Revolution are producing some fantastic models.
Hi Chris! They certainly are! They're raising the bar in many respects! All the best, Ian.
Wonderful bit of kit, I am very impressed with mine!
I totally agree! It looks fantastic and runs great, and you can't ask for more than that! Cheers, Ian.
Great review Ian revolution trains models are excellent I have a pendolino and a class 92 wich both run amazing and have great detail, I was so impressed I preordered a class 66 from them I can’t wait till it’s available. Thanks Nat 👍🚂
Good morning Nat! Thank you! Yes, I've been impressed with the models I've had from Revolution, and have seen how well regarded they are by other modellers! I'd be quite happy for them to produce a new Deltic, or class 40 - which are two of my must haves missing from my fleet! :) All the best, Ian.
I approve of RevolutioN Trains.
And I approve that you approve! :)
Morning Ian 🙂
It looks positive for Revolution Trains - the performance you describe matches my Class 59. I too don't like paying (either in money or breakages) for detail that isn't visible, but they're very insistent on that (thinking back to their reply to your tanker review)! Personally I don't like the Class 128, but I think you've done a good review job on it 🙂
Good morning Jonathan! I've been really impressed with Revolution since they entered the N gauge market! I've only got a couple of their products, but they're both top notch, if a little over detailed (or should that be under detailed!!!) in my opinion! :) Yes, when Revolution replied to my tanker review they defended their decision well, but still!!! Well remembered! Thanks! I really rather like the look of the 128 - they look a little different from your run of the mill DMU! All the best, Ian.
Hi Ian Another great review, I pre-ordered 3 of these when first annouced (all BR Blue livery), although I have since sold one to a friend of mine who didn't order one. I think these are great little models and love mine I've also since had one re-numbered and weathered, as I used to see these at Manchester Victoria Station regularly. I'm sure you will be happy with yours too. Thanks
Hi Pete! Wow! You're the second to comment saying they splashed out on three of them! Great job! Like I said in the video, I think I'll definitely be getting a BR Blue version! I don't ever remember seeing these, but then they didn't operate in the North East, which is where I was based for the majority of their service life! Yes, I already love mine! :) All the best, Ian.
Great review Ian, looks like a really nice addition to your stock. Chris
Thanks very much Chris! It really is a lovely loco, and is now a valuable member of my fleet! All the best, Ian.
Nice review Ian. Agree re the detail underneath - never seen ! That said the model is top notch. 😊 cheers Euan
Good morning Euan! Thank you! Definitely a fantastic model, just wish the upper detail was as robust as the detail in the nether regions! Cheers, Ian.
Here I am in USA scrambling around looking for a standard USA modern freight loco. The prices are driving me loco. Amazon, ebay, or the hobby store. Your UK options set the bar very high.
Hi Frank! Yeah, prices seemed to sky rocket when Covid hit, but have never come back down again! We have a several excellent model railway retailers over here that often have sales and special offers, but not necessarily on the product(s) you're looking for! Even the second hand / used market is very buoyant, so you've really got to hunt for a bargain! Good luck with your search! All the best, Ian.
Plethora, prototypical, plectrum, and post 🤔 give peas 🫛 a chance 😇 or would that be a RevolutioN 🤭
Haha! Good morning Paul! The perfectly pleasing riposte, paying particular attention to all of that 'P'ing! :) Cheers, Ian.
Ooh will have to have a look on their website for this as I’m a big fan of Royal Mail & other mail based parcel stock & loco’s
Hi Michael! I think they're all sold out on their website, but there are plenty of retailers who still have them in stock! I don't think you'll be disappointed if you decided to get one, as they're excellent models! Cheers, Ian.
Hi Ian. A very nice review - thank you. I have the non-gangway version of the loco in the same livery. I think I bought it (last March) after watching your earlier video. I forget which decoder you decided to use; I shall fit a Hornby HM7000 sound decoder if there is sufficient space inside the model. I too paid £174.95, but from CoastalDCC. Thanks for the warning about the fragile exhaust pipes!
Good morning Paul! Thanks very much! I went for a Bachmann (Zimo) decoder, but would love to upgrade to a sound decoder! I suspect that whether the HM7000 fits will depend on which way round the chip goes! There's loads of room around the area of the socket, but the socket itself is oriented with its longest edge across the width of the loco! Hopefully it will fit for you! Yes, the price seems to have been pretty much constant across all of the retailers! Good luck with the DCC fitting, and yes, watch out for those exhausts! All the best, Ian.
Another excellent review. I went overboard and got three of these, RM red, blue and 2 tone. All DCC, excellent runners with impressive looks and sound. Looking forward to their class 120 in due course.
Hi Steve! Thank you! Wow! That's an impressive haul! I'd forgotten all about the two-tone version! I missed the news of them working on a 120, although those were definitely out of my area, so probably won't be in the market for one! Probably... Lol! All the best, Ian.
Definitely overkill and a moment of weakness on my part! Your wallet will appreciate the 120's being outside your area. Enjoying following your progress and thank you for sharing it.
@@menders1805 - That's very kind of you to say! Hopefully there'll be more progress on the actual layout made next month! Don't worry, there's plenty of other stuff planned for my wallet to worry about, as well as the impulse purchase stuff! :)
I have a green one. It too is the first and so far only RT unit I’ve bought. Mine ran perfectly out of the box, even at crawling speed, which is definitely not my usual experience with new locos, but these things can be luck of the draw. For me it’s an ideal candidate for fitting all of those detailed parts as I don’t intend it to haul anything. I’m very much looking forward to the RT class 120 when that eventually emerges. If only you’d waited until episode 128 to review it! 😂
Hi Ed! I always have problems with locos crawling on DC, even after running them in! That said, the Sonic Models Large Prairie was amazing, straight out of the box! I think Revolution Trains are hitting it out of the park at the moment, with both their locos and rolling stock, so you shouldn't be disappointed with the 120 when it arrives! I think this will be yet another accessory pack left in the box, as I will be using the 128 to haul CCT and GUV wagons! Haha! You know, it did cross my mind to wait until episode 128... All the best, Ian.
@@iansngauge Yes, I was interested and surprised to learn how good your Sonic Large Prairie was out of the box, since both of by Sonic J50s were awful. They do nothing and then suddenly shoot off like a startled horse. I'm hoping that DCC fitting will cure that.
@@edmorris631 - Sorry to hear that Ed! I've not had a loco yet not perform better once it had been DCC fitted, including the Large Prairie, so hopefully that will solve the problem! Ian
Hi Ian, excellent review and annoying really as it’s reminded me I want one and had forgotten all about it !!!. Next on my list though is a DCC Concepts rolling road and I think the parcel’s van will have to wait a little longer, I will have a green one though, although all the liveries look excellent.
I’m still painting the cabin, the window frames have taken ages and I’ll be out there again this morning once I’ve cut the lawn! Weather isn’t looking so good next week so I think there’ll be some cabin time!
Cheers for now mate, John
Good morning John! Thank you, I think! :) I always strive to be as annoying as possible! I love my DCC Concepts rolling road, it's a quality bit of kit! I think they've brought a new version out recently, so look out for that! Although maybe the older versions will be reduced in price? You're right, the 128 looks good in any livery or variant! I saw them on their stand at the London Festival of Railway Modelling - which is where I fell in love with the Royal Mail one! Good luck with the cabin painting! We're forcast thunderstorms for the next day or so, so I hope they don't affect you! All the best, Ian.
