g recipes at a 1:15-1:17 ratio? 3-Cup / 6-cup?

Great video and explanation super easy to follow! I’m buying that cute little fella!
Thank you! It’s so great!

The Center pour works on the 8 cup too! And yeah I love the little guy - so charming!
@@DaddyGotCoffee a little late but do you have an 8 cup recipe?
It's hard for the water to get to the bottom... very confusing. Doesn't gravity take care of that?

What is the difference between this and the Hario V60? They seem exactly the same.
They’re very similar. The most meaningful difference is actually the filter material. Chemex filters result in a cleaner cup
Needed this 👏🫡
Happy to help!!
This came up in my suggested videos and my first thought was “why is James Hoffman wearing a hat?”
Great video, subscribed!
Hahahaha I have gotten that one before! Welcome to the party!
Heyy thanks for the video! How hot is the water? :)
I swing the temp depending on the coffee! Darker roasts I can go as low as 195F, lighter roasts I'm usually 208F! :)
Hello my friend, what size did you grind the coffee here?
I do a medium fine pour over grind!
@@DaddyGotCoffee ❤🩹
How would you scale this to the max capacity of the 3-cup? (350ml) 21gr, about the same drawdown time so a bit of a coarser grind?
The drawdown can go a little longer with double the dose and a coarser grind
@@DaddyGotCoffee Thanks for your reply!

Can you link your scale and the filters?
Just perfect 😉
Gravity doesn't get the water all the way down to the bottom?
It does, however the grinds can still “stall” a brew of you don’t give them that extra hit of agitation. This will mean that the last bit of the brew takes a long time and ends up very bitter
@@DaddyGotCoffee thanks for the explanation.
What's the grind setting you use for this on your fellow ode grinder?
My ode is at the office and this Chemex is at home so it’s been a bit since I’ve done that but if memory serves it was 2-3 (stock burrs)
Thanks so much for making this! The recipe and pouring tips are definitely getting a try next time I pull out my 3 cup chemex!
When u say if the coffee is dripping down longer go coarser and shorter go finer. Shouldn’t that be the opposite?🤔

Can I make an iced coffee in a 3 cup Chemex?
Absolutely! I have a video for a larger chemex but it tells you how to scale down the recipe to anything! th-cam.com/video/b-rWgML-DOY/w-d-xo.html
Why is it called 3 cup when it makes one cup of coffee?
"Cups" on coffee makers are generally 5oz. This is generally true for any coffee maker including countertop batch brewers.
I have the large chemex filters, how can I adjust them for the 3 cup?
The best thing I can think to suggest is to fold them an extra time before opening them up, that should make them the right angle to fit. But the filters will be thicker than intended so you may need to grind more coarsely
The chemex look great 👍 I got three drippers, timemore glass crystal eye, Bluebottle dripper and KALITA TSUBAME 185
Those are all great drippers! What is your fave??
@@DaddyGotCoffee I'm not sure what is my favorite, but I like both of the drippers
It’s takes more than 4 minutes why? 🙁
Just want to make sure I’m understanding.. your brew takes longer than 4 min? If so, try grinding a little coarser ☺️
@@DaddyGotCoffee yea correct, but when i grind more coarser it’s tease weak i think chemex is not my favorite anymore
minor adjustments make the world of difference.
@@kbcarterii like what?
@Byb_965 Then fine tune it. Go just a bit finer again and then your good to go. Pour over are for fine adjustments.
I really like chemex coffee, but it's relativley unpopular on YT. I wonder why.

NOOOO!!! Brutal! I’m sorry!
