Well, Willow and Xander's loyalty to each other has always come over there loyalty to Buffy, at the end of the day. They're best friends since childhood. Buffy's plan got Xander hurt. That's why Willow responds the way she does, I think.

A guy with no training or power willingly signs up to fight monsters and over half a decade later he is still alive. Buffy should be getting a medal for protecting his nigh worthless ass for as long as she did.

It's not exactly without precedent though. Remember back in Season 3 when Buffy came home after running away. Not one of them welcomed her back and Willow actively was angry that Buffy wasn't there to hear about whatever crap was going on in her own life but dodged any attempt Buffy made to talk about what she had been through that summer. There's been a long running thread of Buffy's friends expecting her to be there for them but not returning the favour.

@@barbaraberenyiesterhazy900 That's actually a very surface level interprestation, You can FEEL what the writers want for you by listening to tone of voice, The director tells them ok now you need to be sincere, Then you get the tone intended, So faith's soft calm cool collected tone means she is in the right, She doesn't hit buffy back, She does irresponsible things RESPONSIBLY when she took them out, She was in the right all the way through, her level head and apologeticness to buffy means the writers want you to side with faith. Buffy was meant to look irrational, and about to make a stupid decision, If you listen Faith never said she would not follow buffy's lead, But she said "IF" YOU give me a reason to fight, (logical) "I'm not your lap dog" Faith is saying look I'll go where I need to Go i have your back but if you don't have a plan or proof, then no. Also she never tried to make buffy jelous of spike, If you re watch, She flirts before she finds out about buffy and spike, She was in buffy's body flirting with spike so they have a history for that to come up in conversation, But interestingly if you watch Faiths body language when buffy comes downstairs and faith now knows the truth, She gets awkward, Tries to be careful with what she says and even moves her shoulders away from spike, Faith is showing GROWTH.

THANK YOU! Rona is the absolute worst! Yeah, Kennedy is annoying but at least she puts in effort. Rona just comes in and whines the entire time expecting everyone to just protect her, she is obnoxious. The ending of this episode is infuriating and requires most of the main characters to act completely out of character in order to separate Buffy from the rest of the group. 1 screw up vs 7 years of experience working with her, I refuse to believe Xander, Willow, Dawn, and Giles would just turn on Buffy like that. The one thing I'll give it is that it's clear Faith didn't want this and Buffy understands that.

    • @anonmouse6337

I wouldn't say it's _entirely_ out of character. They act similarly in episodes like Dead Man's Party or Revelations, where the Scoobies gang up on Buffy and act like they know better than her, even though she's proven her good judgement time and time again. Of course, it could be argued that those moments were ooc as well.

@@anonmouse6337In Dead Man's Party Buffy actually deserved what she got. What she did was totally awful, and Scoobies didn't even know the reasons.
Revelations is another example. If you saw Buffy kissing Angel, after what Angel did the previous season, it's 100% understandable to freak out.
But those cases were solved, and Buffy was in Highschool then. Now she has been the adult for couple of seasons and such a sudden abandoning just was horrible writing. If they needed that abandoning, they should at least made it better.

I can't believe you've forced me to defend them here, but it is totally understandable that they'd not want to keep blindly following her command, given that she wants to redo that whole experience.
And the way they handled it was in line with previous episodes (I'll add Selfless as an example of the Scoobies not trusting Buffy's judgment, as well. And they were all adults there, too).

Honestly, I've never really forgiven Buffy's friends for kicking her out of the house and I'm surprised that this didn't ruin Buffy's faith and trust in them because it would for me. Not only were they dumb enough to allow their personal issues with Buffy to dictate their decisions, but this is just another moment that showcases how much they take her for granted. Buffy didn't ask to be leader, but as usual, it was expected of her. Giles shows up with handful of girls telling her that she's the only able to keep them safe. Buffy doesn't want that pressure, but she takes it on and she does the best she can while everyone around her continually questions and doubts her. And that's the way it's always been. They're all fine leaning on Buffy and expecting her to lead them and make the tough calls for them, but the moment shit hits the fan for them, that's when it's time to judge her. And honestly, it takes a special kind of a-hole to think it's okay to kick someone out of their own home that they pay bills for. Lol.
Also, those Potentials are the WORST. There were times I was actually hoping the First would take a few of them out.

This one of the things that bugs me through the whole run of the show. Buffy is a slayer gifted with supernatural powers and insights, yet EVERY SINGLE TIME, she gets a dream or an intuition the people who know should know better either dismiss it, question it and/or resist acting on it. Giles tells her in the very first episode she should be able to feel when a vampire is near and needs to hone those instincts, yet he always questions her and ends up being wrong. That may have been acceptable early in the series before the scoobies had spent significant time as a unit, but seven years in and they still question her insights - when they have always been correct - is annoying. That's not to say Buffy always interprets or acts on those insights in the best ways, but the insight itself - the "this is important" spidey sense is unerringly accurate.

@@zakjaggs9761 You cant expect Buffy to be perfect. Even if her plans aren’t the best her INTENTIONS are what matter. As if her friends thought of perfect plans 100% of the time? Kicking someone out is way too foolish. They could’ve just at least rotated ppl and have someone else think of a different plan. Teamwork involves working together no matter how things get. I already knew there would be comments on here that would take Buffy’s friends side. EVERY character in this show has made lackluster decisions at one point on time. Yet Buffy never kicked them out

I can see and understand their reactions to Buffy wanting to immediately go back to the vineyard and snoop around. They've just watched a super powered individual beat the tar out of 2 slayers and a vampire, kill some Potentials and then gouge out the eye of one of the slayers friends. Not wanting to go back without a solid plan seems like the smart thing to do. As for Xander listen when he talks to Buffy. His speech is slow and soft. He's in a lot of pain and probably on a ton of painkillers. Xander's eye was destroyed by Caleb. Go back and watch that scene in "Dirty Girls" there's not just blood but, eye chunks hanging out of the socket.

While I don't agree with what they said or the way they said it, I do understand up to a point where they're coming from. Except for Giles and Robin who are conveniently forgetting the advices they gave Buffy. And they have the galls of making her pays for following those advices (testing the potentials in battle for Wood, acting like a general and making tough decisions for Giles). And Anya was a jerk. If they had just wanted to change leader, I wouldn't be exactly okay with it, but I think it's their right. However, kicking Buffy out of her house was way out of line. And strategically really dumb.

I always come back to your reactions on Buffy. I love the show and your reactions to it. I think the moment when Faith and Buffy are standing at the door is the moment Faith truly appreciated what it was to be a Slayer in terms of protecting people. In saving the world. In being selfless and fighting for others. Buffy never used her power for her own gain. Faith always saw being the slayer as being superior. She wanted the power but none of the responsibilities.

As I've mentioned before, I found this channel because I was looking for someone who'd finished Season 7 while I'm doing my current rewatch (watch an episode, then watch a reaction to it). Don't know of the hostesss will see this at this late date or not, but here we are.
And this episode, right here, is why I don't give Dawn the benefit of the doubt for any of her misbehavior before (some point out the trauma's she's suffered combined with normal teenage angst--but none of that excuses this right here). Many people have many reasons to not liking Dawn. This is mine.
No, Dawn, it's not your house too. You are a minor. Buffy is your guardian. It's her house.
What Buffy _should_ have said is "vote? Okay. Anyone who doesn't want to follow my lead knows where the door to _my_ _house_ is."
And, oh look, once again Xander is old reliable. Any time that there's a disagreement among the Scoobies, you can count on Xander to be on the side that's not Buffy's. The recent bits with "Buffy does care. She's laid down her life twice." is now gone.
Willow has distrusted Buffy's judgement before. She's been wrong before. Past history would suggest that when there's a disagreement, the one to bet on is Buffy's.
And Giles about Buffy talking about how she couldn't trust them? Did you _have_ to prove her right? Clearly, she _couldn't_ trust you or, well, anyone there.
Yeah, Buffy says some things in heat here that are not the best but, given the dog pile (again), and all she's been through up to this point, I'm willing to cut her a bit of slack. She's been through this before, her so-called friends turning on her. And here it's happening again.
Faith is the one person who doesn't cover herself in mud. She's not the one orchestrating the coup (although I can see why Buffy might think that, even before considering their history), and is surprised by it as the others.
They're fortunate that I'm not the slayer because frankly, I'd find a car and leave Sunnydale entirely (I'm sure given the mass exodus there are plenty of abandoned vehicles). World ending as a series finale? No longer my problem. Buffy, however, is a hero through and through so I'd say it's a fair prediction that she's not going to do that.

I couldn't believe that Willow turned on her too. But the one that really sent me raging was Xander. She has kept his useless ass safe for 7 yrs. He is the only member of the Scooby gang that hasn't really suffered. Willow lost Tara. Buffy lost her mom (Idc what Joss said, that shadow on Joyce's brain was due to the imprint of magical memories the monks did on everybody. It was pressing against her nerve in her brain. Dawn is the real reason she's dead), Buffy lost Angel, she died twice for them. So Xander loses an eye.....small sacrifice to pay in comparison. He gets hurt and bitches out on her.

you're all terrible people, fyi. kennedy is not only awesome, but desperately needed. she sets herself up to be the rock that willow very much needs this season and that no one else really has time to be. it's easy to take her for granted due to how rushed this season is, with sarah michelle gellar having surprised everyone with her sudden announcement that she wouldn't be coming back for more seasons. but there's more than enough on camera that we should be able to read between the lines. i've always been profoundly disappointed that so much of the buffy fandom apparently can't.

    • @BadWolf739
      @BadWolf739 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Even apart from Willow just look at how Kennedy acts. She relished getting to act like a drill sergeant and while the First definitely drove that one potential to suicide Kennedy's dismissive treatment of her was a huge part of it. And she loved having that kind of power up till the moment that it cost something, then it was Buffy's fault for not protecting them. She pushed Willow to oust Buffy then the moment Buffy is gone she starts suggesting a new system where the people who have been their longest get the most say ie her. There's a conversation where she self deprecatingly refers to herself as a spoiled brat when she's telling Willow how she grew up in a manor house but she straight up is. She reacts badly to anyone having authority over her and maniulates those around her to get her own way while never taking responsibility for the result of her actions.
And while I don't like her I do think Willow needed a rebound girl. Just someone to remind her that just because Tara's life was over didn't mean hers had to be. I expected them to burn out quickly but I think Willow did need her for whatever little time they were together. From a meta textual perspective it was important that Willow be with a other girl to prove to the audience that Tara wasn't a one time thing or a result of college experimentation. The early 2000s weren't a good time for LGBT representation and it wouldn't have been unusual for Willow's status to be erased at the first opportunity.

@@MyFeuerFreyThe tensions from previous seasons play little to no part in this episode though, they never bring up her past decisions from previous seasons in order to question her judgement here. The only time they did was in previous episodes like when Giles brings up Buffy killing Dawn to save the world in 'Lies My Parents Told Me' & Xander getting upset at her for deciding to kill Anya when she starts killing as a vengeance demon again in 'Selfless'.
And even then, Willow & Xander have both been vocal & stood behind Buffy's decision making throughout Season 7. Dawn never says anything so it doesn't make sense why she feels a need for Buffy to leave, & Anya
just starts being a bitch for no reason to Buffy in 'Get it Done'.
But it doesn't come off as her questioning Buffy's leadership, she just out of nowhere says she's not Buffy's friend & starts acting petty when Buffy asks her if she's not her friend then why is she even there with them.
The only people who have valid reasons to question her leadership are the potentials & Giles but even then it doesn't make sense from a strategic standpoint to kick Buffy out. Especially considering that Giles tells everyone that Buffy was their only plan in 'Bring on the Night'
So not only is it out of character for the Scoobies to kick Buffy out in the middle of the Apocalypse, it's just insanely idiotic for them to think the best thing for them to do is kick Buffy out.

Honnestly, I DO think that attacking the vineyard the quickest possible was a good call. You don't want the enemy to regroup too much after all.
However, the execution was profoundly lacking and it's here where her so called Watcher should've helped, by creating a plan of attack, or a retreat path, or somethin', because in the end ? Buffy is someone who's used to barging in stuff and, well ... It kinda always turns out alright for her ? She's not the kind to check out the territory or the numbers that much and it's something Giles should've acknowledged and helped with instead of shutting Buffy completely down ... Seriously, hearin' him last episode, he was all for NOT doing Buffy's plan, but he wasn't really proposing anything other than "wait and see", something incredibly dangerous in times of wars.
I just ... I get why some peoples say it was reckless or irresponsible of Buffy to come up with this plan, but sacrifices must be made to fight the war and honnestly ? Things could've been a LOT worse.
And the Potentials did need to actually come up against some real stuff. New born vampires are good for like, 2 minutes, but please. They're nothing against The First or the Ubervamps and honnestly ? This was the best occasion to follow Robin's advice and put the girls against some REAL evil without probably it being too dangerous (like, The Bringers are humans and this Caleb was presented as a normal human too, so it's normal to assume that it would be the best way to challenge the troups without losing too much of them, you know ?) 'cause these girls REALLY need a goddamn reality check. Urgh.

I know I'm about a year or so too late on this video, but I couldn't resist ^^
That's exactly what I thought when I first watched that episode. They are ALL squatting Buffy's home, she is feeding everyone and nobody EVER said thank you ONCE! It's like back in season 6, when Willow and Tara were living there but it was up to Buffy to find a job, pay the bills and debts, ….
I hated everybody who kicked Buffy out! (except Faith, who at least didn't want to do a coup, just to talk some sense into her) Giles is all like, you say you don't trust us, so why should we trust you? well, you broke her trust first, by trying to kill Spike and by having no faith (pun intended) in Buffy. But the worst are Rona, Kennedy and Anya. The first one because she's always annoying and criticising, the second one because she's a spoiled brat who think she can do as she pleases and the last one because she's just speaking nonsense.
Honestly, Anya was the worst, saying things like you didn't work for it or you didn't earn it, which is stupid and inaccurate, since Buffy has been training her ass off since she was 15 and laid down her life a lot to save the world. Plus, being the Chosen One kinda means you earned your power, since you're CHOSEN :p
But I understand Buffy's reaction, I'm not saying she was right, because attacking Faith like that wasn't, but because everybody was picking on her at the same time, she just reacted the only way that was more or less familiar, which was attacking Faith.
I really loved Buffy and Faith parting words, with Buffy trusting Faith and the latter doing her best to live up to Buffy's expectations.
Sorry for the long rant, I had to get that out of my system, since it's been festering there for a very long time :p

Some people complained about Kennedy but I'm one of those people who complained about Rona, the one who STUPIDLY questioned the leadership of Buffy, the same girl who whines about everything since day 1. 🙄 Blame the writers on this. They had to give this character the most distasteful personality. lol Also, about Giles sudden change in his outlook, which was a contrast to that time you mentioned "we're in the middle of a war" declaration, well, I'm sure it had something to do with him trying to have Spike killed by Robin Wood. He probably felt guilty or that he knew he messed up and also everything else that happened at the vineyard. I can understand why he allowed Faith to take the girls to the Bronze to unwind (even though he knows just as well as Buffy that time is at stake here and they are in the middle of war!) You can tell he looked pretty drained at this point. Same with Willow. Her siding with the Potentials had more to do with the fact that Xander got severely injured and some of them got killed. They're all traumatized and don't want to go back to that place. Buffy knows something that they don't and also at the same time she also fails to see what the Potentials are going through. Faith takes them there because unlike Buffy, she's never really had to take responsibility over others, take care of them, carry their burdens for them. Only Buffy had this amount of weight on her shoulders. Buffy took it pretty hard when Faith mentioned the vineyard. It's like being reminded by someone who dropped out of school too early that you got a D- or a terribly low grade. Yeah, I hated how everyone treated Buffy in this episode but I can also understand where they're coming from. But I HATE the way those two arrogant ones (we know who they are) spoke to Buffy as if she doesn't deserve to be their leader. 🤬 I'm just sayin'. Someone needs to knock some sense into those girls. They haven't been with her through many battles to say "oh who made you in charge?" Hello, she's died twice! oh but I gotta love the episode after this when Spike arrived. And I'm with you on Faith. I couldn't hate her at this point but the first I saw this episode, I had no idea that she had changed for the better (didn't watch Angel until this series was over so yeah) so I didn't always agree with her points.

Kicking Buffy out was unnecessary, but everyone calling Buffy out on her shit is one of my favorite scenes in the series. Her obsession with a vampire, her attitude and her reckless choices throughout this season was it for me. Ive been itching for someone to say _something_ to her to snap her out of it. Finally in this episode everyone said what needed to be said.
I notice people in the comments siding with Buffy and it’s somewhat understandable considering she’s the star of the show, but you have to put yourselves in everyone’s shoes. They’re getting hurt and they’re dying bc Buffy doesn’t know what she’s doing. (And she clearly cares more about Spike’s life than the potentials, which isn’t how a leader - or the law as she puts it - should be acting. Before you question, rewatch her attitude/reactions towards a girl’s suicide and 3 girls murder oppose to her attitude/reactions of Spike being chained up in a basement, almost getting killed by Wood and Giles sending him off on a mission without her knowledge)
She was literally about to send everyone to their deaths AGAIN over a theory without proper planning or thinking. Be honest, what would you say to Buffy or do in that kind of situation? Especially after a few people previously died and Xander lost his eye cause she was curious about what Caleb had of hers (which was nothing). Don’t act like you’d smile and be like “okay boss sure let’s go!”. You know you’d be pissed with her too.

  • @Buffy8Fan

The whole episode is based around the end of the episode, which is what makes it in the top 10 worst of the series (that and the fact that Tara was meant to have come back if Joss had been able to make everything work, so this episode is also the reminder that she didn't when Joss was pushing for it).
I have a lot to say because of that end scene, but I'll try to make it brief.
First, if everyone wanted a new leader, whatever. I disagree, but whatever. However, kicking Buffy out was stupid, as her house (as of the beginning of this episode) is the only place in Sunnydale vampires don't have entrance to. As for Buffy throwing herself out; she's not leaving willingly. And that is because she knows they will not follow her as general anymore (ie sixth point). She leaves to go fight alone (ie tenth point about slayers always fighting alone). I’ve seen fans try to argue the fact that Buffy leaves willingly. The defense I have there is that it is the same idea behind a person resigning and a person getting fired. Resigning is getting fired without the higher ups saying so and people saying Buffy leaves on her own is her doing so because the Scoobies don’t trust judgment anymore.
Second, Xander not only retcons everything good he says about Buffy during his earlier episode speech by kicking her out, but in the two hour pilot when Buffy says, "Xander, this is deeply dangerous," and he dismisses it and thinks she's thinking him, "less than a man," I criticize him (and everyone else) for not listening to that moment as well as not listening to all her S7 speeches or any other moments like those. The writers stated in BTS footage that Xander losing an eye is the reason behind the _kicking her out_ moment. Also two episodes from now in _End of Days_ Xander referenced being with Buffy to the end. How does kicking Buffy out during a battle (that they are even referencing as a final battle) help with being with Buffy to the end? He has a lot of nerve saying that after kicking her out of her house and kicking her out of fighting the war with him.
Third, Anya was one of four people who resurrected Buffy (the others being Willow, Tara and Xander) and therefore allowed The First to take advantage of the S7 plot of killing the slayer line. She, Giles and possibly Willow knows this, so them blaming Buffy is dumb.
Fourth, It is also a joke to have Anya say Buffy didn't earn the role considering everything she has done for them. The list on that could go on for 104 hours and 34 minutes (the rest of the series makes for a total of 106 hours and 42 minutes). And on top of that Anya didn't earn her power either. It was given too her and she used it to murder, torture, etc.
Fifth, Faith didn't want to be in charge and tried telling people that. But they were all too busy acting superior towards Buffy to listen.
Sixth, why did Giles call Buffy the general of the group if he was just going to undermine her at every decision he didn't like and toss her out when things went wrong? Buffy warned them all things like this would happen. Why weren't they listening?
Seventh, Post S6 Willow has a lot of nerve calling Buffy on a lack of judgement.
Eighth, didn't the Scoobies (including Dawn) learn how stupid it was when Joyce kicked Buffy out in S2?
Ninth, Joyce is proven to be The First in _Conversations with Dead People_ when it is shown that Dawn doesn't choose Buffy by kicking Buffy out in this episode. It is not the other way around as Joyce aka The First said. Dawn fell into a trap. The trap being that by kicking Buffy out they didn't choose her. Joyce as The First telling them Buffy wouldn't choose Dawn was a ploy for them to turn on Buffy. So in essence, kicking Buffy out is what The First wants and The Scoobies act as unwitting agents of The First. Dawn also chose to actively hide the information "Joyce" said to her, thus making it easier for The First to use her.
Tenth, Buffy brought up certain points to Xander during their _Selfless_ fight, so the fact that the group in this episode is throwing those moments in Buffy's face (those moments specifically being: cutting herself off, someone needing to draw a line, having no guide book to the job of a slayer [and there is a slayer guidebook/handbook, Giles just never gives it to her, so that one is on him], and fighting alone) shows The Scoobies haven't been listening to Buffy even before the war with The First started about even the moments not involving The First and its war.
Eleventh, Buffy learned from Giles "this isn't a joke" chastisement moment in _First Date,_ while none of the other Scoobies did if they were recently going to The Bronze for fun. Giles himself seemed to revert if he is urging the fun after the _First Date_ chastisement, or at least he has an agenda of his own that goes against what he said when he called Buffy the general upon first showing up in Sunnydale, so the group go against everything Buffy learned in _First Date, I Never Kill a Boy on the First Date_ and _Reptile Boy_ when they kick Buffy out.
Twelfth, Part of the reason the group admits to throwing her out is because she walked into a trap. In the next episode Faith does the same thing. I don't blame Faith so much as the immediate in-fighting once Buffy leaves. But are they going to treat Faith the same way and kick her out also? More than Xander's eye could be poked out due to said trap of a bomb.
Thirteenth, if Willow feels the need to lie about where Buffy is when Spike asks in the next episode, then it says a lot about their kicking her out actions.
Fourteen, When will The Scoobies learn how to deal with in-fighting and disagreements? They seem to attack Buffy whenever they disagree with her instead of talking to her and in this case because there is a war, it literally blew up in their face.
Fifteenth, Buffy may or may not have a good idea. Risky either way. Just like war always is. That is not the problem. The real problem is Xander's eye is a moment when they realize Buffy has been right about the danger and are taking it out on her because she is the General.
I think I'll leave it there for now. The only other thing I'll say is that I don't blame Faith or Kennedy re: fourth issue for Faith. Faith apologized to Buffy before Buffy left the porch while Kennedy apologized when injured parties of the bomb were being brought back to the house. I do blame everyone else though. And as of the series finale none of them earned any trust back.
    Hope it was brief.

I think that Giles was hitting back because, despite wanting Buffy to be a general and make hard decisions, her choice of Spike over Robin and her dismissal of his teaching, left him feeling undermined in authority himself. He was demonstrating that he had power.
Really foolish because she has shown many times that she has good plans and can resolve this sort of crisis but people do lash out to hurt others in adverse / confrontational situations.

@@Richard_Ashton That only makes Giles look even more bad in my eyes. And he was always one of the better ones in the early years, but I guess even then he had the "I know more than you" attitude that he was trying to re-lord over her and/or loved it too much to not go back on his own words of "I taught you all you need" just before he left in early S6. The thing about being a leader is that it's not enough to prove yourself once. You need to prove yourself every single time. Buffy won a lot of trust when she killed the ubervamp, but she lost points with the potentials and maybe even the confidence of her friends when she insisted on leading them into a trap at the vineyard. She assumed that she could handle any foe and played right into Caleb's hands. She underestimated the threat that the First and Caleb presented and paid the price. Now the Scoobies and the potentials would rather place their faith in Faith than risk following Buffy into another death trap.

I LOVE ARGUMENT SCENES!!! This one is between the best!!!! I heard maaany people saying they don't buy it, but to me it makes perfect sense!! Willow is going through the most traumatizing event of her life since Tara, and she feels Buffy doesn't actually give a damn about what happened to Xander. Dawn has been the silent observer, spending most of her time with the potentials and with enough empathy to understand their doubts (she's actually making a very grown up and painful choice here). Xander defended Buffy's leadership with that incredible speech and lost an eye right after. Anya is terrified, and we know she always finds someone to blame instead of facing her fears. And Giles has always been divided between his watcher role and just trusting Buffy as a grown woman. He's taking his own hurt feelings as reasonable judgement. And all of those potentials don't know Buffy at all, they only know they're dying because of her. And you know what? We the audience are biased. Only future events can tell if Buffy is making the worst mistake of her life, because it's not the first time she's fallen into a trap!

This chapter has the most spectacular scene, everyone begins to feel the emotional distance of Buffy, they do not want to accept the responsibility of what it means to follow someone, at some point Buffy's sacrifices and her delivery are heroic and the rest can not see , because they feel less special, when in fact Buffy's responsibility is overwhelming and tremendous, they can not understand her because they have not gone through the same thing and they feel the need to try to take care of something they do not understand , as is loneliness to be a leader and what that means. Buffy has made mistakes but has always been brave to take mistakes and defeats and move on.

This is the episode where the writers were like "fuck it, there's only two more episodes, no one's gonna care, just write something out so we can break for lunch"

I discovered you in January 2018. I'm sorry if I repeat anyone else, but the band playing in the Bronze was Nerf Herder, the same band that performs the Buffy theme. I don't think it's a spoiler at this point to say that they're the last band to ever perform at the Bronze on the show.

I think I started watching around S3, I don't think you had started Angel.
Historically, Rona has garnered a lot of hate, about the same as Kennedy in my experience.
This was such a poorly done episode.

How can someone sympathize with faith in this episode. Buffy was right all along. She doesn't have time to learn their names, but to be fair, she doesnt even have time to sleep. She is busy saving the world once again. Giles sent spike on a mission so he couldnt defend buffy. That was weak from everyone in the gang except for buffy and spike (and andrew ^^). If i was buffy i would make them all leave my house. I hated this epsiode but it's so well written!

Thats the thing, Faith had been there for a couple of mins and learned all of there names. Buffy didnt." shes busying saving the world" yes but NOT by herself. She kept that mentality of " Only I can save it". They were right, Buffy was loosing control, had no plan, and was acting like those girls were expendable soldiers and not girls who just learned how to fight. Anya was right, she was forced into the leader role and bc she was the slayer. No one thought shed make mistake but she did and she didnt own them. They called her out on it, She made mistakes. When enough people are telling you, your wrong. Your response shouldn't be " no your wrong and im right." your response should be " ok, let me take a step back a reflect and think." Also she started acting like a child with faith , calling her out on shit. Faith was acting more mature than her at this time.

@@wisewillow7530 Sorry, but they're at WAR with an evil that's not going to stop and coddle these girls until they decide they're ready to get off their butts and fight. And this is part of my issue with these girls. They're fine squatting in Buffy's house, they're fine eating her food, using her electricity and basically acting like it's one big slumber party, but the moment Buffy asks them to contribute in keeping themselves alive, they cry and complain about how Buffy doesn't care about them. Hate to say it, but these girls are soldiers and they needed to start acting like it. Is it fair? No, but it wasn't fair for Buffy either. Welcome to the life of a slayer. Also, Faith learning the girls names means nothing because she has absolutely nothing else riding on her shoulders. All she had to do was swagger in, smoking cigarettes, taking the girls out drinking, and fighting when she needs to fight. But the one thing I liked about these episodes was seeing Faith in a leadership position because finally she got to be in Buffy's shoes and gained a greater appreciation for how much pressure Buffy is under.
Also, how was Buffy loosing control? Nothing she's saying in this episode is wrong. Why is it that The First is revealing all his plans and the source of his power to Buffy without any concern for what she might do with that knowledge? Why did the bad guys practically roll out a welcome mat for the slayers at the school while huddling around the vineyard? It's weird and Buffy's friends have worked with her long enough that they should've known it was weird as well.

@@Cassandra765 Saying that they were at war changes nothing. Also they were already off there butts, they were all ready to fight. it wasn't like they were being lazy and not training. Its just buffy wanted them to instantly know how to fight and thats not possible. Even soldier in real life are given training before going into battle. Once this war started the house wasn't buffy's house anymore. Squatting in her house. Dude it was the headquarters. Your acting like they just came in and took over. Buffy aloud them to stay there. Buffy didnt really care about them at all. To her they were soldiers not people. Even soldiers in real life have names and buffy didn't even bother to learn most of them. She wanted them to train train train and than go to war with out even getting to know them. Without even stopping and thinking that these were girls younger than her. Who had never down this before. Were we even watching the same shows. Buffy hated the " welcome to the life of a slayer shit". She thought it was unfair and in the end made it show it was fair.
Heres the thing Faith is a leader, she has always been a leader. Faith wasn't just going to come in and stand on the side line and be second best. She wanted to CO-lead the girls.
And Buffy little childish hissy fit towards the end when she was accusing Faith of wanting to be leader all along was also a shitty thing to do. I stand by my point. When everyone in your life, every one you care about, is telling you, your not doing something right. You dont throw a fit and get upset. You take a step back and rethink what your doing. That is how a mature adult handles a situation.

    • @Cassandra765
      @Cassandra765 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@wisewillow7530 Then please explain what EXACTLY she said that was wrong? Was it not suspicious that Caleb was talking about the seal while heavily guarding the vineyard? The fact is that they were only saying she was wrong because of their own personal issues with Buffy and were letting that dictate their decision.
And, yes, the fact that they're at war changes everything because this isn't some ordinary war. And while you're criticizing Buffy for not being delicate enough with their feelings, the First is out there and he doesn't CARE how young they are. He doesn't care that they've never fought before. He's not going to be like "Oh, you're still training My bad. I'll just postpone the apocalypse and stop killing you all until you're better prepared." The First was going to keep coming at them until they were all dead. Buffy understood that. So, no, maybe she didn't take the time to learn their names. Maybe she didn't take them out clubbing and spend her time acting like they were all gal pals, but it's because she was too busy stressing and trying to save as many of these girls alive as possible. And these girls may have been training, but it usually wasn't without A LOT of whining and judgment that Buffy was asking them to contribute in keeping them all alive.
Also, if it's not Buffy's house then they all need to get their behinds out there and get themselves a job and start contributing financially to the "headquarters." It's completely ridiculous that Buffy is expected to be their leader, their teacher, their hand holder, to be willing to lay down her life for them while ALSO shouldering the financial burden of taking care of a place that, according to you, is no longer her house and that she can get kicked out of whenever people disagree with her. That's messed up.

I despise the final scene of this episode, I actually hate most of the potentials including Kennedy and Rona. I have always hated both of them and this scene is just the tip of why. Buffy has saved the world and especially half of the people in that room numerous time, she died *twice* for them and she gets this crap? I get that they are worried and scared but throwing Buffy out of her own house? Naaaaah, just forced antagonism for the sake of drama in the final lap. And Dawn, you didn't even exist until two years ago and Buffy actually gave her life for yours, shut the Hell up.
I would like to see Xander getting a parrot, though 🤣

Haven't even watched this reaction yet, but can I just say how excited I am that it's finally up? I guess I didn't realize how much I look forward to this every week. :) I hope all's well with your channel now. *edit - I've watched now and in answer to your question, The Gift was the first reaction I watched of yours. Your enthusiasm was so infectious that I kept watching while also going back and bingeing all your Buffy reactions leading up to that. I've never been that interested in reaction channels, but I'm so glad I found yours. It really has been a journey!

That would have been a great ending. Buffy should have cursed all out and then kicked THEM out. As for Dawn saying its her house too, I would have said, "Do you pay the bills?" Is the house in your name?"
